Take a look at the following code:
$a = json_decode('{"0":"xy"}', true);
This will return an associative array like [0 => "xy"].
Is there a way not to automatically convert the keys to numbers? The result I'd like to have would be the array ["0" => "xy"] with strings as keys exclusively.
First decode it as an object (without true parameter) and then typecast it as array:
$a = (array) json_decode('{"0":"xy"}');
var_dump($a);
Ouput:
array (size=1)
'0' => string 'xy' (length=2)
Not really sure why you would want numerical array keys to be strings. It can make life harder when trying to search through an array by key or rekey the array.
However, if you really want your keys to be strings this should help
$array = json_decode('{"0":"xy"}', true);
foreach($array as $key => $value) {
$newArray[(string) $key] = $value;
}

Not sure if the datatypes will be matching (as I believe it's all in a string) but here's the code
$myarray = array();
foreach(explode("&&",$mystring) as $key=>$val)
{
$myarray[] = explode(";",$val);
}
The explode command takes a string and turns it into an array based on a certain 'split key' which is && in your case
but since this is a dual array, I had to pass it through a foreach and another explode to solve.
It's very simple. First you need to explode the string by && and then traverse through array exploded by &&. And explode each element of an array by ;.
Like this,

$array=explode("&&",$str);
foreach($array as $key=>$val){
$array[$key]=explode(";",$val);

you should just have to split on '&&', then split the results by ';' to create your new two dimensional array:
// $string = '01;Tommy;32;Coder&&02;Annie;20;Seller';
// declare output
$output = [];
// create array of item strings
$itemarray = explode('&&',$string);
// loop through item strings
foreach($itemarray as $itemstring) {
// create array of item values
$subarray = explode(';',$itemstring);
// cast age to int
$subarray[2] = (int) $subarray[2]; // only useful for validation
// push subarray onto output array
$output[] = $subarray;
}
// $output = [['01','Tommy',32,'Coder'],['02','Annie',20,'Seller']];
keep in mind that since php variables are not typed, casting of strings to ints or keeping ints as strings will only last depending on how the values are used, however variable type casting can help validate data and keep the wrong kind of values out of your objects.

There is another appropach of solving this problem. Here I used array_map() with anonymous function:
$string = '01;Tommy;32;Coder&&02;Annie;20;Seller';
$result = array_map(function($value){return explode(';',$value);}, explode('&&', $string));
I work with a CMS (Drupal 8). It automatically generates some multidimensional array with an unique value, like this :
//var_dump of my $array
array (size=1)
0 =>
array (size=1)
'value' => string '50' (length=2)
To date, I use this ugly way for automatically get the value (in example : "50") of these arrays :
array_shift(array_values(array_shift(array_values($array))))
My question is, is there a better way in php for get that ?

I have an array:
$ids = array(1 => '3010', 2 => '10485', 3 => '5291');
I want to create a new array that takes the values of the $ids array and sets them as the keys of a new array, having the same value.
The final array would be:
$final = array('3010' => 'Green', '10485' => 'Green', '5291' => 'Green');
This will be used in apc_add().
I know I can accomplish this by looping thru it.
$final = array();
foreach($ids as $key => $value):
$final[$value] = 'Green';
endforeach;
But I was wondering if there was php function that does this without having to use a forloop, thanks!
You are looking for array_fill_keys.
$final = array_fill_keys($ids, "Green");
However, be aware that strings that are decimal representations of integers are actually converted to integers when used as array keys. This means that in your example the numbers that end up as keys in $final will have been transformed to integers. Most likely won't make a difference in practice, but you should know about it.
You can do with array_fill_keys this way:
$final = array_fill_keys($ids, "Green");

A quick way to do this is:
$obj = json_decode(json_encode($array));
Explanation
json_encode($array) will convert the entire multi-dimensional array to a JSON string. (php.net/json_encode)
json_decode($string) will convert the JSON string to a stdClass object. If you pass in TRUE as a second argument to json_decode, you'll get an associative array back. (php.net/json_decode)
I don't think the performance here vs recursively going through the array and converting everything is very noticeable, although I'd like to see some benchmarks of this. It works, and it's not going to go away.
The best way would be to manage your data structure as an object from the start if you have the ability:
$a = (object) array( ... ); $a->prop = $value; //and so on
But the quickest way would be the approach supplied by #CharlieS, using json_decode(json_encode($a)).
You could also run the array through a recursive function to accomplish the same. I have not benchmarked this against the json approach but:

EDIT: json_encode + json_decode will create an object as desired. But, if the array was numerical or mixed indexes (eg. array('a', 'b', 'foo'=>'bar') ), you will not be able to reference the numerical indexes with object notation (eg. $o->1 or $o[1]). the above function places all the numerical indexes into the 'index' property, which is itself a numerical array. so, you would then be able to do $o->index[1]. This keeps the distinction of a converted array from a created object and leaves the option to merge objects that may have numerical properties.
I remember that there were function that have such functionality. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of it. Basically, it did something like...
$values = foo(array('x', 'y', 'z'), $_POST);
If there are such keys in the array, it does return new array (named $values) with only those keys... taken from $_POST. If one or more keys aren't in $_POST, it simply returns false.
Anyone remember something like that or I was just dreaming? Thanks in advice!

I think the function you are looking for is array_intersect_key() As of PHP 5.1.0.

Parameters
array1 - The array with master keys to check.
array2 - An array to compare keys against.
array - A variable list of arrays to compare.
Returns an associative array containing all the entries of array1 which have keys that are present in all arguments.
