Before POST form it prints the right values, but after POST form the sessions are empty. I don't know why, looks like something is bad configured. So it's always show Bad counted result
Here is session configuration....
make sure that this line of code:
session_start();
Is at the beggining of your php file, right after the opening php tag <?php
This line of code is used to start new or resume existing session, please see php manual here
Make sure that your file had UTF-8 encoding. (not UTF-8-BOM)

i found many answers about that problem but nothing solved my problem - so i want to show you my code and hope that someone can find the mistake..
I have a standard HTML formular that gives some data with POST to the next .php file where i get it and save it into session-variables. I use the session variables about 2 reasons:
if someone reloads the page, it should show the same information as before.
I need the variables in upcoming php files.
Here is the code:

The frist call works fine - session variables are set and the echo gives the right values. After reloading the page i get the echo "get it from session" but my variables have no values.
i also checked my session_id() on first call and reload.. they are NOT the same.
I testet a simple test.php file where i start a session with a variable and ask for the variable in the next file. It works fine :-/
Its just a problem with my code above. I think my webserver is handling right. But what reasons are there for chaging a session id and losing session-variable values?

I found my mistake.
Look at the code in my question. The second session-variable is $_SESSIOn["dateId"].. the n is lowercase! If i write it correctly and complete in UPPERCASE it is working.
Also the session_id is not chaging anymore and i can output the session_id() as much as is want.. but one mistake in $_SESSIOn changes everything. New session_id on every call, ... strange.

Well, your mistake is quite easy to find. In fact, your code works perfectly. But look at this part:

Well, you asign the session values to two variables, but in fact, you simply missed to output them anywhere. Thats why you get "get it from session" but then is displays nothing, you need to echo them.
Simply add an echo and it will display your vars perfectly :)
echo "get it from session";
$locId = $_SESSION["locId"];
$dateId = $_SESSIOn["dateId"];
echo $locId;
echo $dateId;

I need to set a dynamic id for every document load. This ID should be set in PHP. Now, when i set a session_start(), the php code would be executed twice because the ID-code in generated document source differs from the same code in the alerted script variable. There are no runtime errors.
What's wrong with this code and how can i prevent the session to re-execute my code after session_start() ?
And when the code would be executed twice (var idvar contains a different value) why the heck is alert executed only once?

I was trying to make a little report management system recently. Everything was going well till I encountered this weird problem. Since the code contains lots of html, I'll only include the important parts.
Basically this is a login page. I am storing the information in SESSION variable.
When the username and pass doesn't match, the error message is given to this below function for further processing.
Edit: Every page in my project includes a config.php with following contents

Now here's the weird behavior comes in. The page post the login data to itself & if error occurs, the error is set in session variable { $_SESSION['err'] } and then redirected to itself again which displays a jquery message box if $_SESSION[ 'err' ] is not empty.
The above code doesn't work in the original form, however, if I do like code shown below, the code works. I mean the whole code including the conditional components which didn't worked previously. As soon as I remove that particular line, the conditional evaluation doesn't work.

Are you calling session_start() to actually enable the session? Without that, you'll just be wasting your time. Unless you start the session, php will NOT save any data your write to $_SESSION, not will it load any data that was previously saved elsewhere.
I resolved this problem. Comes out that changing the position of the php script between the HTML from head to body did the trick.
I am not sure why the variable username is not being returned in the session. When the user logs in, I start the session:

On the user's welcome page, when I run the echo command, I see the proper variable being returned. But I'm not sure why the return statement isn't working. I have the following in my PHP file:

If yes, you simply miss an echo

You must add echo or print so should look like this;

You need to print out your variable. Use

Possibly you should add output:

If you are using the script I think you are using, you need to look through fg_membersite.php at the line that says:
function CheckLoginInDB($username,$password)
whithin that line you should have a MySQL statement:
$qry = "SELECT etc...
When I tried to add UserAvatar I was able to do that by adding it to that MySQL string.
On a side note, I too am having trouble with adding UserName, and for the life of me I can't figure out why it would work any different than my previous workaround, yet somehow it is, but I am still convinced something in that file will do the trick eventually.

Ok i got it, just do this:
echo $fgmembersite->UserName($username);
The username will pop right out. I have no idea why, i don't know enough php to explain it, but i can only assume this will get you going.
I'm having a problem here and I think people here can help me.
I have a file that generates an image, ler.php, and the file that loads the images through a while, carregar.php.
I need to block direct access to the images generated by ler.php, tried to make a system like this session:
carregar.php:

The result is the only loading the first image.
I'm trying to now use the $_SERVER ["PHP_SELF"], placing the IF of ler.php, what happens is I load it through <img src=''> she identifies as carregar.php.
Who has the best solution?
I've tried several ways with $_SESSION and it seems to not really work.
I could suggest two ways:
Easy to implement, less protective: in ler.php check that $_SERVER["HTTP_REFERER"] refers to "carregar.php".
A little bit more complicated: in carregar.php generate an unique code for each image you're going to output and store it in $_SESSION. Then pass the code to ler.php as a GET parameter. In ler.php check if the code exists in $_SESSION object, then generate an image and remove the code from $_SESSION.
I have a hard time identifying the problem, but your use of the session is going to lead to unexpected results:
You are adding 50 (I guess...) image tags to a page and right after you have added these tags, you set the session variable to 0.
The browser only loads a few files from the same server at the same time, so when the script is done and the first image is loaded, the browser is going to request the next image but that will fail as you have set the session variable to 0 already.
The only way to reliably set the session variable to 0 after all images have loaded, is an ajax request from your page that checks and triggers after all images have completely loaded.
Good! I managed to resolve one way and improvised without using AJAX:
