Odoo installation on XAMPP and rest api - php

I am able to install the odoo on my system by downloading it from bitnami url and it was installed successfully at http://localhost:82 but I want to get installed on xampp.
I've a xampp installed on a windows machine and I want to install odoo on it so can anyone help me out on this, if its possible or not and if yes then how can i do that. I also want to use the rest api.
Please help me out on this one.
Thanks

If you are talking about a cponflict as in WAR, I don't think so. :)
odoo is an ERP, with its own server (port 8069)
XAMPP is a combination of programs, which happen to be able to serve webpages. By default Apache (the A) is responding to port 80 and sometimes 443 (depending on configuration). It is possible to modify either odoo or Apache to respond to other ports, but if you stick to the default config, they should not be in each others way.
The one thing I think of which might give you some issues, is the dependencies of odoo and what XAMPP is installing. There might be some conflicts with these, also depending on the OS you are installing your programs.
Why not install both of them, and give us a small report what happened and what you think of it.....

Can We use xampp as Online server in Google cloud ubuntu vm instance

Hi to all and Thanks in advance,
I am new to google cloud platform. Recently i created one google account and created one Ubuntu vm instance on that.Meanwhile, downloaded free version of xampp(php mysql server) from apache and installed on it.And also pointing one domain to that IP.I have a plan to host more website on(by making virtual host) it.I don't know whether its wright or wrong. I am really grateful if you are answering my below queries.
1.Whether its secure or not. If no, how to configure secure xampp server. Please also mention
alternative options.
If yes, to do something to get it right?.
2.Please tell me, the proper way to make ubuntu apache server on google cloud platform
I am very much eager to hear from you guys.
You've already created a VM instance and installed based on Ubuntu and installed XAMPP on it. In general there's no difference in installing and configuring software on standard server or GCE VM.
Have a look at the tutorial Setting Up LAMP on Compute Engine:
This page shows you how to get a LAMP stack running on a Google
Compute Engine virtual machine instance. Follow the steps in this
tutorial to configure LAMP on a Debian, Ubuntu, or CentOS instance.
and check if you missed something.
In addition, I'd recommend you a few extra steps:
reserve a static external IP address and assigning it to your VM instance instance.
use appropriate to your load machine type instead of mentioned in the tutorial f1-micro (you can change it later).
learn more about GCP Firewall to use it instead of firewall on your VM instance.
create snapshots of your persistent disk to protect your data.
choose DNS servers for your domains: it could be Google Cloud DNS or other DNS servers.
think about reservation of Compute Engine zonal resources, it could be helpful in some cases.
check Marketplace for preconfigured LAMP solutions.
Going back to your questions:
To avoid some obvious security issues you should follow community tutorial, official documentations, security recommendations for used software and common sense.
You're able to install LAMP manually (as you already did) or use preconfigured solution from Marketplace.
you can use centos to configure your apache mysql php to run your site. For more info visit the link here,

Ubuntu server in Google cloud won't run apps in browser

I've started a plain Ubuntu 15.10 instance on Google Cloud and installed a couple of apps via the command line as per their installation instructions:
http://wiki.resourcespace.org/index.php/Installing_on_Ubuntu_Linux]http://wiki.resourcespace.org/index.php/Installing_on_Ubuntu_Linux1
webmin.com/deb.html*
*I have opened up port 10000 on the firewall for webmin.
Everything seemed to go according to plan on the command line, however in the case of both applications, when it comes to the bit where I load up the app in my browser, my browser is returning the "web page not available" message.
If I go to the base IP address of the server I get the Apache2 Ubuntu default page so I know apache is running.
Can anyone point me in the right direction as to why I can't see the apps in my browser?
I guess there's something I need to enable or a service I should start, but I'm honestly not sure what I should be looking for.
It's probably worth mentioning that I have another Google Cloud instance where I did the bitnami "one click install" of ResourceSpace, and on that server I separately managed to install and run webmin with no problems at all. I want to set up a clean install that directly refers back to the original software vendor for easy updates as the bitnami install is out-of-date and is proving difficult to update.
Apps weren't properly installed.
Re-ran a clean install and everything worked.
Have you tried opening all your ports?

Should I use wampserver on Windows Server 2012 R2 or install apache, mysql etc. on the server

I am setting up a server for the first time ever (no prior experience) and got the static IP setup for it no problem. The next step is to setup the server to have a mysql database so other local machines can connect to it. Is it best to achieve this by installing PHP, MySQL, Apache etc. separately or to use something like wampserver?
I figured wampserver would be the straightforward approach but doesn't using a virtual server on a server defeat the purpose of it? Basically looking for some direction or a link here as I am completely clueless
WAMP server basically packages those different programs together and gives you things like a program icon, a system tray icon to control servers, readymade links to say phpMyAdmin. The underlying servers are the same as the 'original' ones. As such you may find WAMP server easier to install AND easier to administer.
Downside - the WAMP server does NOT includes latest 'originals'. They latest originals make it to WAMP server distribution with some lag. If you need latest say PHP, then better off installing them on your own.
WAMP server is a collection of Apache, Mysql and PHP modules.
WAMP server is same as having each component installed separately, however WAMP server gives you a package that is very user friendly in terms of quick shortcuts like (starting/stopping server, activating modules ans so on) which you would have to do manually (by editing config files if installed separately)
Pros of WAMP
Userfriendly
Easy to activate/ desactivate modules
Additional features (phpmyadmin,sqlbuddy etc..)
Cons
Difficult to upgrade
Securitiy issues
Performance issues

Install wordpress in windows server 2003 which already host asp.net website

I have a server which already host ASP.Net website. I am migrating from blogger to WordPress. So I need to install WordPress on our server. Can we host WordPress on windows server??
Yes you can install Wordpress (or any other php application) on a windows server IF php is installed on the server. There are many tutorials on google on how to install and setup PHP on IIS (the Windows web server), but Microsoft actually provides an easy PHP install from their website : Install PHP on IIS from Windows Web App Gallery
Wordpress also needs MySQL to work, so that would have to be installed on the server as well.
Your main concern here I guess is whether you have access to the server to install PHP & MySQL:
If this server is provided by a hosting service, it might not support
PHP, in which case there's nothing you can do. You'll need to check with the provider whether they support it or not, and if they can install it.
If you have complete access to the server, you just need to install PHP and MySQL (a bit of configuration will probably be needed - lots of tutorials on google to help you there); then install Wordpress normally as you would on any other kind of server.
PS: if you install PHP yourself, you should make sure to check which version of IIS you are running (IIS6 on windows 2003? IIS7+ on windows 2008?). IIS6 requires some extra configuration to make everything work, as pointed out in the article linked by Marty in his comment.
When I first started using Wordpress I used a Windows Server (granted it was shared space by a service provider) and it ran poorly. I switched to a Linux hosting account and it ran much better. Just my two cents based on my experience.

NewRelic install on centos and cpanel

I'm trying to install NewRelic on my website, I use PHP, cPanel(VPS/dedicated) and Centos (64bit) for my server, I've installed the server monitoring part right on my server but when I try to install the 'app' part on my server I can't get that to install, I followed the instruction links http://newrelic.com/docs/php/new-relic-for-php
but to no success, has anyone got any ideas as to why this maybe? I have restared httpd and appache multiple times and given it some time to propogate etc..
The problem of this is having WHM installed and many PHP services installed, you should try this guide I found:
New Relic for PHP w/cPanel
We have few dedicated servers on HostGator. Few months back we had installed "NewRelic" on our server for monitoring, later we started having issues and here is what HostGator Tech Team said
"While it's possible to configure a cPanel server to use a non-cPanel
PHP version, it's complicated to configure and we will not support it
or set it up. PHP gets compiled from source by cPanel normally and it
should be left this way, as it interacts with a number of other
components on the server in complicated ways, as you found out today.
We recommend completely removing the custom "Newrelic" repository as
well as the packages it installed in order to avoid further
compatibility problems."
and here is what "NewRelic" team said
"I wasn't trying to suggest that Hostgator's assertion was wrong. I
was just trying to figure out which instructions to go over with you."
Make sure to check compatibility before installing it. Installation instruction can be found at http://www.networkredux.com/answers/view/Hosting/Control_Panels/WHM/cPanel/162
New Relic Needs to document this cpanel compatibility better, I know it's my fault for not researching but while using a hostgator dedicated server with cpanel/whm I got new relic up and running. . then my server became a huge mess if improperly configured files and a few days of reading and learning to get it straightened out - I understand my fault entirely but a big ass CPANEL/WHM <- CAREFULL sign might have helped :P
