PHP mail script not sending textarea and duplicating everything else in body - php

Im trying to send an e-mail with the following script I've made. But seem to encounter a weird problem that I need help with.
The mail script
// Get field values.
$name = strip_tags($_POST["name"]);
$email = strip_tags($_POST["email"]);
$message = $_POST["msg"];
// Check if e-mail address is valid.
if (filter_var($email, FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL)) {
// Set e-mail and subject.
$to = "mail#mydomain.dk";
$subject = "You have a new message.";
// Set header values.
$headers = "From: " . $email . "\r\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: " . $email . "\r\n";
$headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1\r\n";
// Set request body.
$message = "<html>";
$message .= "<body>";
$message .= "<p><b>From:</b><br>" . $name . "</p>";
$message .= "<p><b>Email:</b><br>" . $email . "</p>";
$message .= "<p><b>Message:</b><br>" . $message . "</p>";
$message .= "</body>";
$message .= "</html>";
mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
echo "Your email was sent!";
} else {
echo "Invalid Email, please provide an correct email.";
}
The HTML
<form id="contact-form" data-toggle="validator" data-disable="true" role="form">
<div class="form-group">
<label for="name">Navn</label>
<input type="text" name="name" id="contact-name" class="form-control" data-minlength="2" data-error="Please provide a valid name." required>
<div class="help-block with-errors"></div>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="email">E-mail</label>
<input type="email" name="email" id="contact-email" class="form-control" data-minlength="5" data-error="Please provide a valid e-mail address." required>
<div class="help-block with-errors"></div>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<label for="message">Your message:</label>
<textarea name="msg" id="contact-email" data-minlength="10" data-error="Your message must be at least 10 characters long." class="form-control" required></textarea>
<div class="help-block with-errors"></div>
</div>
<div class="form-group">
<button id="submit" value="send" class="btn btn-primary">Send</button>
<div id="success"></div>
</div>
</form>
The Javascript
$(document).ready(function(){
$('#success').css('display', 'none');
$('#submit').click(function(e) {
e.preventDefault();
$.ajax({
url: "php/form.php",
data: $("#contact-form").serialize(),
type: 'POST',
statusCode: {
500: function(data) {
$('#success').css('display', 'none');
$('#success').css('color', '#A94442');
$('#success').html('Your message was not sent.');
$('#success').fadeIn(200);
},
404: function(data) {
$('#success').css('display', 'none');
$('#success').css('color', '#A94442');
$('#success').html('Your message was not sent.');
$('#success').fadeIn(200);
},
200: function(data) {
console.log(data);
$('#success').css('display', 'none');
$('#success').css('color', '#74C274');
$('#success').html('Your message was sent.');
$('#success').fadeIn(200);
}
}
});
});
});
The e-mail is sent and received, but the textarea is not getting sent through, and it seems to sent the "email" and "name" field twice in the message body.
The e-mail output looks like this:
From:
Someone
Email:
someone#someone.com
Besked:
From:
Someone
Email:
someone#someone.com
Help will be very much appreciated. Have been trying to fix this for hours now.

The error is located here :
$message .= "<p><b>Message:</b><br>" . $message . "</p>";
You are using the same variable for the message to be sent and the message received by your PHP.
This code will be working :
// Get field values.
$name = strip_tags($_POST["name"]);
$email = strip_tags($_POST["email"]);
$message_text = $_POST["msg"];
// Check if e-mail address is valid.
if (filter_var($email, FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL)) {
// Set e-mail and subject.
$to = "mail#mydomain.dk";
$subject = "You have a new message.";
// Set header values.
$headers = "From: " . $email . "\r\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: " . $email . "\r\n";
$headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1\r\n";
// Set request body.
$message = "<html>";
$message .= "<body>";
$message .= "<p><b>From:</b><br>" . $name . "</p>";
$message .= "<p><b>Email:</b><br>" . $email . "</p>";
$message .= "<p><b>Message:</b><br>" . $message_text . "</p>";
$message .= "</body>";
$message .= "</html>";
mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
echo "Your email was sent!";
} else {
echo "Invalid Email, please provide an correct email.";
}

Email php script won't send emails [duplicate]

This question already has answers here:
PHP mail function doesn't complete sending of e-mail

Closed 4 years ago.
I am having trouble with getting the mail php script to work, I probably dont understand why because I already looked it up on the internet, but I do not find a correct solution ( kinda new to this )
If I run the script it is always entering to the last if then else with something went wrong please try again.
Here are the scripts:
<?php
$siteOwnersEmail = 'test#gmail.be';
if($_POST) {
$name = trim(stripslashes($_POST['contactName']));
$email = trim(stripslashes($_POST['contactEmail']));
$subject = trim(stripslashes($_POST['contactSubject']));
$contact_message = trim(stripslashes($_POST['contactMessage']));
// Check Name
if (strlen($name) < 2) {
$error['name'] = "Please enter your name.";
}
// Check Email
if (!preg_match('/^[a-z0-9&\'\.\-_\+]+#[a-z0-9\-]+\.([a-z0-9\-]+\.)*+[a-z]{2}/is', $email)) {
$error['email'] = "Please enter a valid email address.";
}
// Check Message
if (strlen($contact_message) < 15) {
$error['message'] = "Please enter your message. It should have at least 15 characters.";
}
// Subject
if ($subject == '') { $subject = "Contact Form Submission"; }
// Set Message
$message .= "Email from: " . $name . "<br />";
$message .= "Email address: " . $email . "<br />";
$message .= "Message: <br />";
$message .= $contact_message;
$message .= "<br /> ----- <br /> This email was sent from your site's contact form. <br />";
// Set From: header
$from = $name . " <" . $email . ">";
// Email Headers
$headers = "From: " . $from . "\r\n";
$headers .= "Reply-To: ". $email . "\r\n";
$headers .= "MIME-Version: 1.0\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-Type: text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1\r\n";
if (isset($error)) {
$response = (isset($error['name'])) ? $error['name'] . "<br /> \n" : null;
$response .= (isset($error['email'])) ? $error['email'] . "<br /> \n" : null;
$response .= (isset($error['message'])) ? $error['message'] . "<br />" : null;
echo $response;
} # end if - there was a validation error
else {
ini_set("sendmail_from", $siteOwnersEmail); // for windows server
$mail = mail($siteOwnersEmail, $subject, $message, $headers);
if ($mail) { echo "OK"; }
else { echo "Something went wrong. Please try again."; }
} # end if - no validation error
}
}
?>
And last but not least the form for submitting
<form name="contactForm" id="contactForm" action="inc/sendEmail.php" method="post" >

How to collect email in form (html) and send to external email using (PHP)?

I have a question with my code. I created a form for collecting emails.
enter image description here
In my html I used the <form> tag to reference signup.php
HTML: (form part)
<form method="post" action="php/signup.php" name="cform" id="cform">
<div class="form-row">
<div class="col-12 col-md-9 mb-2 mb-md-0">
<input name="email" id="email" type="text" class="form-control form-control-lg" placeholder="Enter your email...">
</div>
<div class="col-12 col-md-3">
<button type="submit" class="btn btn-block btn-lg btn-primary">Sign up!</button>
</div>
</div>
</form>
In my signup.php I tried many different things to get it to send to my email but it doesn't send the email from form to my email with subject. I believe I followed PHP's mail class *mail(sendtoemail,subject,body,headers) format. Thanks!!!
PHP (php/signup.php)

else {

First, you need to assign a value to e_subject, because according to your code, e_subject is empty. And then remember that sometimes and depending on which host service you have, only authenticated accounts can send emails, preventing spam. Think about use a lib like PHPMailer

PHP contact form sends message through senders address

Recently I've been having problems with my PHP contact form. It's worked great for about two years, and I haven't changed anything, so I don't really understand what the problem is. Here's the code:
<?php
// Check for header injections
function has_header_injection($str) {
return preg_match ( "/[\r\n]/", $str );
}
if(isset ($_POST['contact_submit'])) {
$name = trim($_POST['name']);
$email = trim($_POST['email']);
$tel = trim($_POST['tel']);
$msg = $_POST['message'];
// check to see if name or email have header injections
if (has_header_injection($name) || has_header_injection($email)){
die();
}
if ( !$name || !$email || !$msg ) {
echo '<h4 class="error">All Fields Required</h4>Go back and try again';
exit;
}
// add the recipient email to a variable
$to = "example#example.net";
// Create a subject
$subject = "$name sent you an email";
// construct your message
$message .= "Name: $name sent you an email\r\n";
$message .= "Telephone: $tel\r\n";
$message .= "Email: $email\r\n\r\n";
$message .= "Message:\r\n$msg";
$message = wordwrap(message, 72);
// set the mail header
$headers = "MIME=Version: 1.0\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
$headers .= "\r\nFrom: " . $name . " \r\n\r\n" . $tel . " \r\n\r\n " . $msg . "\r\n\r\n <" . $email . "> \r\n\r\n";
$headers .= "X-Priority: 1\r\n";
$headers .= "X-MSMail-Priority: high\r\n\r\n";
// Send the Email
mail( $to, $subject, $message, $headers );
?>
<!--- END PHP CONTACT FORM -->
<!-- Show Success message -->
<h2>Thanks for contacting Us!</h2>
<p align="center">Please allow 24 hours for a response</p>
<p>« Go to Home Page</p>
<?php } else { ?>
<form method="post" action="" id="contact-form">
<label for="name">Your Name</label>
<input type="text" id="name" name="name">
<label for="tel">Your Phone Number</label>
<input type="tel" id="tel" name="tel">
<label for="email">Your Email</label>
<input type="email" id="email" name="email">
<label for="message">the date/time you wish to sign up for</label>
<textarea id="message" name="message"></textarea>
<br>
<input type="submit" class="button next" name="contact_submit" value="Sign Up">
</form>
<?php } ?>
However, when the contact form is submitted, instead of sending the information to the body of the email, it sends it in the "From" section of the email. For example, the email might say:
To: Web Developer
From: Bob Smith 888-888-8888 mondays, wednesdays fridays
Subject: Bob Smith sent you an email!
Body:
X-Priority: 1X-MSMail-Priority: high
message
I don't really know what's going on, so any help would be appreciated!
You are adding all that info in the "from" header.
$headers .= "\r\nFrom: " . $name . " \r\n\r\n" . $tel . " \r\n\r\n " . $msg . "\r\n\r\n <" . $email . "> \r\n\r\n";
Change your headers to this:
$headers = "MIME=Version: 1.0\r\n";
$headers .= "Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1\r\n";
$headers .= "From: {$name} <{$email}>\r\n"; // Removed all extra variables
$headers .= "X-Priority: 1\r\n";
$headers .= "X-MSMail-Priority: high\r\n";
and it should work.
You are already sending the $message, containing all the above data in the body as well.
Why you haven't experienced this before is however a mystery.
NOTE: You only need to have one \r\n after each header.
You should also change this row:
$message = wordwrap(message, 72);
to
$message = wordwrap($message, 72); // Adding $ in front of the variable.

How can i add a default message with php mail function?

I have created an html form that after the user clicks "send" redirects to mail.php which contains php mail function that works and sends the desired message.
Is there any way to also add a default message for example "This was sent from the website" to the email?
Form from index.html
<form method="post" action="mail.php">
<div class="form-style">
<h1 class="formh1">Full Name</h1>
<input type="text" id="name" name="name" placeholder="Full name" required>
<h1 class="formh1">Email address</h1>
<input type="email" id="email" name="email" placeholder="Email address" required>
<h1 class="formh1">Message</h1>
<textarea rows="4" cols="50" id="message" name="message" placeholder="Give us your thought" required></textarea>
<div class="button-form">
<input type="submit" name="send" value="Send" />
</div>
</div>
</form>
Mail.php
<?php
if (isset($_POST['send'])) {
$from = 'myemail'; // Use your own email address
$subject = 'The following message was sent from the website';
$message = 'Fullname: ' . $_POST['name'] . "\r\n\r\n";
$message .= 'Email address: ' . $_POST['email'] . "\r\n\r\n";
$message .= 'Message: ' . $_POST['message'];
$name = trim(filter_input(INPUT_POST,"name",FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING));
$email = trim(filter_input(INPUT_POST,"email",FILTER_SANITIZE_EMAIL));
$details = trim(filter_input(INPUT_POST,"message",FILTER_SANITIZE_SPECIAL_CHARS));
$email = filter_input(INPUT_POST, 'email', FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL);
header('Location: index.html');
if ($email) {
$headers .= "\r\nReply-To: $email";
}
$headers = "From: ".$_POST['email']."\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-Type: text/plain; charset=utf-8';
$success = mail($from, $subject, $message, $headers);
}
?>
Just add the default email your would like to send to the $message variable:
$message = 'This is my default message lalalalalal'
You just amend before, or after... wherever you want to inject that content.
When you use $var .= "something added!"; - You're appending/concatenating additional text in this case.
When you use $var = "something added!"; - w/o The .= you've reset the variable to the new string.
Think of .= being the same as $message = $message . "String being added to message"
$from = 'myemail'; // Use your own email address
$subject = 'The following message was sent from the website';
#EXAMPLE HERE - Also note I added htmlspecialchars
#These will convert any misc. characters to html readable content.
#Test with it, see if it fits. Just don't add it to $email = trim...
$message = "Your friend " . htmlspecialchars($_POST['name']) . " has sent you a message from www.mywebsite.com"\r\n\r\n;
$message .= 'Fullname: ' . htmlspecialchars($_POST['name']) . "\r\n\r\n";
$message .= 'Email address: ' . htmlspecialchars($_POST['email']) . "\r\n\r\n";
$message .= 'Message: ' . $_POST['message'];
$name = trim(filter_input(INPUT_POST,"name",FILTER_SANITIZE_STRING));
$email = trim(filter_input(INPUT_POST,"email",FILTER_SANITIZE_EMAIL));
$details = trim(filter_input(INPUT_POST,"message",FILTER_SANITIZE_SPECIAL_CHARS));
$email = filter_input(INPUT_POST, 'email', FILTER_VALIDATE_EMAIL);
