I am trying to send SMS using phpmailer with my gmail account.
This is my code:
require_once('../class.phpmailer.php');
$mail = new PHPMailer();
$mail->IsSMTP();
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->SMTPSecure = "tls";
$mail->Username = "myusername#gmail.com";
$mail->Password = "mypassword";
$mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com";
$mail->Port = 587;
$mail->SetFrom('myusername#gmail.com', 'DS');
$mail->Subject = 'hello';
$mail->Body = 'this is a testing mail..';
$mail->AddAddress('xxxxxxxxxx#ideacellular.net','testname');
if (!$mail->send()) {
echo "Mailer Error: " . $mail->ErrorInfo;
} else {
echo "Message sent!";
}
xxxxxxxxxx#ideacellular.net denotes the mobilenumber#carrierdomain.
When I execute this script. Output is that : Message sent!
But the sms is not received.
Please let me know if there is any mistake in my code (or) is it a invalid way to send SMS using phpmailer.
Using this code (change AddAddress field to email instead of mobile number) I can send mail.
But SMS cant be sent.
IS this possible to send SMS using phpmailer?
Please help me to resolve this problem..
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Seems that issue with 'ideacellular.net'.
Most phone companies have an email gateway which permits you to send an SMS message to their customers via email. You'll need to determine for each service provider what that email address looks like and set up some code to turn their phone number and service provider combination into the appropriate email address.
Check this link:
http://www.tech-recipes.com/rx/939/sms_email_cingular_nextel_sprint_tmobile_verizon_virgin/
Following code works with verizon
require 'class.phpmailer.php';
$mail = new PHPMailer();
// Configure SMTP
$mail->IsSMTP();
$mail->SMTPDebug = 2; // verbose information
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->SMTPSecure = "tls";
$mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com";
$mail->Port = 587;
$mail->Encoding = '7bit';
// Auth
$mail->Username = "email.address#gmail.com";
$mail->Password = "password";
// Check
$mail->Subject = "Testing";
$mail->Body = "Testing";
$mail->AddAddress( "###########vtext.com" );
var_dump( $mail->send() );
UPDATE
To send a text message from an email, you need to know the address for the SMS gateway. Below is a list of the SMS gateways for some of the major US cellular providers. If a carrier is not in the list, search the website for that carrier and you will likely find their SMS gateway address.
AllTel: number#message.alltel.com
AT&T: number#txt.att.net
Boost Mobile: number#myboostmobile.com
Cricket: number#sms.mycricket.com
Nextel: number#messaging.nextel.com
Qwest: number#qwestmp.com
Sprint: number#messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile: number#tmomail.net
Tracfone: number#mmst5.tracfone.com
U.S. Cellular: number#email.uscc.net
Verizon: number#vtext.com
Virgin Mobile: number#vmobl.com
Also, you may check this link for the list of other providers:

I'm guessing that this:
<?php
$emailTo = 'user1#gmail.com';
$subject = 'I hope this works!';
$body = 'Blah';
$headers='From: user#gmail.com'
mail($emailTo, $subject, $body, $headers);
?>
is not going to cut it. I searched for ways that I can send to email with SMTP auth and mail clients and programs such as PHPMailer, but I don't have a concise and direct answer yet thats helpful. Basically, I want a way to send emails to gmail, hotmail, etc (which will be my email) from another email (sender) through a form on my website
Questions:
Do I need to download a 3rd party library to this?
If not, how can I change the code above to make it work.
Thanks!
Use PHPMailer library.It is better than use mail native function because in PHPMailer you can use user authentication to avoid to send the email to spam.You can use this library without to configure a mail server. You can download in this link https://github.com/PHPMailer/PHPMailer
See an example:
$mail = new PHPMailer();
$mail->IsSMTP(); // telling the class to use SMTP
$mail->Host = "mail.yourdomain.com"; // SMTP server
$mail->SMTPDebug = 2; // enables SMTP debug information (for testing)
// 1 = errors and messages
// 2 = messages only
$mail->SMTPAuth = true; // enable SMTP authentication
$mail->SMTPSecure = "tls";
$mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com"; // SMTP server
$mail->Port = 587; // SMTP port
$mail->Username = "yourusername#gmail.com"; // username
$mail->Password = "yourpassword"; // password
$mail->SetFrom('user#gmail.com', 'Test');
$mail->Subject = "I hope this works!";
$mail->MsgHTML('Blah');
$address = "test#test.com";
$mail->AddAddress($address, "Test");
if(!$mail->Send()) {
echo "Mailer Error: " . $mail->ErrorInfo;
} else {
echo "Message sent!";
}
I'm trying to create a mailing system for our library. People receive an e-mail when they requested a book. However, I want them to receive an e-mail one day before the hand-in date as well.
So I'm not looking for a sleep script code, I'm looking for a code that can maybe store the data on the server until the hand-in date arrived.
I'm using Joomla 3.5.1 for our website, this is the code for the PHPMailer:
jimport('joomla.mail.mail');
try{
$mail = new PHPMailer();
$body = $mailmsgadmin;
$mail->IsSMTP(); // telling the class to use SMTP
$mail->Host = "example.host.com"; // SMTP server
$mail->SMTPDebug = 2; // enables SMTP debug information (for testing)
// 1 = errors and messages
// 2 = messages only
$mail->SMTPAuth = true; // enable SMTP authentication
$mail->SMTPSecure = "ssl"; // sets the prefix to the servier
$mail->Host = "example.host.com"; // sets the SMTP server
$mail->Port = 25; // set the SMTP port for the GMAIL server
$mail->Username = "email"; // SMTP account username
$mail->Password = "password"; // SMTP account password
$mail->SetFrom('email', 'First Last');
$mail->AddReplyTo($mailuseremail, $mailusername);
$mail->Subject = $mailsubject;
$mail->AltBody = "To view the message, please use an HTML compatible email viewer!";
$mail->MsgHTML($body);
$mail->AddAddress("Users e-mail","Users name");
if(!$mail->Send()) {
JError::raiseWarning( 'SOME_ERROR_CODE', $mail->ErrorInfo);
}
} catch (Exception $e) {JError::raiseWarning( 'SOME_ERROR_CODE', $e->getMessage());}
Instead of trying to get PHPMailer delay the sending, add your email details to a database table. And then write a cron job that checks the table for emails that need to be sent.
Need help!!!
I am using php mailer in my current project. It works successfully, after sending a mail successfully to the other end it says the mail comes from the smtp server account not from the $from what i use here-
$to ="muradautorun#gmail.com";
$from ="tanvir_cse0906#yahoo.com";
My smtp server code here..
$mail->Host = 'smtp.gmail.com';
$mail->Port = 465;
$mail->Username = "muradautorun";
$mail->Password = ""; //my passsword here
Here is my complete code-
$to ="muradautorun#gmail.com";
$from ="tanvir_cse0906#yahoo.com";
$from_name="S.M. Murad Hasan Tanvir";
$subject="A sending mail code";
$body ="This is a sending email code, the file attach here is about the coding.";
//here i use gmail as a smtp server
$mail = new PHPMailer(); // create a new object
$mail->IsSMTP(); // enable SMTP
$mail->SMTPDebug = 0; // debugging: 1 = errors and messages, 2 = messages only
$mail->SMTPAuth = true; // authentication enabled
$mail->SMTPSecure = 'ssl'; // secure transfer enabled REQUIRED for GMail
$mail->Host = 'smtp.gmail.com';
$mail->Port = 465;
$mail->Username = "muradautorun";
$mail->Password = ""; //my passsword here
$mail->SetFrom($from, $from_name);
$mail->addAttachment('emailSend.php'); // Add attachment(just the file url)
$mail->Subject = $subject;
$mail->Body = $body;
$mail->AddAddress($to);
if(!$mail->Send()) {
echo 'Mail error: '.$mail->ErrorInfo;
}
else {
echo 'Message sent!';
}
?>
Where i doing wrong i can't find out please help me...
Thanks in advance.
You need to allow sending mail as "tanvir_cse0906#yahoo.com" on your "muradautorun" gmail account first.
You can do this by following the following steps:
Login with "muradautorun"
Click the gear in the top right and choose "Settings"
Click on the "Accounts and Import" tab
Click on link "Add another email address you own" in the "Send mail as" section, and follow the instructions.
I am trying to change the sender address of the mail. Firstly I tried by gmail, then I let to know that by gmail its not possible now I am trying using Yahoo, and I got following error:-
SMTP ERROR: MAIL FROM command failed: 553 From address not verified.
Getting blank here I dont understand what do I do? Any help will be appreciated. following is my code:-
<?php
//date_default_timezone_set('Etc/UTC');
require('PHPMailerAutoload.php');
$mail=new PHPMailer();
$mail->CharSet = 'UTF-8';
$body = 'This is the message';
$mail->IsSMTP();
$mail->Host = "plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com";
//$mail->Host = 'smtp.gmail.com';
$mail->SMTPSecure = 'ssl';
$mail->Port = 465;
$mail->SMTPDebug = 1;
$mail->SMTPAuth = true;
$mail->Username = 'myyahooid#yahoo.com';
$mail->Password = 'xyz';
$name='Test Name';
$mail->Sender='thishavetoset#domain.com';
//$mail->From = 'sender#senderdomain.com';
//$mail->FromName = 'Sender Name';
$mail->SetFrom('thishavetoset#domain.com', $name, TRUE);
$mail->AddReplyTo('no-reply#mycomp.com','no-reply');
$mail->Subject = 'subject';
$mail->MsgHTML($body);
$mail->AddAddress('myyahooid#yahoo.com', 'title1');
//$mail->AddAddress('abc2#yahoo.com', 'title2'); /* ... */
$fileName='../rough/test.pdf';
$mail->AddAttachment($fileName);
//$mail->send();
if(!$mail->Send())
{
echo "Message could not be sent. <p>";
echo "Mailer Error: " . $mail->ErrorInfo;
exit;
}
echo "Message has been sent";
?>
Let me know another solution to set the sender name also if you think, it can't be done this way. Thanks a ton in advance.
The sender email you using should be real email id and as your using Yahoo mail i think then it must registered in yahoo
There are two reasons smtp trows such error are.
first is You are attempting to send email to a domain that is not recognized by this server
second is You are attempting to relay email through this server and have not authenticated
Check if $mail->Sender='thishavetoset#domain.com'; email is set for your domain name your using.
So try to use email which user email password your using.
$mail->Username = 'myyahooid#yahoo.com';
In Gmail you can add that email id as external address from accounts and import tab >> add another email address, You will need details of smtp from the Admin of hosting/domain and add the email id.
once you add the external email address you can use that email id as sender from gmail smtp.
I've downloaded PHPMailer library from github and used the following script to send the mail. I've tried to send email to my own account and it worked. It printed "Message has been sent" and received the email in gmail. But when I tried sending mail to my friend's account, he didn't receive the email. But the script says message has been sent.
<?php
include('PHPMailer-master/PHPMailerAutoload.php');
$mail = new PHPMailer(); // create a new object
$mail->IsSMTP(); // enable SMTP
$mail->SMTPDebug = 1; // debugging: 1 = errors and messages, 2 = messages only
$mail->SMTPAuth = true; // authentication enabled
$mail->SMTPSecure = 'ssl'; // secure transfer enabled REQUIRED for GMail
$mail->Host = "smtp.gmail.com";
$mail->Port = 465; // or 587
$mail->IsHTML(true);
$mail->Username = "example#gmail.com";
$mail->Password = "examplepassword";
$mail->SetFrom("example#gmail.com");
$mail->Subject = "Test";
$mail->Body = "hello";
$mail->AddAddress("example2#gmail.com");
if(!$mail->Send())
{
echo "Mailer Error: " . $mail->ErrorInfo;
}
else
{
echo "Message has been sent";
}
?>
I'm using xampp. What's the reason behind the problem, do I need to change any settings in my gmail settings?
EDIT: Now I got mail to second address but after 40 mins. But when I send it first address, it is received immediately. Don't know why? I want to use it for email address verification, 40 mins is very long.
