400 Bad Request after sending AJAX post request in Yii 2 - php

I want to post data via ajax to some specific controller like this :
<script>
var myUrl = "<?php echo Url::to(['table/edit']); ?>";
</script>
$.ajax({
type : "POST",
url : myUrl,
data: {id: userID},
success : function(response) {
alert("Table is editted");
}
});
And in the controller I want to get this posted data and do some thing else.
But when I try this I am getting an error "400 (Bad Request)".
If someone can help it would be great! Thanks!

Just add csrf like :
<script>
var myUrl = "<?php echo Url::to(['table/edit']); ?>";
</script>
$.ajax({
type : "POST",
url : myUrl,
data: {id: userID,_csrf:'<?=\Yii::$app->request->csrfToken?>'},
success : function(response) {
alert("Table is editted");
}
});

yii\web\BadRequestException (represents HTTP error with code 400) can be thrown in following cases:
1) Unable to verify your data submission. CSRF validation is enabled and failed. I don't think it's the reason in your case, because it's enabled by default and included in meta tags. When using jQuery, you don't have to send it manually.
2) Missing required parameters.
If you have parameters without default values, for example:
public function actionTest($someParam)
{
...
}
If you didn't pass someParam, exception will be thrown.
3) Invalid JSON data in request body.
If you send JSON as parameter and it's not a valid JSON.
4) Invalid data received for parameter. Thrown during binding parameters to action:
if ($param->isArray()) {
$args[] = $actionParams[$name] = (array) $params[$name];
} elseif (!is_array($params[$name])) {
$args[] = $actionParams[$name] = $params[$name];
} else {
throw new BadRequestHttpException(Yii::t('yii', 'Invalid data received for parameter "{param}".', [
'param' => $name,
]));
}
Last two are rarely meet, especially the last one (can't remember even single time when I met it).
These should be all possible cases at the moment, I did global search through sources just to make sure.

Ajax POST, check PHP $_GET and then $_POST

Using the following Ajax POST function on form submit (simplified here):
$form.on("submit", function (i) {
i.preventDefault();
var sendEmail = 1;
ValidateForm(sendEmail, "goSignup");
});
function ValidateForm(sendEmail, action) {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: window.location.pathname,
dataType: "json",
data: {
ajaxRequest: 1,
sendEmail: sendEmail,
}
}
After I post this I want to use a conditional GET parameter that equals 1 (i.e https://www.example.com?test-parameter=1) and then if it's present in the URL use one or another function from there if the ajaxRequest is received from $_POST in my PHP:
public function __construct() {
$testingParameter = $_GET["test-parameter"] ?? '';
if (trim($testingParameter) == '1') { // if has get parameter equal
if (!empty($_POST['ajaxRequest'])) { // if JS postRequest has been posted
$this->handlePostRequests();
}
echo 'has get parameter';
} else { // else use old logic
if (!empty($_POST['ajaxRequest'])) {
$this->handleOtherRequests();
}
echo 'no get parameter';
}
}
Issue:
I get the correct echo from PHP but when I submit the form with Ajax its still using the handleOtherRequests(); instead of the handlePostRequests(); function if I'm using the url www.example.com?test-parameter=1.
Likely getting some basic PHP logic wrong here, would appreciate if anyone could guide me in the right direction with this.
url: window.location.pathname,
Your Ajax is never going to POST the data to a URL with a query string because you explicitly took only the path name.
Maybe you want location.href instead.

Use the autocomplete event in the succes of my ajax

I would like to use an autocompletion in my application. I'm trying to use the jquery UI completion but nothing happens. I made an ajax to get all columns with a specific variable written by the user. The query is working, I have my array with all my columns back from the server. With this query reponse, I tried to do the jquery autocompletion in the success ajax but as I said nothing is happening.
Do you have an idea?
function autoCompleteRegate(){
$("#code_regate").keyup(function() {
// AJAX de l'auto-complete
var source = '/gestion/gestDepot/ajaxautocompleteregate';
var codeRegate = $("#code_regate").val();
$.ajax({
type : "POST",
url : source,
async : false,
dataType : 'json',
data : {
'codeRegate' : codeRegate
},
success : function(response) {
var availableTags = response;
$("#code_regate").autocomplete({
source: availableTags
});
}
});
});
public function ajaxautocompleteregateAction()
{
$this->_helper->layout->disableLayout();
$this->_helper->viewRenderer->setNoRender();
$params = $this->_getAllParams();
$codeRegate = $params['codeRegate'];
$oDepotService = new Services_Depot();
$response = $oDepotService->searchCodeRegate($codeRegate);
echo json_encode($response);
}
Network query - form
Exemple of nothing happening
The answer from the server
You have to directly pass the cd_regate array instead of a multidimensional array. One workaround is you could process the json output on the backend side :
public function ajaxautocompleteregateAction()
{
$this->_helper->layout->disableLayout();
$this->_helper->viewRenderer->setNoRender();
$params = $this->_getAllParams();
$codeRegate = $params['codeRegate'];
$oDepotService = new Services_Depot();
$response = $oDepotService->searchCodeRegate($codeRegate);
$json = [];
foreach ($response as $key => $value) {
array_push($json, $value->cd_regate); // the output will be "[774970, 774690, 774700,... ]"
}
echo json_encode($json);
}
I would suggest the following for your JavaScript:
$("#code_regate").autocomplete({
source: function(request, response){
$.ajax({
type : "POST",
url : '/gestion/gestDepot/ajaxautocompleteregate',
async : false,
dataType : 'json',
data : {
'codeRegate' : request.term
},
success : function(data) {
response(data);
}
});
}
});
This uses a function as a Source. From the API:
Function: The third variation, a callback, provides the most flexibility and can be used to connect any data source to Autocomplete, including JSONP. The callback gets two arguments:
A request object, with a single term property, which refers to the value currently in the text input. For example, if the user enters "new yo" in a city field, the Autocomplete term will equal "new yo".
A response callback, which expects a single argument: the data to suggest to the user. This data should be filtered based on the provided term, and can be in any of the formats described above for simple local data. It's important when providing a custom source callback to handle errors during the request. You must always call the response callback even if you encounter an error. This ensures that the widget always has the correct state.
When filtering data locally, you can make use of the built-in $.ui.autocomplete.escapeRegex function. It'll take a single string argument and escape all regex characters, making the result safe to pass to new RegExp().
When 1 or more letters are entered into the text field, this will be passed to the function under request.term and you can POST that to your script via AJAX. When you get the result data, it must be in an Array or an Object with the right format.

Passing a jQuery array to PHP (POST)

I want to send an array to PHP (POST method) using jQuery.
This is my code to send a POST request:
$.post("insert.php", {
// Arrays
customerID: customer,
actionID: action
})
This is my PHP code to read the POST data:
$variable = $_POST['customerID']; // I know this is vulnerable to SQLi
If I try to read the array passed with $.post, I only get the first element.
If I inspect the POST data with Fiddler, I see that the web server answers with "500 status code".
How can I get the complete array in PHP?
Thanks for your help.
To send data from JS to PHP you can use $.ajax :
1/ Use "POST" as type, dataType is what kind of data you want to receive as php response, the url is your php file and in data just send what you want.
JS:
var array = {
'customerID': customer,
'actionID' : action
};
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
dataType: "json",
url: "insert.php",
data:
{
"data" : array
},
success: function (response) {
// Do something if it works
},
error: function(x,e,t){
// Do something if it doesn't works
}
});
PHP:
<?php
$result['message'] = "";
$result['type'] = "";
$array = $_POST['data']; // your array
// Now you can use your array in php, for example : $array['customerID'] is equal to 'customer';
// now do what you want with your array and send back some JSON data in your JS if all is ok, for example :
$result['message'] = "All is ok !";
$result['type'] = "success";
echo json_encode($result);
Is it what you are looking for?

Passing of javascript variable data to php variable in the same php file

I have a javascript that needs to pass data to a php variable. I already searched on how to implement this but I cant make it work properly. Here is what I've done:
Javascript:
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".filter").click(function() {
var val = $(this).attr('data-rel');
//check value
alert($(this).attr('data-rel'));
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: 'signage.php',
data: "subDir=" + val,
success: function(data)
{
alert("success!");
}
});
});
});
Then on my php tag:
<?php
if(isset($_GET['subDir']))
{
$subDir = $_GET['subDir'];
echo($subDir);
}
else
{
echo('fail');
}?>
I always get the fail text so there must be something wrong. I just started on php and jquery, I dont know what is wrong. Please I need your help. By the way, they are on the same file which is signage.php .Thanks in advance!
When you answer to a POST call that way, you need three things - read the data from _POST, put it there properly, and answer in JSON.
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: 'signage.php',
data: {
subDir: val,
}
success: function(answer)
{
alert("server said: " + answer.data);
}
});
or also:
$.post(
'signage.php',
{
subDir: val
},
function(answer){
alert("server said: " + answer.data);
}
}
Then in the response:
<?php
if (array_key_exists('subDir', $_POST)) {
$subDir = $_POST['subDir'];
$answer = array(
'data' => "You said, '{$subDir}'",
);
header("Content-Type: application/json;charset=utf-8");
print json_encode($answer);
exit();
}
Note that in the response, you have to set the Content-Type and you must send valid JSON, which normally means you have to exit immediately after sending the JSON packet in order to be sure not to send anything else. Also, the response must come as soon as possible and must not contain anything else before (not even some invisible BOM character before the
Note also that using isset is risky, because you cannot send some values that are equivalent to unset (for example the boolean false, or an empty string). If you want to check that _POST actually contains a subDir key, then use explicitly array_key_exists (for the same reason in Javascript you will sometimes use hasOwnProperty).
Finally, since you use a single file, you must consider that when opening the file the first time, _POST will be empty, so you will start with "fail" displayed! You had already begun remediating this by using _POST:
_POST means that this is an AJAX call
_GET means that this is the normal opening of signage.php
So you would do something like:
<?php // NO HTML BEFORE THIS POINT. NO OUTPUT AT ALL, ACTUALLY,
// OR $.post() WILL FAIL.
if (!empty($_POST)) {
// AJAX call. Do whatever you want, but the script must not
// get out of this if() alive.
exit(); // Ensure it doesn't.
}
// Normal _GET opening of the page (i.e. we display HTML here).
A surer way to check is verifying the XHR status of the request with an ancillary function such as:
/**
* isXHR. Answers the question, "Was I called through AJAX?".
* #return boolean
*/
function isXHR() {
$key = 'HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH';
return array_key_exists($key, $_SERVER)
&& ('xmlhttprequest'
== strtolower($_SERVER[$key])
)
;
}
Now you would have:
if (isXHR()) {
// Now you can use both $.post() or $.get()
exit();
}
and actually you could offload your AJAX code into another file:
if (isXHR()) {
include('signage-ajax.php');
exit();
}
You are send data using POST method and getting is using GET
<?php
if(isset($_POST['subDir']))
{
$subDir = $_POST['subDir'];
echo($subDir);
}
else
{
echo('fail');
}?>
You have used method POST in ajax so you must change to POST in php as well.
<?php
if(isset($_POST['subDir']))
{
$subDir = $_POST['subDir'];
echo($subDir);
}
else
{
echo('fail');
}?>
Edit your javascript code change POST to GET in ajax type
$(document).ready(function() {
$(".filter").click(function() {
var val = $(this).attr('data-rel');
//check value
alert($(this).attr('data-rel'));
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
url: 'signage.php',
data: "subDir=" + val,
success: function(data)
{
alert("success!");
}
});
});
});
when you use $_GET you have to set you data value in your url, I mean
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: 'signage.php?subDir=' + val,
data: "subDir=" + val,
success: function(data)
{
alert("success!");
}
});
or change your server side code from $_GET to $_POST

Sending json to symfony controller

I need to pass json data to my Symfony Controller. My ajax function looks like this:
var data = '{"firstname":"John"}';
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: save_url, //path to controller action
data: {json:data},
success: function(response) {
// Do something
}
});
In my controller, I try to get my data through:
public function createAction(Request $request) {
$data = $this->getRequest()->get('firstname');
return $this->render('MyBundle:Counter:test.html.twig', array(
'data' => $data
));
Just to see if this works, I send $data to be echoed in a template. In Firebug I can see the data being sent and everything seems to work, but $data is empty and nothing is echoed. Where am I doing this wrong?
EDIT: When I check the response in Fireburg console, I see my data there, in place, but it never appears in the template. var_dump($data) tells that $data is null. So, it seems data is being sent but the controller ignores it.
As Marek noticed:
$this->getRequest()
already returns the request object, you're accessing the request property of the request, that doesn't add up. Either try:
$data = $this->request->get('json');
Or use:
$data = $this->getRequest()->get('json');
You can, of course assign the return value of $this->getRequest() to a variable, and call the get method on that var from there on end... anyway, here's my initial answer, it does contain some more tips, and considerations you may find useful:
You should be able to get the data this way, though AJAX requests + echoing in a template? That does sound a bit strange. I don't see you passing the $data variable to a $this->render call anywhere.
This is a copy-paste bit from a controller action in one of my projects. It works just fine there:
public function indexAction()
{
if (!$this->getRequest()->isXmlHttpRequest())
{//check if request is AJAX request, if not redirect
return $this->redirect(
$this->generateUrl('foo_bar_homepage')//changed this, of course
);
}
$id = $this->getRequest()->get('id',false);//works fine
However, I can't begin to grasp why you're doing this:
var data = '{"firstname":"John"}';
Why not simply go for:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: url,//post how you get this URL please...
data: {firstname: 'John'},//jQ will sort this out for you
success: function(response)
{
console.log(response);
}
error: function()
{
console.log('an error occured');
console.log(arguments);//get debugging!
}
});
Then, in your controller you're able to:
$this->getRequest()->get('firstname');//it should be John
You could even pass {json:{firstname: 'john'}} as the data param to $.ajax, the only difference in your controller will be, that you have to do this:
$data = $this->getRequest()->get('json');
$firstName = $data['firstname'];
That should work just fine, unless there's somthing you're not telling us :)
RECAP:
This is what I'd write:
public function createAction()
{//no Request param in controller
if (!$this->getRequest()->isXmlHttpRequest())
{//no ajax request, no play...
$this->redirect(
$this->generateUrl('homepage_route')
);
}
$data = $this->getRequest()->get('firstname');
//return json response:
return new Response(json_encode(array('dataReceived' => $data));
//return rendered HTML page:
return $this->render('MyBundle:Counter:test.html.twig', array(
'data' => $data
));
}
Of course, then the JS code should read:
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: 'route/to/create'
data: {firstname:'John'},
success: function(response)
{
console.log(response);
}
});
I have tested this, and I see no reason why this shouldn't work. It works just fine for me...
Please note this was #EliasVanOotegem original example but there are some obvious steps missing
in the controller i'm reading a few replies as in "I cannot see how this works as i'm getting null" this is because your not correctly keying your object.
i.e.
var data = { name : 'john' };
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: url,//post how you get this URL please...
data: {json : data},//jQ will sort this out for you
success: function(response)
{
console.log(response);
}
error: function()
{
console.log('an error occured');
console.log(arguments);//get debugging!
}
});
as you can now see accessing the requerst object like
$request->get('json');
refers to the post key for the json data
Is the content what you're trying to retrieve, neither params nor headers.
Try:
$request->getContent();
In your case $request->request->get('json') should do.
