Comparing array values of just 1 array - php

Here is my array:
Array

What I want to achieve is be able to compare $array[0][0][1] and $array[0][1][1]. So whichever is lesser comes first and I get the value. So in this case I know that 4 is lesser so I get West first then South west is next. It should be dynamic since we can get more than 2.

This a simple example you can use :

Assuming the depth of the array structure remains the same, and you only want the very lowest, you can use a simple foreach.
function findLowestName($array) {
$lowest = 0; // variable to hold the index of the lowest entry.

// if this entry is lower than the 'current' lowest, mark this as the new lowest

Built as a function, so you can include it, and call the function, passing it the array as a parameter.

Split flat array into grouped subarrays containing values from consecutive key in the input array

I have an array from array_diff function and it looks like below:
Array
(
[0] => world
[1] => is
[2] => a
[3] => wonderfull
[5] => in
[6] => our
)
As you can see, we have a gap between the keys #3 and #5 (i.e. there is no key #4).
How can I split that array into 2 parts, or maybe more if there are more gaps?
The expected output would be:
Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[0] => world
[1] => is
[2] => a
[3] => wonderfull
)
[1] => Array
(
[0] => in
[1] => our
)

You can use old_key,new_key concept to check that there difference is 1 or not? if not then create new index inside you result array otherwise add the values on same index:-

You can make use of the array internal pointer to traverse the array.

This task is a perfect candidate for a reference variable. You unconditionally push values into a designated "bucket" -- in this case a subarray. You only conditionally change where that bucket is in the output array.
There are two important checks to make when determining if a new incremented key should be generated:
if it is not the first iteration and
the current key minus (the previous key + 1) does not equal 0.

This solution generates an indexed array starting from zero with my sample input and uses only one if block. In contrast, AliveToDie's solution generates a numerically keyed array starting from 1 and uses two condition blocks containing redundant lines of code.

Count the item from an array in PHP

How can I count in a multidimensional array the number of element with a special condition ?

For example, for this array I should find 2 for Banana.
Si I tried:

Method 1:
Using built-in functions - array_column and array_count_values:
print_r(array_count_values(array_column($arr,'item')));
Method 2:
Using foreach with simple logic of making your fruit as key and its count as value:
$arr = [
["item"=>"Banana"],
["item"=>"Banana"],
["item"=>"Cherry"],
["item"=>"Apple"]
];
$countArr = [];
foreach ($arr as $value) {
$item = $value['item'];
if(array_key_exists($item, $countArr)) // If key exists, increment its value
$countArr[$item]++;
else // Otherwise, assign new key
$countArr[$item] = 1;
}
print_r($countArr);
Final result in both case would be:
Array
(
[Banana] => 2
[Cherry] => 1
[Apple] => 1
)
So when you want Banana's count, you can get it like this:
echo $countArr['Banana'];
Use array_count_values(), it is pretty straight forward:
foreach($array as $arr) {
$new[] = $arr['item'];
}
print_r(array_count_values($new));
On a side note, there isn't anything wrong with your approach, unless you want to count all values. Also on a side note, I think you'll find a foreach() will eek out a slightly faster time than array_column(), especially on a large array.

Getting multi dimensional array to create new arrays based on index value

I am having a terrible time getting this to work I have been struggling with it for a couple hours now. Can someone please help me? I have included a fiddle.
I believe my problem is in this string:

Let's break it down. Using friendly variable names and spacing will make your code a lot easier to read.
Remember. The syntax is for you to read and understand easily. (Not even just you, but maybe future developers after you!)
So you have an array of groups. Each group contains an array of attributes. Each attribute row contains a number of attribute values.
PHP's foreach is a fantastic way to iterate through this, because you will need to iterate through (and use) the index names of the arrays:

With this said, this sort of conversion may cause unexpected results without sufficient validation.
Make sure the input array is valid (e.g. each attribute group has the same number of rows per group) and you should be okay.

How to tell if array contains another array

Well this has been a headache.
I have two arrays;
$array_1 = Array

[id] => 1
[name] => 'john'
[age] => 30
)

[2] => Array
(
[id] => 3
[name] => 'Francis'

And another array

[id] => 2
[name] => 'Amma'
)
)
How can I tell that the id and name of $array_2 are the same as the id and name of $array_1[1] and return $array_1[1]['age']?

Well you can do it in a straightforward loop. I am going to write a function that takes the FIRST element in $array_2 that matches something in $array_1 and returns the 'age':

Use array_diff().
In my opinion, using array_diff() is a more generic solution than simply comparing the specific keys.
Array_diff() returns a new array that represents all entries that exists in the first array and DO NOT exist in the second array.
Since your first array contains 3 keys and the seconds array contains 2 keys, when there's 2 matches, array_diff() will return an array containing the extra key (age).
foreach ($array_1 as $arr) {
if (count(array_diff($arr, $array_2[1])) === 1) {//meaning 2 out of 3 were a match
echo $arr['age'];//prints the age
}

The keys & values from array2 will be appended at the end. If your array is just numeric, you can bring it to the right order with array_sort().
