cURL geto no response no error online server - php

Hope anyone can help me out with this. I have tried to call external site using cURL but I get no error or response. Yet it works fine on local server but does not work on production server. I had started the call using file_get_contents() but fail online too. I talked to the hosting and they mentioned the problem is within codes. here is my codes can anyone help!?`
function send_with_curl($url, $data) {
$data_string;
//url-ify the data for the POST
foreach ($data as $key => $value) { $data_string .= $key . '=' . $value . '&';
}
rtrim($data_string, '&');
//open connection
$ch = curl_init();
//set the url, number of POST vars, POST data
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, 60);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, count($data));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data_string);
curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
//execute post
$result = curl_exec($ch);
if (!is_string($result) || !strlen($result)) {
$result = "Failed to connect.";
}
//close connection
curl_close($ch);
return $result;
}
I also have another function that uses file_get_contents() and whichever I may use they work locally but fail online without an error I spent more than 4 hours trying to fix it with hosting guys until they finally said the error is within codes and they weren't familiar with those codes :(
function send_with_file($url, $context, $sender) {
global $database;
if (!$result = file_get_contents($url, false, $context)) {
echo "Message sending failed, please check your internet.";
exit ;
} else {
//--UPDATING THE DATABASE------
$sql_update = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE users_type='2'";
$query_update = $database -> query($sql_update);
while ($update = $database -> fetch_array($query_update)) {
$update_user = $update['users_id'];
if ($update_user == $sender) {
if ($result === FALSE) {/* Handle error */
}
} else {
}
}
}
return $result;
}

Compare $result against false and then check curl_error()
Something like...
$result = curl_exec($ch);
if($result === false) {
echo "Error in cURL : " . curl_error($ch);
}

There was no problem with the codes, I just traced the url I was trying to connect to and realized it takes too long to communicate with the hosting server.

How to set up testing back end for PHP cURL

I don't have much experience here, so pls bear with me. I am good with cURL and sending data to API's - right now I want to set up a testing environment as the API isn't ready, but I know what he responses will be.
I will be sending some data to the API via cURL - no issue there. The main variable is called $src and it is a simple POST value. I want to set up a script on another server and echo back some messaging based on $src value.
On the remote script, that will mimic the API I'm getting returned messages like "Resource id #4" or "Resource id #5" I realize that is a generic message. Here is what I am trying to do
cURL scripting
foreach($fields as $key=>$value) {
$fields_string .= $key.'='.$value.'&';
}
$fields_string = rtrim($fields_string,'& ');
$urlFX = 'http://myserver.com/NTLM/testresponse.php';
$ch = curl_init($urlFX);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $fields_string);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$output = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
echo($ch);
Test script to mimic API Response:
<?php
$src = $_GET['src'];
if($src == "nt-fx-data-test") {
echo('foo');
} else {
echo('bar');
}
?>
How can I set up a script that will mimic the API's responses based on the $src var value?
Try to hit
http://goelette.net/NTLM/testresponse.php
With params:
src=nt-fx-data-test
src=xp
dst=nt-fx-data-test
Code:
<?php
foreach($_REQUEST as $param => $value) {
if ($param == 'src' and $value == 'nt-fx-data-test') {
echo 'foo';
} else if ($param == 'src' and $value != 'nt-fx-data-test') {
echo 'bar';
} else {
echo "unknown $param";
}
}

file_get_content with no return

I'm trying to implement reCAPTCHA in my website, everything seems working fine, except the return from file_get_contents().
Here is my code:
if ($_REQUEST["send"] == 1){
// access
$secretKey = 'my_key';
$captcha = $_POST['g-recaptcha-response'];
$ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR'];
$response = file_get_contents("https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/siteverify?secret=".$secretKey."&response=".$captcha."&remoteip=".$ip);
$responseKeys = json_decode($response,true);
echo ($responseKeys);exit;
if(intval($responseKeys["success"]) !== 1) {
$message = 'Invalid reCAPTCHA';
} else {
$msg = 'content';
send_mail('send_to',"Subject",$msg);
header("location:index.php?send=1");exit;
}
}
My variable response is returning empty.
I tried to open https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/siteverify? inserting manually the variables and it seems to work fine.
Am I forgeting something?
Thanks
Their API waiting for a POST request. Your code send GET request.
See answer here How to post data in PHP using file_get_contents?
My wrappers were disabled, reason why I couldn't reach the URL and get the return.
As I don't have access to php.ini the workaround was send the request with curl, here is the code:
$url = "https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/siteverify?secret=".$secretKey."&response=".$captcha."&remoteip=".$ip;
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, 5);
curl_setopt ($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$response = curl_exec($ch);
if (curl_errno($ch)) {
echo curl_error($ch);
echo "\n<br />";
$response = '';
} else {
curl_close($ch);
}
if (!is_string($response) || !strlen($response)) {
echo "Failed to get contents.";
$contents = '';
}
$responseKeys = json_decode($response,true);

Retrieving data of curl post in PHP

I am trying to senddata to a url by using curl with codeigniter. I have successfully implemented the code for sending the data as below.
function postToURL($reg_no, $data)
{
$url = 'http://localhost/abcSystem/Web_data/viewPage';
$send_array = array(
'reg_no' =>$reg_no,
'data' =>$data,
);
$fields_string = http_build_query($send_array);
$ch = curl_init($url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, 600);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_REFERER, $url);
$post_data = 'json='.urlencode(json_encode($send_array));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $post_data);
$output = curl_exec($ch);
if (curl_errno($ch)) {
die('Couldn\'t send request: ' . curl_error($ch));
} else {
$resultStatus = curl_getinfo($ch, CURLINFO_HTTP_CODE);
if ($resultStatus == 200) {
print_r('success'); // this is outputting
return $output;
} else {
die('Request failed: HTTP status code: ' . $resultStatus);
}
}
curl_close($ch);
}
The out put is success. I want to see if this post data can be retrieved. So I tried to change the above url controller file as below.
$fp = fopen('php://input', 'r');
$rawData = stream_get_contents($fp);
echo "<pre>";
print_r($rawData);
echo "</pre>";
But nothing is printing. I want to get the data of posting. Please help me on this.
Your Written code
$fp = fopen('php://input', 'r');
$rawData = stream_get_contents($fp);
echo "<pre>";
print_r($rawData);
echo "</pre>";
is not to Print or capture Posted Data . Because you are dealing with Current Page PHP INPUT Streaming , whereas you are posting data on Other URL . So what you need to do is just Put a log of posted data in File. Use below code after $output = curl_exec($ch)
file_put_contents("posted_data.txt", $post_data );
This way you will be able to write your each post in file Posted_data.txt File - Make sure you give proper File Permission. If you want to keep trace of each POST than just make the file name dynamic so per API Call it can write a log.
Another option is to save the $post_data in DATABASE - Which is not suggestable from Security point of view.
Where ever you are calling your postToURL() function, you need to output the result of it.
For example:
$output = postToURL('Example', array());
echo $output;
This is because you are returning the curl output rather outputting it.

Trying to use curl to do a GET, value being sent is allows null

I'm trying to use curl to do a simple GET with one parameter called redirect_uri. The php file that gets called prints out a empty string for $_GET["redirect_uri"] it shows red= and it seems like nothing is being sent.
code to do the get
//Get code from login and display it
$ch = curl_init();
$url = 'http://www.besttechsolutions.biz/projects/facebook/testget.php';
//set the url, number of POST vars, POST data
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_URL,$url);
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_GET,1);
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_GETFIELDS,"redirect_uri=my return url");
//execute post
print "new reply 2 <br>";
$result = curl_exec($ch);
print $result;
// print "<br> <br>";
// print $fields_string;
die("hello");
the testget.php file
<?php
print "red-";
print $_GET["redirect_uri"];
?>
This is how I usually do get requests, hopefully it will help you:
// create curl resource
$ch = curl_init();
//return the transfer as a string
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
// Follow redirects
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION, true);
// Set maximum redirects
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_MAXREDIRS, 5);
// Allow a max of 5 seconds.
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 5);
// set url
if( count($params) > 0 ) {
$query = http_build_query($params);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "$url?$query");
} else {
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
}
// $output contains the output string
$output = curl_exec($ch);
// Check for errors and such.
$info = curl_getinfo($ch);
$errno = curl_errno($ch);
if( $output === false || $errno != 0 ) {
// Do error checking
} else if($info['http_code'] != 200) {
// Got a non-200 error code.
// Do more error checking
}
// close curl resource to free up system resources
curl_close($ch);
return $output;
In this code, the $params could be an array where the key is the name, and the value is the value.

XML > PHP only in source code

I have a slight issue whereby the API I'm using for part of my service uses a rsp stat to handle the success / error messages in XML.
So we use a form to post it data and it returns the data like the following example:
<rsp stat="ok">
<success msg="accepted" transactionid="505eeb9c43969d4919c0a6b3f7a4dfbb" messageid="a92eff8d65cf48e9c6e96702a7b07400"/>
</rsp>
The following is most of the script used :
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
// ToDo: Replace the placeholders in brackets with your data.
// For example - curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_UsERPWD, 'SMSUser:PassW0rD#');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, '');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 100);
$xml = curl_exec($ch);
if (curl_error($ch)) {
print "ERROR ". curl_error($ch) ."\n";
}
curl_close($ch);
print_r($xml);
The only problem is that when it is parsed and displayed via the print_r command , it only displays via source code for some strange reason and we have no idea how to display it via the page
Basically we would like a system whereby if rsp stat="ok" then "Sent" else "unsent".
Well, a simple way could be:
if (strpos($xml, 'stat="ok"') !== false) {
echo "sent";
} else {
echo "unsent";
}
http://codepad.org/pkzsfsMk
This would replace print($xml);.
Put that code in a function, and have the function return your $xml.
Assuming you had a function called getRspStat() you could just do like:
echo getRspStat();
If you do something like that:
(see also on CodePad.org)
function xmlRequestWasSuccessful($xml) {
$result = simplexml_load_string($xml);
$result = (string)$result['stat'];
if ($result == 'ok') {
return true;
} else {
return false;
}
}
$xml = '<rsp stat="ok">
<success msg="accepted" transactionid="505eeb9c43969d4919c0a6b3f7a4dfbb" messageid="a92eff8d65cf48e9c6e96702a7b07400"/>
</rsp>';
$stat = xmlRequestWasSuccessful($xml);
you will receive 'true' boolean in the result ($stat variable). Adapt it to support the case when there is an error. Since no details on how it looks when error occurs, this is how you can do it now:
if ($stat) {
// do something on success ('sent' something)
} else {
// do something on success (display 'unsent' message for example)
}
