How to merge two multi-dimensional arrays and update duplicates? - php

I tried to use "array_merge($a,$b)" but this does not work for what I'm doing. Here are two arrays :
$a =
Array
(
[Mike] => Array
(
[100] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[200] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[300] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[400] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
)
)
$b =
Array
(
[Mike] => Array
(
[500] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[600] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
)
)
The concept is a user "Mike" adds items to their list (100,200,300,400). This list is saved in the database. Mike logs out and starts a new list a few days later as a anonymous guest, adding items (500,600) saved in his session. When he is finished and logs back in, I want to combine the two lists and save the updated list. If I use "array_merge" and since the array key is [Mike], by design it completely replaces $a with $b rather than merging the item numbers together.
How can I combine this? Also if two items are the same in both lists, such as (100,200,300,400) in one list and (100,500) in the second list (item number "100" being the duplicate here). I would like the [quantity] and [attribute] fields of the "100" in the second list to overwrite the those fields for item "100" in the first list.
Thanks
Kind regards

Use array_replace_recursive function("to update duplicates"):
$result = array_replace_recursive($a, $b);
print_r($result);
The output:
Array
(
[Mike] => Array
(
[100] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[200] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[300] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[400] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[500] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
[600] => Array
(
[quantity] => 1
[attribute] => 1
)
)
)

You can use the below code. Just be sure to put your latest result first. It will give you the result you want.
$c = $b['Mike']+$a['Mike'];

Insert auto generated multidimensional array to database

I need to create a db function for multidimensional array. How deep the array currently dont know, bcoz they will come from xml file.
I have a sample array
Array
(
[employee] => Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[name] => Array
(
[lastname] => Kelly
[firstname] => Grace
)
[hiredate] => October 15, 2005
[projects] => Array
(
[project] => Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[product] => Printer
[id] => 111
[price] => $111.00
)
[1] => Array
(
[product] => Laptop
[id] => 222
[price] => $989.00
)
)
)
)
[1] => Array
(
[name] => Array
(
[lastname] => Grant
[firstname] => Cary
)
[hiredate] => October 20, 2005
[projects] => Array
(
[project] => Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[product] => Desktop
[id] => 333
[price] => $2995.00
)
[1] => Array
(
[product] => Scanner
[id] => 444
[price] => $200.00
)
)
)
)
[2] => Array
(
[name] => Array
(
[lastname] => Gable
[firstname] => Clark
)
[hiredate] => October 25, 2005
[projects] => Array
(
[project] => Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[product] => Keyboard
[id] => 555
[price] => $129.00
)
[1] => Array
(
[product] => Mouse
[id] => 666
[price] => $25.00
)
)
)
)
)
)
I need to enter these type of array to db and then retrieve them in a good non programmer readable format
I created 2 table... 1st for array key with array level field and another for key=value
I tried this
function array_Dump($array, $d=1){
if (is_array($array)){
foreach($array as $key=>$val){
for ($i=0;$i<$d;$i++){
$level=$i;
}
if (is_array($val)){
if (is_int($key)){
array_Dump($val, $d+1);
}else{
$query = "insert into xml_array (level, input) VALUES ('$level','$key')";
insert_sql($query);
array_Dump($val, $d+1);
}
} else {
$query = "insert into xml_data (array_id,level_id, array_key,array_value) VALUES ('$insert_id','$level','$key','$val')";
insert_sql($query);
}
}
}
}
Create a table like this:
attributes(id, parent_id, properties)
where id will be the primary key, parent_id will be the id of the parent record and properties will be a small json field with the atomic properties. This way you support any depth the XML may throw towards your direction.
As about non-programmer representation. For instance you could use a table (you can solve that with divs as well) which will contain a row for each element in the top level array. Such a row would contain separate columns for each property. When a property is an array, then the given cell will be a table of its own, which will be handled similarly as the first table. It is advisable to make the inner tables collapsible, so if one wants to see the main levels only, the user will not have to scroll for a long while.

How to chage array key value without change array formate in php

Can you please explain how to change one array value to second value.
Please find below example.
First array
Array
(
[20239802] => one test
[20239801] => two testttttt
)
Second array
Array (
[content] => Array (
[0] => Array (
[content_pack_id] => 10002
[content_pack_name] => 100 Days Of Love-FLA
[image_path] => Array ( [0] => pack_image_10002_width. )
[content_image_path] => Array ( [imgjpeg80] => http://content.jpg )
[content_id] => 20239802
[track] => Lede Inthati Santhosham
[duration] => 0
)
[1] => Array (
[content_pack_id] => 10003
[content_pack_name] => 1001 fdfdf
[image_path] => Array ( [0] => pack_image_10002_width. )
[content_image_path] => Array ( [imgjpeg80] => http://content.jpg )
[content_id] => 20239801
[track] => Lede Inthati Santhosham
[duration] => 0
)
)
[autoshuffle_pack] => no
)
We need to replace [track] value in second array if match first array [20239802] with second array [content_id]
Need out put:-
Array
(
[content] => Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[content_pack_id] => 10002
[content_pack_name] => 100 Days Of Love-FLA
[image_path] => Array
(
[0] => pack_image_10002_width.
)
[content_image_path] => Array
(
[imgjpeg80] => http://content.jpg
)
[content_id] => 20239802
[track] => one test
[duration] => 0
)
[1] => Array
(
[content_pack_id] => 10003
[content_pack_name] => 1001 fdfdf
[image_path] => Array
(
[0] => pack_image_10002_width.
)
[content_image_path] => Array
(
[imgjpeg80] => http://content.jpg
)
[content_id] => 20239801
[track] => two testttttt
[duration] => 0
)
)
[autoshuffle_pack] => no
)
Check [track] value change in my need out put
as per depend first array.
Array
(
[20239802] => one test
[20239801] => two testttttt
)
with second array
[content_id] => 20239801
[track] => two testttttt
Is this you want to do :
foreach($second_array as $key => $second_row) {
$content_id = $second_row['content_id'];
if(isset($first_array[$content_id]) && $first_array[$content_id] != '') {
$second_array['track'] = $first_array[$content_id];
}
}
You can do you own function.
Foreach records in your first array:
Loop though the second and search for key == content_id
If it matched, set the value of array2[$index][track] to array1[key]
If not just continue
You can also use array_search() function to find the match faster, for I'll let you take a look at the PHP documentation

array_reduce to use dynamic variables pass in second function

I have below $test array
Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[quantity] => 3
[stock_id] => _PHONE
)
[1] => Array
(
[quantity] => 3
[stock_id] => 102
)
[2] => Array
(
[quantity] => 4
[stock_id] => _PHONE
)
[3] => Array
(
[quantity] => 3
[stock_id] => 102
)
[4] => Array
(
[quantity] => 4
[stock_id] => _PHONE
)
[5] => Array
(
[quantity] => 6
[stock_id] => _PHONE
)
[6] => Array
(
[quantity] => 2
[stock_id] => 102
)
)
and to sum same stock_id keys to one, i use below functions:
function sum($array, $key){
isset($array[$key['stock_id']]) ? $array[$key['stock_id']]['quantity'] += $key['quantity'] : $array[$key['stock_id']] = $key;
return $array;
};
//merge same stock_id and sum the quantity same stock id
$sum_same_stock_id = array_reduce($test, "sum");
and the result went well like below:
$sum_same_stock_id:
Array
(
[_PHONE] => Array
(
[quantity] => 17
[stock_id] => _PHONE
)
[102] => Array
(
[quantity] => 8
[stock_id] => 102
)
)
So the question here is, I wanted to pass an dynamic keys values not just fixed values stock_id & quantity in sum function above. Have tried variety ways but still can't figured out the way. And can we put those functions into class as well?
Any advise is appreciated!
Maybe you can use the "use" function for the callback?

php delete specific value from array

I have an array $products that looks like this
Array
(
[services] => Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[id] => 1
[icon] => bus.png
[name] => Web Development
[cost] => 500
)
[1] => Array
(
[id] => 4
[icon] => icon.png
[name] => Icon design
[cost] => 300
)
)
)
I am trying to delete the part of array that matches [id] => 1 and for this I am using the following code
$key = array_search('1', $products);
unset($products['services'][$key]);
However it is not working and I am not getting any error either.
What am i doing wrong?
This should work for you:
$key = array_search('1', $products["services"]);
//^^^^^^^^^^^^ See here i search in this array
unset($products['services'][$key]);
print_r($products);
Output:
Array ( [services] => Array ( [1] => Array ( [id] => 4 [icon] => icon.png [name] => Icon design [cost] => 300 ) ) )
And if you want to reindex the array, so that it starts again with 0 you can do this:
$products["services"] = array_values($products["services"]);
Then you get the output:
Array ( [services] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [id] => 4 [icon] => icon.png [name] => Icon design [cost] => 300 ) ) )
//^^^ See here starts again with 0
This will loop through $products['services'] and delete the array whose 'id' key has value 1. array_values just re-indexes the array from 0 again.
foreach($products['services'] as $key => $service)
{
if($product['id'] == 1)
{
unset($products['services'][$key]);
array_values($products['services']);
break;
}
}

How to loop through subarray to see if value is return in string

Here is an example of an array that is output:
Array ( [CART] => Array ( [ITEMS] => Array ( [0] => Array ( [product_id] => 269194 [variation_id] => 0 [options] => Array ( ) [quantity] => 1 [product_name] => 15 Top Hits for Easy Piano [product_code] => HL102668 [product_price] => 14.9900 [original_price] => 14.9900 [default_currency] => 1 [customer_group] => [product_fields] => Array ( ) ) [1] => Array ( [product_id] => 266421 [variation_id] => 0 [options] => Array ( ) [quantity] => 1 [product_name] => Whistle [product_code] => HD245839 [product_price] => 3.9900 [original_price] => 3.9900 [default_currency] => 1 [customer_group] => [product_fields] => Array ( ) ) ) [LAST_UPDATED] => 1349829499 [NUM_ITEMS] => 2 ) [JustAddedProduct] => [CHECKOUT] => Array ( ) )
There is an array for each unique product (in this example there are 2 unique products.) Sometimes there will be just one, sometimes there could be 20 or more unique products.
The value that is important to me is [product_code]. You can see that in the first array, there is [product_code] => HL102668. In the second there is [product_code] => HD245839.
How can I check to see if 'HD' exists in any of the [product_code] values? If it does, I need to return false.
Thank you for your help!
Access your sub array :
$products = $array['CART']['ITEMS'];
Loop through your sub array :
foreach ($products as $product)
Check if HD exists in your product_code, with either simple strstr, or with regex using preg_match (if you are comfortable with it).
if (strstr($product['product_code'], "HD")) {
// Do your actions
}
