I don't know, why do I always come up with weird errors here :D.
Recently I have been facing an error, most like related to PHP-bcmath extension for php7.
The extension is installed in the environment, yet it's not loaded onto the system.
This is confirmed by as when I try to install the extension, this message is shown:
Package php-bcmath-7.0.8-1.el6.remi.x86_64 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do
It's related to WordPress and I'm using amazon AMI Linux to host a WordPress environment.
This extension is required to use a plugin called Wp-Statistics, and I need PHP-bcmath to show the geo-location function.
I tried to install the same extension in another environment which was also a Wordpress site running on Debian, the extension was successfully loaded and the plugin was working well.
Now for this AMI Linux, Is there any way around to load the extension as it says that it's already installed ?
open /etc/apt/sources.list in editor
add:
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/debian/ sid main
deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/debian/ sid main
run apt-get update
and run:
apt-get install php7.0-bcmath

I have an Ubuntu 16.04.6 machine and need the SOAP extension enabled for PHP 7.4, but right now it's only installed for 7.0 The extension itself is present in path /usr/lib/php/20151012/soap.so
I've used apt-get remove php-soap and the apt-get install php-soap but it does not get installed anywhere except the 7.0 folder. I have noticed in the 7.0 folder there are certain files and symlinks, which I have duplicated into the 7.4 folder structure. /etc/php/7.4/mods-available now contains soap.ini and a symlink to it named 20-soap.ini was placed in folder /etc/php/7.4/fpm/conf.d This is in keeping with all the other extensions, which were all installed almost exactly a year ago when I upgraded PHP.
In the php.ini file I have uncommented extension=soap.so and I have tried changing that line to extension=/usr/lib/php/20151012/soap.so
service php7.4-fpm restart
service nginx restart
All this to no avail. Can someone slap me upside the head and tell me what I'm missing? Should I try deleting previous PHP versions, then reinstalling the soap extension? I've seen threads mentioning specific packages for 7.4 such as php7.4-soap but this is not found in my repositories.
Any help is appreciated!
Try this command apt install php7.4-soap
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jczaplicki/xenial-php74-temp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt install php7.4-soap
This is adding an external PPA repository to your system. If you do not trust the maintainer you should not do this, since it possibly exposes your system. Also note that this might work for installing php, but there will not be a guarantee that you recvive updates through it (The word "temp" in the repository name indicates that this is only temporary). I would rather recommend compiling it yourself if you really need to have it installed on 16.04.
Also this will install you php version 7.4.13 , you may have to remove the already installed php 7.4 , and reinstall after you add this ppa
I have a server which has PHP5 installed. I need pthreads and found that link to install php5 with pthreads:
PHP5 installation with pthreads
I install all the packages I need with apt-get install. I have no idea about what a make file is, how to compile a source code etc. I am a web developer with limited OS knowledge.
I have followed the steps given in the link above. At the last command on step 4, I get an error because /opt/php-zts/modules.d/ does not exist.
I simply wanted to replace existing php with a new php installation that supports pthreads. Now, the server code does not work.
How can I install PHP5 with pthreads enabled so that it will replace existing PHP5 installation that I installed with sudo apt-get install php5 libapache2-mod-php5?
Also, I have another question. I need some other packages like php-curl. Can I install them with sudo apt-get install php-curl after I succesfully install PHP? Do these commands work with custom builds?
Edit: how-to-install-pthread-in-ubuntu-12-10 This is not a solution for my problem because I don't want an isolated installation. I want the installation to replace already existing php installation.
When I try to install a module through PHP PECL through cpanel or whm (CENTOS 6.3 x86_64 / WHM 11.34.0 (build 7) ) I always get this result:
ERROR: `/root/tmp/pear/imagick/configure --with-imagick' failed The
Imagick.so object is not in
/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626
Here in another example with html_parse:
ERROR: `/root/tmp/pear/html_parse/configure --with-ekhtml' failed The
html_parse.so object is not in
/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626
I have googled it, done the suggestions and always the same result.
What library are you trying to install?
I've found mixed results using pecl on Redhat, centos, or fedora machinces if I've ever used yum to install their versions of PHP libs. The easiest way around your issue would be to look to see if it's in the Yum repo and install it that way:
yum search 'modulename'
yum install 'packagename'
I usually just do a yum search php and scan down the list of modules.
If you want to use pecl or can't because the libraries aren't part of yum, I'd remove the natively included version and build your PHP from scratch. You can remove PHP and related libraries installed with the distro via yum as well.
I have a similar server setup and I needed pecl_http. Instead of using WHM (Home »
Software » Module Installers) I used command line. Simply typed: pecl install pecl_http
It should be the same for other modules like the html_parse, just change the module name, like: pecl install html_parse
Figured I'd add this for anyone else looking for this info.
i am installing Moodle 2.1 with postgre database. the problem i am facing is that it gives me error
PHP has not been properly configured with the PGSQL extension so that
it can communicate with PostgreSQL. Please check your php.ini file or
recompile PHP.
i have adjusted all the required extension for pgsql. but still i get the same error. i have even created a database in postgre (an empty database) but still i didnt work.
please help me
thanks
Have you tried (command line):
apt-get install php5-pgsql
apache2ctl restart
Or:
sudo apt-get install php5-pgsql
sudo apache2ctl restart
I had a lot of trouble, because the version of Moodle I have (3.3) wants a newer version of php than I have on my Ubuntu 14.04. I had 5.5.9 and Moodle insisted on 5.6. So I upgraded php5 to php5.6 with a special ppa. But what happened was it put the new php5.6 next to the old one. So I kept having trouble with Apache, until I set soft links to libphp5.so from my new libphp5.6.so, and set the conf and load files in mods-available to the new php5.6 versions.
Then I had a problem with the postgresql php driver. I tried installing php5-pgsql and it was always linking back to the old php 5.5.9 on Ubuntu! This did not make moodle happy. Then I discovered that there is a php5.6-pgsql. I uninstalled my php5-pgsql and installed php5.6-pgsql. Uff. And added these two lines to php.ini (inside the /etc/php5/apache2 directory):
extension=/usr/lib/php/20131226/pdo_pgsql.so
extension=/usr/lib/php/20131226/pgsql.so
Now moodle can move on to the next error (the php xml extension)!
sudo apt-get install php5-pgsql fixed it for me despite the fact that my vhost on Plesk runs PHP7.0. Now I can use the CLI in Moodle with PostgreSQL.
All,
I have installed xampp for linux on ubuntu 9.10. The installation directory is /opt/lampp. The xampp website says PEAR comes with the installation.. I am relatively new to PEAR and want to know the answers for following:
Is PEAR installed with xampp or need to be installed separately using synaptic package manager? I browse to /opt/lampp/bin directory and see "pear" there, but when i type it in the command line, it says
"The program 'pear' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install php-pear
pear: command not found
"
I want to use PEAR:SOAP package in my PHP code. How to use that? Do I need to set any paths to the pear in my php.ini?
Thanks
I figured it out.. xampp comes with pear... So, what I did was..
cd /opt/lampp/bin
sudo ./pear install soap
In PHP code, "require_once("SOAP/Client.php");
That's all !! :)
from what I was able to ascertain from my coleagues, you would need to populate pear to be able to use it.
It does come with the installation, but requires the population to be used.
source for code
First, go to your xampp installation
directory/folder and navigate to the
php directory. For me it’s
x:\xamplite\php
x:
cd \xampplite\php
pear install <package-name>
once this is done pear should be available to be used. And as for the second question. XAMPP should have taken care of any settings that were needed. You should not require any additions into the .ini for it to work.
However remember that there are no secuiritis when programming in this fashion, as stated by the XAMPP website.
EDIT**
also you have Pear Ubuntu install guide link that may help.
The error message you got back should be enough. Apparently the pear program isn't in your path. How did you install XAMPP? Did you use the package manager, or did you install it yourself?
If you used the package manager, then this is the correct next step:
sudo apt-get install php-pear
As you were given in the command help. Ubuntu doesn't install a lot of things by default, but it does install a database of stuff you might type, and what package you need to install to get that command to work.
If you installed it yourself, then you need to figure out how to get PEAR to register as being installed.
