simple upload form & double extension - php

I made a simple upload form, but when I try to upload something, the name of the file changes (ex : photo.jpg >> photo.jpg.jpg - double extension).
My code:
$place = realpath($_SERVER["PHP_SELF"]);
$name = $place.$_FILES['file']['name'];
$f1 = strchr($name,'.');
$f2 = strtolower($f1);
$name = $place.$name.$f2;
if ($_POST['up']) {
if (file_exists($name)) {
echo '[-] The File Already Exist ! ';
} else {
$upload = move_uploaded_file($_FILES['file']['tmp_name'],$name);
}
if (isset($upload)) {
echo '[+] The File "'.$_FILES['file']['name'].'" uploaded succsessfully';
}
}

This is because how you create the $name variable.
You first create $name = $place.$_FILES['file']['name']; Where $_FILES['file']['name'] is the full name of the file. With the extension.
After that you say that $name is the path (which makes no logic) and you add the full name of the file and the extension again. Just remove the second $name = $place.$name.$f2;

Codeigniter 4: Uploading files with move_uploaded_file

I just started moving CodeIgniter 3 project to CodeIgniter 4.
Everything works fine except file upload.
I would like to keep the user uploaded files in /writable/uploads. Below is the code I use to move the uploaded file to desired location.
$target_dir = '/writable/uploads/recordings/';
$target_file = $target_dir . basename($_FILES["gfile"]["name"]);
$FileType = pathinfo($target_file,PATHINFO_EXTENSION);
if($FileType != "mp3") {
$vmuploadOk = 1;
}
else
$vmuploadOk = 1;
if ($vmuploadOk == 1) {
$greetfile = $id . "g" . basename($_FILES["gfile"]["name"]);
$target_filenew = $target_dir . $greetfile;
move_uploaded_file($_FILES["gfile"]["tmp_name"], $target_filenew);
}
I assume that it is because CI4 keeps writable folder outside public folder.
You are not using CodeIgniter's built in functions. Everything shown in your code are PHP functions. If you want to leverage built in CI functions, then look through the documentation as linked by #Boominathan Elango.
To get the file from the request:
$file = $this->request->getFile('here_goes_input_name');
As specified here
To move the file using CI function:
$file->move(WRITEPATH.'uploads', $newName);
As specified here
This worked for me and I hope it will also work for you. In codeigniter 4 please use this to upload your files and move it in your controller.
if($imagefile = $this->request->getFiles())
{
if($img = $imagefile['gfile'])
{
if ($img->isValid() && ! $img->hasMoved())
{
$newName = $img->getRandomName(); //This is if you want to change the file name to encrypted name
$img->move(WRITEPATH.'uploads', $newName);
// You can continue here to write a code to save the name to database
// db_connect() or model format
}
}
}
OR
if($img = $this->request->getFile('gfile'))
{
if ($img->isValid() && ! $img->hasMoved())
{
$newName = $img->getRandomName();
$img->move(ROOTPATH . 'public/uploads/images/users', $newName);
// You can continue here to write a code to save the name to database
// db_connect() or model format
}
}
Then in your html input field
<input type="file" name="gfile">
I hope this works else call my attention

trying to append bandname to mp3 upload using $_SESSION['bandname'];

Trying to append $_SESSION['bandname']; to an mp3 file upload, The concept
is when someone uploads a song it append the band name to mp3 bandname_songname.mp3 if that makes sense. here is my code so far.
the problem is with this line i think $aditionalnewFileName = $bandname.="_".$aditionofileName; this strange part is when I use the var_dump($bandname); well instead of the band name its the song I'm testing with string(88) "_police.ogg_police.ogg_police.ogg_police.ogg_police.mp3_police.mp3_police.mp3_police.wav". maybe mysqli would be more simple?
<?php
session_start();
if (isset ($_SESSION ['band_id' ]))
{
$band_id = $_SESSION ['band_id' ];
$bandname = $_SESSION ['bandname' ];
$username = $_SESSION ['username' ];
}
var_dump($_SESSION['bandname']);
ini_set( "max_execution_time", "3600" ); // sets the maximum execution
time of this script to 1 hour.
$uploads_dir = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/mp3';
$aditiontmp_name = $_FILES['song_name']['tmp_name']; // get client
//side file tmp_name
// '/[^A-Za-z0-9\-_\'.]/', '' //$_FILES['song_name']['name']);
$aditionofileName = preg_replace('/[^A-Za-z0-9\-_\'.]/',
'',$_FILES['song_name']['name']); // get client side file name remove
the special character with preg_replace function.
// remove time() to edit name of mp3
$aditionalnewFileName = $bandname.="_".$aditionofileName; //filename
changed with current time
if ( move_uploaded_file($aditiontmp_name,
"$uploads_dir/$aditionalnewFileName")) //Move uploadedfile
{
$uploadFile = $uploads_dir."/".$aditionalnewFileName; //Uploaded file
path
$ext = pathinfo($uploads_dir."/".$aditionalnewFileName,
PATHINFO_EXTENSION); //Get the file extesion.
$uploadFilebasename = basename($uploads_dir."/".$aditionalnewFileName,
".".$ext); //Get the basename of the file without extesion.
$exName = ".mp3";
$finalFile = $uploads_dir."/".$uploadFilebasename.$exName; //Uploaded
file name changed with extesion .mp3
$encode_cmd = "/usr/bin/ffmpeg -i $uploadFile -b:a 256000 $finalFile
2>&1"; // -i means input file -b:a means bitrate 2>&1 is use for debug
command.
exec($encode_cmd,$output); //Execute an external program.
echo "<pre>";
// will echo success , for debugging we can uncomment echo
print_r($output);
// also want to add redirect to this script to send back to profile
after upload
echo "The file was uploaded";
//echo print_r($output); // Report of command excution process.
echo "</pre>";
if($ext !== 'mp3'){ // If the uploaded file mp3 which is not remove
from uploaded directory because we need to convert in to .mp3
unlink( $uploadFile );
}
//0644 vs 0777
chmod( $finalFile, 0777 ); // Set uploaded file the permission.
}
else
{
echo "Uploading failed"; //If uploding failed.
}
?>
so after a while, I decided to go about it a different way. I used mysqli,i quarried the user name and bandname, then used the while loop used var_dump noticed bandname after staring at my code i saw i was editing the wrong line so i change $aditionofileName = preg_replace('/[^A-Za-z0-9-_\'.]/', '',$bandname .
$_FILES['song_name']['name']); and change the line i thought was the problem to $aditionalnewFileName = "_".$aditionofileName; revmoed variable and removed the .
new code below.
<?php
session_start();
if (isset ($_SESSION ['band_id' ]))
{
$band_id = $_SESSION ['band_id' ];
$bandname = $_SESSION ['bandname' ];
$username = $_SESSION ['username' ];
}
if (isset ($_GET ['band_id']))
{ // Yes
$showband = $_GET ['band_id'];
}
else
{ // No
echo "ID not set"; // Just show the member
}
include 'connect.php';
$sql = "SELECT * from members WHERE band_id=$showband";
$result = mysqli_query ($dbhandle, $sql);
while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array ($result))
{
$username = $row ["username" ];
$bandname = $row ["bandname" ];
}
var_dump($bandname);
ini_set( "max_execution_time", "3600" ); // sets the maximum execution time of
this script to 1 hour.
$uploads_dir = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/mp3';
$aditiontmp_name = $_FILES['song_name']['tmp_name']; // get client side file
tmp_name
// '/[^A-Za-z0-9\-_\'.]/', '' //$_FILES['song_name']['name']);
$aditionofileName = preg_replace('/[^A-Za-z0-9\-_\'.]/', '',$bandname .
$_FILES['song_name']['name']); // get client side file name remove the special
character with preg_replace function.
// remove time() to edit name of mp3
$aditionalnewFileName = "_".$aditionofileName; //filename changed with current
time

PHP SSH move file to another directory [duplicate]

I am uploading files to a server using php and while the move_uploaded_file function returns no errors, the file is not in the destination folder. As you can see I am using the exact path from root, and the files being uploaded are lower than the max size.
$target = "/data/array1/users/ultimate/public_html/Uploads/2010/";
//Write the info to the bioHold xml file.
$xml = new DOMDocument();
$xml->load('bioHold.xml');
$xml->formatOutput = true;
$root = $xml->firstChild;
$player = $xml->createElement("player");
$image = $xml->createElement("image");
$image->setAttribute("loc", $target.basename($_FILES['image']['name']));
$player->appendChild($image);
$name = $xml->createElement("name", $_POST['name']);
$player->appendChild($name);
$number = $xml->createElement("number", $_POST['number']);
$player->appendChild($number);
$ghettoYear = $xml->createElement("ghettoYear", $_POST['ghetto']);
$player->appendChild($ghettoYear);
$schoolYear = $xml->createElement("schoolYear", $_POST['school']);
$player->appendChild($schoolYear);
$bio = $xml->createElement("bio", $_POST['bio']);
$player->appendChild($bio);
$root->appendChild($player);
$xml->save("bioHold.xml");
//Save the image to the server.
$target = $target.basename($_FILES['image']['name']);
if(is_uploaded_file($_FILES['image']['tmp_name']))
echo 'It is a file <br />';
if(!(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['image']['tmp_name'], $target))) {
echo $_FILES['image']['error']."<br />";
}
else {
echo $_FILES['image']['error']."<br />";
echo $target;
}
Any help is appreciated.
Eric R.
Most like this is a permissions issue. I'm going to assume you don't have any kind of direct shell access to check this stuff directly, so here's how to do it from within the script:
Check if the $target directory exists:
$target = '/data/etc....';
if (!is_dir($target)) {
die("Directory $target is not a directory");
}
Check if it's writeable:
if (!is_writable($target)) {
die("Directory $target is not writeable");
}
Check if the full target filename exists/is writable - maybe it exists but can't be overwritten:
$target = $target . basename($_FILES['image']['name']);
if (!is_writeable($target)) {
die("File $target isn't writeable");
}
Beyond that:
if(!(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['image']['tmp_name'], $target))) {
echo $_FILES['image']['error']."<br />";
}
Echoing out the error parameter here is of no use, it refers purely to the upload process. If the file was uploaded correctly, but could not be moved, this will still only echo out a 0 (e.g. the UPLOAD_ERR_OK constant). The proper way of checking for errors goes something like this:
if ($_FILES['images']['error'] === UPLOAD_ERR_OK) {
// file was properly uploaded
if (!is_uploaded_File(...)) {
die("Something done goofed - not uploaded file");
}
if (!move_uploaded_file(...)) {
echo "Couldn't move file, possible diagnostic information:"
print_r(error_get_last());
die();
}
} else {
die("Upload failed with error {$_FILES['images']['error']}");
}
You need to make sure that whoever is hosting your pages has the settings configured to allow you to upload and move files. Most will disable these functions as it's a sercurity risk.
Just email them and ask whether they are enabled.
Hope this helps.
your calls to is_uploaded_file and move_uploaded_file vary. for is_uploaded_file you are checking the 'name' and for move_uploaded_file you are passing in 'tmp_name'. try changing your call to move_uploaded_file to use 'name'

php - File Uploading Error

Im trying to add file uploading to my app but for some reason the php script doesnt move the file. I'm using angularjs and the code works fine but in the script it doesn't move/upload the file as it's supposed. Below is the code I have
<?php
$name = $_FILES['filee']['name'];
$tmp_name = $_FILES['filee']['tmp_name'];
$loc = '/media/img/';
if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['filee']['name'], $loc)){
echo $_FILES['filee']['tmp_name'].$loc.$name;
}
?>
I don't see whats wrong with the script!!
you need to use tmp_name in the first argument of move_uploaded_file() function as below
<?php
$name = $_FILES['filee']['name'];
$tmp_name = $_FILES['filee']['tmp_name'];
$loc = 'media/img/'.$name; //desitination needs file name also
if(!is_dir('media/img/') && !file_exists('media/img') ) {
mkdir('media/img',0777,true);
}
if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['filee']['tmp_name'], $loc)){
echo $_FILES['filee']['tmp_name'].$loc.$name;
}
?>
also make sure form has enctype attribute

PHP - Renaming a file to disallow duplicates

So I am using this script to upload a file to a directory and show it live.
<?php
function UploadImage($settings = false)
{
// Input allows you to change where your file is coming from so you can port this code easily
$inputname = (isset($settings['input']) && !empty($settings['input']))? $settings['input'] : "fileToUpload";
// Sets your document root for easy uploading reference
$root_dir = (isset($settings['root']) && !empty($settings['root']))? $settings['root'] : $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'];
// Allows you to set a folder where your file will be dropped, good for porting elsewhere
$target_dir = (isset($settings['dir']) && !empty($settings['dir']))? $settings['dir'] : "/uploads/";
// Check the file is not empty (if you want to change the name of the file are uploading)
if(isset($settings['filename']) && !empty($settings['filename']))
$filename = $settings['filename'] . "sss";
// Use the default upload name
else
$filename = preg_replace('/[^a-zA-Z0-9\.\_\-]/',"",$_FILES[$inputname]["name"]);
// If empty name, just return false and end the process
if(empty($filename))
return false;
// Check if the upload spot is a real folder
if(!is_dir($root_dir.$target_dir))
// If not, create the folder recursively
mkdir($root_dir.$target_dir,0755,true);
// Create a root-based upload path
$target_file = $root_dir.$target_dir.$filename;
// If the file is uploaded successfully...
if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES[$inputname]["tmp_name"],$target_file)) {
// Save out all the stats of the upload
$stats['filename'] = $filename;
$stats['fullpath'] = $target_file;
$stats['localpath'] = $target_dir.$filename;
$stats['filesize'] = filesize($target_file);
// Return the stats
return $stats;
}
// Return false
return false;
}
?>
<?php
// Make sure the above function is included...
// Check file is uploaded
if(isset($_FILES["fileToUpload"]["name"]) && !empty($_FILES["fileToUpload"]["name"])) {
// Process and return results
$file = UploadImage();
// If success, show image
if($file != false) { ?>
<img src="<?php echo $file['localpath']; ?>" />
<?php
}
}
?>
The thing I am worried about is that if a person uploads a file with the same name as another person, it will overwrite it. How would I go along scraping the filename from the url and just adding a random string in place of the file name.
Explanation: When someone uploads a picture, it currently shows up as
www.example.com/%filename%.png.
I would like it to show up as
www.example.com/randomstring.png
to make it almost impossible for images to overwrite each other.
Thank you for the help,
A php noob
As contributed in the comments, I added a timestamp to the end of the filename like so:
if(isset($settings['filename']) && !empty($settings['filename']))
$filename = $settings['filename'] . "sss";
// Use the default upload name
else
$filename = preg_replace('/[^a-zA-Z0-9\.\_\-]/',"",$_FILES[$inputname]["name"]) . date('YmdHis');
Thank you for the help
