Run a php foreach loop on multi-dimensional array - php

I need to run a foreach script on a multi-dimensional array.
The original JSON is formatted like:
{
"_links":{
},
"chatter_count":15,
"chatters":{
"moderators":[
"moderator1",
"moderator2",
"moderator3"
],
"staff":[
"staff1",
"staff2",
"staff3"
],
"admins":[
"admin1",
"admin2",
"admin3"
],
"global_mods":[
"global_mod1",
"global_mod2",
"global_mod3"
],
"viewers":[
"viewer1",
"viewer2",
"viewer3"
]
}
}
Having run json_decode to get a PHP data structure, I'm now lost on how to run a foreach loop to output something like:
chatter_count: 15
moderators:
moderator1
moderator2
moderator3
staff:
staff1
staff2
staff3
admins:
admin1
admin2
admin3
global_mods:
global_mod1
global_mod2
global_mod3
viewers:
viewer1
viewer2
viewer3

First decode the json to array, then make use of $key to print the array:
<?php
$testobj = json_decode(file_get_contents('https://tmi.twitch.tv/group/user/sodapoppin/chatters'), true);
echo "chatter_count:".$testobj['chatter_count']."\n";
foreach($testobj['chatters'] as $key => $chatter){
echo "\n$key:\n";
foreach ($chatter as $value) {
echo "$value\n";
}
}
Output:
I get something like this from the URL you gave:
chatter_count:5461
moderators:
emilydk
fyzicul
hnl
hnlbot
ngmack
nixi93
psychostatik
sodapoppin
staystrong420
sxyhxy
tastyphone
staff:
evoli
pluto
...
...
...

You are just few step behind what you're trying to accomplish. To get chatter_count use $testobj ->chatter_count. And then loop through your chatters array use foreach($testobj->chatters as $key => $value) { // write your logic here }. This way you can get what you're trying to accomplish. I can paste the code here, but I would like you to give a try first. Hope you get your hints now.

PHP
$data = json_decode($json, true);
echo "chatter_count: " . $data["chatter_count"] . "\n";
foreach($data['chatters'] as $chattersK=> $chatters) {
echo $chattersK . ":\n";
foreach($chatters as $chatterK => $chatters) {
echo $chatters . "\n";
}
echo "\n";
}
Demo: Eval.in

Try this code.
And you have to add some style for print.
$testobj = json_decode(file_get_contents("https://tmi.twitch.tv/group/user/sodapoppin/chatters"));
print("chatter_count:", $testobj->chatter_count);
foreach ( $testobj->chatters as $key=>$chatter )
{
print $key;
foreach($chatter as $values){
printf("%s\n", $values);
}
}
Hoping this helps you.

Hello everyone,
This is my array and I want to echo value of only "id" i.e. I want to get value as '115' of key- "id". Please guide me how to make a foreach for this one? I have tried lots of variations but none worked :(
TIA :)
UPDATE-
I have tried this but did not get any result:
foreach($res as $k=>$t)
{
echo $t["product_details"]["id"];
}
Before you can use the JSON as an array you need to convert it first. use json_decode() for that.
<?php
$json='{"2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48":{"id":"115","qty":3,"option":"{\"color\":{\"title\":\"Color\",\"value\":\"\"}}","price":150,"name":"Nightwear","shipping":"5","tax":3,"image":"http:\/\/localhost\/plus\/uploads\/product_image\/product_115_1_thumb.jpg","coupon":"","rowid":"2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48","subtotal":450}}';
$array = json_decode($json, true);
foreach($array as $key=>$value){
echo $value['id'];
}
?>
Assuming you have an array of objects like you provided in your post, I have put your object in an array for testing
<?php
$json = '[{"2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48":{"id":"115","qty":3,"option":"{\"color\":{\"title\":\"Color\",\"value\":\"\"}}","price":150,"name":"Nightwear","shipping":"5","tax":3,"image":"http:\/\/localhost\/plus\/uploads\/product_image\/product_115_1_thumb.jpg","coupon":"","rowid":"2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48","subtotal":450}},'.
'{"2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48":{"id":"116","qty":3,"option":"{\"color\":{\"title\":\"Color\",\"value\":\"\"}}","price":150,"name":"Nightwear","shipping":"5","tax":3,"image":"http:\/\/localhost\/plus\/uploads\/product_image\/product_115_1_thumb.jpg","coupon":"","rowid":"2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48","subtotal":450}}]';
$json = json_decode($json);
foreach ($json as $object){
$propsArray = get_object_vars($object);
reset($propsArray);
echo $object->{key($propsArray)}->id . "<br>\n";
}
exit;
this outputs
115
116
try a live demo (https://eval.in/836364)
$json='{"2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48":{"id":"115","qty":3,"option":"{\"color\":{\"title\":\"Color\",\"value\":\"\"}}","price":150,"name":"Nightwear","shipping":"5","tax":3,"image":"http:\/\/localhost\/plus\/uploads\/product_image\/product_115_1_thumb.jpg","coupon":"","rowid":"2b44928ae11fb9384c4cf38708677c48","subtotal":450}}';
$array = json_decode($json, true); // convert json string to array
$result = array_column($array, 'id'); // find matching array key and return values in array
foreach ($result as $value) { // echo each value with foreach loop

Read and print json array in php

I have a JSON array like below. I want to print only the values of the name. But I am getting undefined index name and getting value of name.below is my json.
[{"docId":{"id":"57dd70252a896558e573a0c8"},"docProfile":{"name":"gowtham","gender":null,"email":null,"mobile":"7406339908"},"docLocalInfo":{"username":"gowtham","otp":934343,"newPasswordToken":null,"tempMobile":"","adminVerfiy":null},"privateInfo":{"mciNumber":null,"aadharNumber":null,"panNumber":null},"tempHospitals":[],"bankInfo":null,"signupSteps":{"accountCreated":true,"otpValidated":true},"notification":null,"hospitals":[],"address":null}]
my code
foreach($doc_array as $data => $mydata)
{
foreach($mydata as $key=>$val)
{
echo $val['name'];
}
}
How to get the values of name from docProfile? Any help would be greatly appreciated
Inside your foreach you don't need to loop again since docProfile is an index of the json object array
Just simple access it
echo $mydata['docProfile']['name'].'<br>';
so your foreach would be like this
foreach($doc_array as $data => $mydata) {
echo $mydata['docProfile']['name'].'<br>';
}
Demo
Try to something Like this.
<?php
$string = '[{"docId":{"id":"57dd70252a896558e573a0c8"},"docProfile":{"name":"gowtham","gender":null,"email":null,"mobile":"7406339908"},"docLocalInfo":{"username":"gowtham","otp":934343,"newPasswordToken":null,"tempMobile":"","adminVerfiy":null},"privateInfo":{"mciNumber":null,"aadharNumber":null,"panNumber":null},"tempHospitals":[],"bankInfo":null,"signupSteps":{"accountCreated":true,"otpValidated":true},"notification":null,"hospitals":[],"address":null}]';
$arr = json_decode($string, true);
echo $arr[0]['docProfile']['name'];
?>
This array just have one row but if your array have more row you can use it;
you need to decode JSON at first.
$doc_array =json_decode($doc_array ,true);
foreach($doc_array as $key=> $val){
$val['docProfile']['name']
}
<?php
$json_str='[{"docId":{"id":"57dd70252a896558e573a0c8"},"docProfile":{"name":"gowtham","gender":null,"email":null,"mobile":"7406339908"},"docLocalInfo":{"username":"gowtham","otp":934343,"newPasswordToken":null,"tempMobile":"","adminVerfiy":null},"privateInfo":{"mciNumber":null,"aadharNumber":null,"panNumber":null},"tempHospitals":[],"bankInfo":null,"signupSteps":{"accountCreated":true,"otpValidated":true},"notification":null,"hospitals":[],"address":null}]';
$json_arr = (array)json_decode($json_str,true);
foreach($json_arr as $iarr => $ia)
{
foreach($ia["docProfile"] as $doc => $docDetails)
{
if($doc =="name")
{
echo $ia["docProfile"]["name"];
}
}
}
?>
This code gives you the answer

get index of json key using php

I want to find index of key from json array similar to this question Get index of a key in json
but i need the solution using php.
here is my json (partial data)
{
"currentOver":{
"events":[]
},
"matchString":"",
"currentPlayer":5,
"previousOvers":[],
"innings":[],
"scorecards":[
{
"batting":{
"players":[
{"id":16447,"name":"Rahul Roy"},
{"id":12633,"name":"Sijal Thomas"},
{"id":16446,"name":"Mohammed Reza"},
{"id":16509,"name":"Asif Khan"},
{"id":12633,"name":"Koyel Dijesh"},
{"id":16468,"name":"Shahrook"},
{"id":64691,"name":"Shafiq"},
{"id":6518,"name":"Ubaidulah"}
]
}
}
]
}
and php
foreach ($read_json->scorecards->batting->players as $batsmen => $val) {
if($val == 5) { // if batsman index is 5 then display his name
$name = $batsmen->name;
echo "<div>$name</div>\n";
}
}
Please help me to solve this issue.Thanks in advance.
I think this would suffice your requirement
http://codepad.org/XQDCKAsB
Find the code sample below as well.
$json = '{"currentOver":{"events": []},"matchString":"","currentPlayer":5,"previousOvers":[],"innings":[],"scorecards":[{"batting":{"players":[{"id":16447,"name":"Rahul Roy"},{"id":12633,"name":"Sijal Thomas"},{"id":16446,"name":"Mohammed Reza"},{"id":16509,"name":"Asif Khan"},{"id":12633,"name":"Koyel Dijesh"},{"id":16468,"name":"Shahrook"},{"id":64691,"name":"Shafiq"},{"id":6518,"name":"Ubaidulah"}]}}]}';
$arr = json_decode($json);
echo '<pre>';
$currentPlayer = $arr->currentPlayer;
echo $arr->scorecards[0]->batting->players[$currentPlayer-1]->name;
Try this code.
$info = json_decode('json string');
$currentPlayer = $info->currentPlayer;
$batsman = $info->scorecards[0]->batting->players[$currentPlayer];
echo "<div>{$batsman->name}</div>\n";
Also, note that arrays in PHP are zero-based. If currentPlayer index in json data is based on 1 (rare case, but it exists sometimes) you will ned to use
$batsman = $info->scorecards[0]->batting->players[$currentPlayer - 1];
to get right item from array.
If you just want to fix your foreach
$read_json->scorecards->batting should become $read_json->scorecards[0]->batting
if($val == 5) should become if($batsmen == 5)
$name = $batsmen->name; should become $name = $val->name;
You need to use json_decode and array_keys for the array keys from the json.
$json = '{ "key1" : "watevr1", "key2" : "watevr2", "key3" : "watevr3" }';
$result = json_decode ($json, true);
$keys = array_keys($result);
print_r($keys); //Array ( [0] => key1 [1] => key2 [2] => key3 )
In Php, You can use the code below, if you wan to fix it using foreach loop
foreach($json->entries as $row)
{
foreach($row as $key => $val)
{
echo $key . ': ' . $val;
echo '<br>';
}
}
please have a look following code
$json=json_decode($data)->scorecards[0]->batting->players;
foreach ($json as $key => $value) {
if($key==5){
echo $value->name ;
}
}
You can do it using converting JSON string to Array
$json_str = '{
"currentOver":{
"events":[]
},
"matchString":"",
"currentPlayer":5,
"previousOvers":[],
"innings":[],
"scorecards":[
{
"batting":{
"players":[
{"id":16447,"name":"Rahul Roy"},
{"id":12633,"name":"Sijal Thomas"},
{"id":16446,"name":"Mohammed Reza"},
{"id":16509,"name":"Asif Khan"},
{"id":12633,"name":"Koyel Dijesh"},
{"id":16468,"name":"Shahrook"},
{"id":64691,"name":"Shafiq"},
{"id":6518,"name":"Ubaidulah"}
]
}
}
]
}';
Decode your JSON string using "json_decode" and you get array
$json_decode_str = json_decode($json_str, true);
Now using foreach you can do anything
if($json_decode_str['scorecards']){
foreach($json_decode_str['scorecards'] as $scorecard){
$player_index = 1;
if($scorecard['batting']['players']){
foreach($scorecard['batting']['players'] as $player){
if($player_index == 5){
echo $player['name'];
}
$player_index++;
}
}
}
}
Maybe this one help you :)

How to parse through multiple layers of JSON

I have some JSON I need to parse in a file test.json.
{
"players":
[
{ "SteamId":123, "Username":"Bob", "Kills":5, "Deaths":7, "Rank":1 },
{ "SteamId":456, "Username":"Nick", "Kills":3, "Deaths":2, "Rank":2 },
{ "SteamId":789, "Username":"Moses" "Kills":8, "Deaths":1, "Rank":3 }
]
}
How can I loop through and display my data. My code so far when I var_dump gives me a NULL
$raw_data = file_get_contents('test.json');
$data = json_decode($raw_data, true);
var_dump($data);
Your code is fine once you place the comma Saty mentioned.
To loop and print some values it would look something like:
foreach($data["players"] as $player){
print "Steam ID: ".$player['SteamId'];
print "Username: ".$player['Username'];
print "Kills: ".$player['Kills'];
print "Deaths: ".$player['Deaths'];
print "Rank: ".$player['Rank'];
}
This could be improved to automatically use the Key value as output with the following:
foreach($data["players"] as $player){
foreach($player as $key => $value){
print $key.": ".$value;
}
}
Depends what you are trying to accomplish and how the data will be viewed, but I expect you would be using HTML template.

Issues with decoding json object

Thanks for your time in reading this post.
My php file is receiving a json object. But I am facing issues while decoding it.
My php code:
$data=$_POST['arg1'];
echo $data;
$json = json_decode($data,true);
echo $json;
$i = 1;
foreach($json as $key => $value) {
print "<h3>Name".$i." : " . $value . "</h3>";
$i++;
}
When I echo data results as below.
{
"SCI-2": {
"quantity": 2,
"id": "SCI-2",
"price": 280,
"cid": "ARTCOTSB"
}
}
When I echo $json, result is as it follows :
Array
Name1 : Array.
Please assist as i need tho access the cid and quantity values in the $data.
json_decode returns an array. And to print array you can use print_r or var_dump.
Now to access your values you can try :
$json["SCI-2"]["quantity"] for quantity and $json["SCI-2"]["cid"] for cid.
Demo : https://eval.in/522350
To access in foreach you need this :
foreach($json as $k) {
foreach($k as $key => $value) {
print "<h3>Name".$i." : " . $value . "</h3>";
}
}
Since you do not know the number of items in your object, use this:
$obj = json_decode($json);
After this, iterate the $obj variable and after that, inside the loop, use the foreach to get each property.
foreach($iteratedObject as $key => $value) {
//your stuff
}
