How do I get multiple results from different rows in a table? - php

I am trying to get all the rows of results from my table 'question' where the quiz ID ($currentQuizID) is the same. My code only allows me to get a single row of data from the table, so what should I do?
$findQuiz = "SELECT QuizID FROM quiz ORDER BY QuizID DESC";
$result = mysqli_query($user->db,$findQuiz);
$iddata = mysqli_fetch_array($result);
$currentQuizID = $iddata['QuizID'];
$findQuestions = "SELECT Type, Question, Answer FROM question WHERE QuizID = '".$currentQuizID."'";
$result2 = mysqli_query($user->db,$findQuestions);
$iddata2 = mysqli_fetch_array($result2);
echo $iddata2[0];
echo $iddata2[1];
echo $iddata2[2];

Add this:
while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result2)) {
echo $row["Type"]." ".$row["Question"]." ".$row["Answer "]."\n";
}

After getting Quiz id's Use while loop to get multiple records from question's table
$findQuiz = "SELECT QuizID FROM quiz ORDER BY QuizID DESC";
$result = mysqli_query($user->db,$findQuiz)
$totalArray = array();
while($iddata = mysqli_fetch_array($result);)
{
$currentQuizID = $iddata['QuizID'];
$findQuestions = "SELECT Type, Question, Answer FROM question WHERE QuizID = '".$currentQuizID."'";
$result2 = mysqli_query($user->db,$findQuestions);
$iddata2 = mysqli_fetch_array($result2);
$res['Type'] = $iddata2[0];
$res['Question'] = $iddata2[1];
$res['Answer'] = $iddata2[2];
array_push($totalArray,$res);
}
print_r($totalArray);

$findQuestions = "SELECT Type, Question, Answer FROM question WHERE QuizID = '".$currentQuizID."'";
$result2 = mysqli_query($user->db,$findQuestions);
$iddata_questions = array();
while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result2)) {
$iddata_questions[] = array($row["Type"],
$row["Question"],
$row["Answer"]);
}
echo "<pre>";
var_dump($iddata_questions);
echo "</pre>;

While loop showing only one record when i use nested while loop for fetch data from another table

I have case manager table where i have inserted court table id as foreign key. i want to fetch record from both tables. when using nested while loop it shows only one row data.
$id = $_SESSION['id'];
$query1 = "SELECT * from `case_manager` where user_id = '$id' ";
$result1 = mysqli_query($conn, "$query1");
while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result1, MYSQLI_ASSOC)) {
$Status = $row['status'];
$id = $row['id'];
$case_type = $row['case_type'];
$court_id = $row['court_id'];
$query2 = "SELECT * from `case_type` where case_id = '$case_type'";
if($result1 = mysqli_query($conn, "$query2")) {
while($row2 = mysqli_fetch_array($result1, MYSQLI_ASSOC)) {
echo $row2['case_name'];
}
}
}
Because you are overwritting you $result1 change inner query result to $result2 then try
$id = $_SESSION['id'];
$query1 ="SELECT * from `case_manager` where user_id = '$id' ";
$result1 = mysqli_query($conn , "$query1");
while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result1 ,MYSQLI_ASSOC)) {
$Status=$row['status'];
$id = $row['id'];
$case_type = $row['case_type'];
$court_id = $row['court_id'];
$query2 ="SELECT * from `case_type` where case_id = '$case_type'";
if($result2 = mysqli_query($conn , "$query2")){;
while ($row2 = mysqli_fetch_array($result2 ,MYSQLI_ASSOC)) {
echo $row2['case_name'];
}
}
}
1st : Because you are overwriting the variable $result1 In second query execution.
if($result1 = mysqli_query($conn , "$query2")){;
^^^^^^^^ ^^
Note : And remove that unnecessary semicolon .
2nd : No need multiple query simple use join
SELECT cm.*,c.* from `case_manager` cm
join `case_type` c
on cm.cas_type=c.case_id
where cm.user_id=$id;
You can use below query to fetch your record:
$query = SELECT case_manager.* ,case_type.case_name FROM case_manager Left JOIN case_type ON case_manager.case_type=case_type.case_id where case_manger.user_id = $id;
While($row = mysql_fetch_array()){
echo $row['case_name'];
}

Getting exact value from fetched array from MySql

Not a duplicate of Select specific value from a fetched array
I have a MySql database as:
Here's my query:
$sql = "SELECT * FROM data ORDER BY Score DESC";
I want it to be a leaderboard which people can update their scores so I can't use
$sql = "SELECT * FROM data ORDER BY Score DESC WHERE ID = 1";
I want to get Username of the second row in my query.So I wrote:
<?php
include "l_connection.php";
$sql = "SELECT * FROM data ORDER BY Score";
$result = mysqli_query($conn, $sql);
if($result->num_rows>0){
while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result, MYSQLI_ASSOC)){
}
echo "Result = '".$row[1]['Username']."''";
}
?>
But it returns Result = '' like there's nothing in the array.
But if I write
if($result->num_rows>0){
while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result, MYSQLI_ASSOC)){
echo "Name = '".$row['Username']."''";
}
}
It will return : Parham, Mojtaba, Gomnam, Masoud,
So what am I doing wrong in the first snippet?
You can not access $row outside of while loop.
So store result in one new array, and then you can access that new array outside the while loop:
$newResult = array();
if($result->num_rows>0){
while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result, MYSQLI_ASSOC)){
$newResult[] = $row;
}
}
echo "Result = '".$newResult[1]['Username']."''"; // thus you can access second name from array
Because you write where condition after ORDER by at
$sql = "SELECT * FROM data ORDER BY Score DESC WHERE ID = 1";
The sequence of query is
SELECT * FROM data // select first
WHERE ID = 1
ORDER BY Score DESC// Order by at last
Check http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/select.html
And for second case you need to fetch Username inside while loop and use $row['Username'] instead $row[1]['Username']
while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result, MYSQLI_ASSOC)){
echo "Result = '".$row['Username']."''";// write inside while loop
}
You can assign row value to any array and use that array.
<?php
include "l_connection.php";
$sql = "SELECT * FROM data ORDER BY Score";
$result = mysqli_query($conn, $sql);
if($result->num_rows>0){
$rows = array();
while ($row = mysqli_fetch_array($result, MYSQLI_ASSOC)){
$rows[] = $row;
}
echo "Result = '".$rows[1]['Username']."'";
}
?>
Or if you want only second highest score from column you can user limit as
$sql = "SELECT * FROM data ORDER BY Score limit 1,1";

How can i join or implode the below array code?

In the below code i want to join or implode all arrays of $trackersurl in a single line. i am getting the results in different lines, so i want to join in a single line.
Can anyone help me out?
I am searching results in stackoverflow, but could not follow.
My code is in below:
$sql = "SELECT * FROM announce WHERE torrent = $id ORDER BY seeders DESC";
$query = #mysql_query($sql);
while ($result = #mysql_fetch_array($query)) {
$trackersurl1 = $result['url'];
$trackersurl2 = "&tr=".$trackersurl1;
$trackersurl = array($trackersurl2);
}
Results of [var.trackersurl] in html page is below:
&tr=http:ajgdsjhg/ann
&tr=udp://iuysidfu/ann
&tr=udp:wutefghgw/ann
&tr=http://sdhgsjdhgj/ann
I want to join them in a single line below
&tr=http:ajgdsjhg/ann&tr=udp://iuysidfu/ann&tr=udp:wutefghgw/ann&tr=http://sdhgsjdhgj/ann
You should be careful of sql injection.
Are you looking to create an array['trackers'] with a string of all the trackers for a magnet link?
<?php
$sql = "SELECT * FROM announce WHERE torrent = ".mysql_real_escape_string($id)." ORDER BY seeders DESC";
$query = mysql_query($sql);
$tracker = null;
if(mysql_num_rows($query)>=1){
while ($result = mysql_fetch_array($query)) {
$tracker .= "&tr=".$result['url'];
}
}
$tracker = array('trackers'=>$tracker);
//$tracker['trackers'] = "&tr=a.com&tr=b.com&tr=c.com";
?>
Try this code
$newArray=array();
while ($result = #mysql_fetch_array($query)) {
$trackersurl1 = $result['title'];
$newArray[] = "&tr=".$trackersurl1;
}
$urlString=implode('',$newArray);

Counting rows from table B using id from table A php mysql

I must be exhausted because I know I have done this before but I can't remember how I did or or find that snippet. I have two tables "questions" and "answers". The primary "id" from "questions" is also "id" in "answers". I'm trying to count "answers" based on "id" from that table.
<?php
$query = "SELECT * FROM questions ORDER BY id DESC";
$result = mysql_query("$query");
while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)){
$id = $row['id'];
$date = $row['date'];
$question = $row['question'];
$time = date("U");
$likes = $row['likes'];
$query2 = "SELECT * FROM answers WHERE id = $id";
$num_rows = mysql_num_rows($query2);
print("<span style='font-size: .7em';><a href='qplusone.php?id=$id'>+1</a>
- Likes:$likes</span> $question - <a href='answer.php?id=$id&pp=$time'>answer it</a>
or <a href='answers.php?id=$id&pp=$time'>read $num_rows answers</a>
<span style='font-size: .7em';>($date)</span><br />");
}
?>
Well, first of all you never execute $query2. But even better than returning all the rows and counting them, simply return the number of rows counted by mysql.
$query2 = "SELECT count(*) FROM answers WHERE id = $id";
$result = mysql_query($q);
$row = mysql_fetch_array($result);
$count = $row['count(*)']; // $count holds the number of matching records.
To get the count of answers per question you can do this
select q.id,
count(*) as answers
from answer a
left join questions q on q.id = a.id
group by q.id

Creating an array of IDs from a while loop

Im trying to generate an array but not sure how to go about it.
I'm currently getting my data like so:
$query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE userEmail LIKE 'test#test.com'");
$row = mysql_fetch_array($query);
$query1 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM categories");
while($row1 = mysql_fetch_array($query1)){
$query2 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM usersettings WHERE userId = ".$row['userId']." AND usersettingCategory".$row1['categoryId']." LIKE 'y'");
$isyes = mysql_num_rows($query2);
if($isyes > 0){
$cat1 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM shops WHERE shopstateId = 1 AND (categoryId1 = ".$row1['categoryId']." OR categoryId2 = ".$row1['categoryId']." OR categoryId3 = ".$row1['categoryId'].")");
$cat1match = mysql_num_rows($cat1);
if($cat1match > 0){
while($cat1shop = mysql_fetch_array($cat1)){
$cat1msg = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM messages WHERE shopId = ".$cat1shop['shopId']." and messagestateId = 1");
while($cat1msgrow = mysql_fetch_array($cat1msg)){
echo $cat1msgrow['messageContent']." - ".$cat1msgrow['messageCode'];
$cat1img = mysql_query("SELECT shopimagePath FROM shopimages WHERE shopimageId = ".$cat1shop['shopimageId']);
$imgpath = mysql_fetch_array($cat1img);
echo " - ".$imgpath['shopimagePath']."<br/>";
}
}
}
}
}
But this can cause duplicates when a user has all 3 of a shops categories picked in their preferences. I am trying to find a way to just pull the message ID out instead of the whole thing and put it into an array giving me, for example:
1,3,5,7,1,3,5,2,4,7,8
Then I can just run a separate query to say get me all messages where the ID is in the array, but i am unsure of the most constructive way to build such an array and examples of array from a while loop I have seen do not seem to be what I am looking for.
Is there anyone out there that can push me in the right direction?
Can't help with this code. But if you want an array from a query without duplicate result, you can use " select DISTINCT (id) " in your query or for more simple solution :
$id_arr = array();
$sql = mysql_query("select id from id_table");
while ($id_result = mysql_fetch_array($sql) {
$id = $id_result['id'];
if (!in_array($id, $id_arr)) {
$id_arr[] = $id;
}
}
I have found a much easier way to create the required result. I think at 6am after a hard night coding my brain was fried and I was making things a lot more complicated than I needed to. A simple solution to my issue is as follows:
$query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE userEmail LIKE 'test2#test2.com'");
$row = mysql_fetch_array($query);
$categories = "(";
$query1 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM categories");
while($row1 = mysql_fetch_array($query1)){
$query2 = mysql_query("SELECT usersettingCategory".$row1['categoryId']." FROM usersettings WHERE userId = ".$row['userId']);
$row2 = mysql_fetch_array($query2);
if($row2['usersettingCategory'.$row1['categoryId']] == y){
$categories .= $row1['categoryId'].",";
}
}
$categories = substr_replace($categories ,")",-1);
echo $categories."<br />";
$query3 = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM shops,messages WHERE shops.shopId = messages.shopId AND messages.messagestateId = 1 AND (shops.categoryId1 IN $categories OR shops.categoryId2 IN $categories OR shops.categoryId3 IN $categories)");
while($row3 = mysql_fetch_array($query3)){
$query4 = mysql_query("SELECT shopimagePath FROM shopimages WHERE shopimageId = ".$row3['shopimageId']);
$row4 = mysql_fetch_array($query4);
echo $row3['messageContent']." - ".$row3['messageCode']." - ".$row4['shopimagePath']."<br />";
}
