Any way to rewrite an URL and give PHP variable to it? - php

I want to rewrite my URL's, each url looks like below :
http://www.mywebsite.com/projet-in.php?idProjet=57
And each project got a special name given by database.
My question here is : Is this possible to rewrite my url's like that ? :
http://www.mywebsite.com/ProjectName

if the project name is unique, yes it is possible : search your project by name instead of searching by id
use this rewrite rule :
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d # not a dir
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f # not a file**
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ projet-in.php?name=$1&%{QUERY_STRING} [NC,L]
this way, when the user goes to http://foo.fr/projectName apache will theat the request as http://foo.fr/projet-in.php?name=projectName so you will get the project in GET parameters in PHP
your new php code will be
<?php
$db = new Database();
$project = $db->findByProjectName($_GET['name']);

Rewrite Dynamic URL In PHP Using .htaccess

I wanted to rewrite url in following pattern
My current url is:
xyz.com/news_details.php?id=120&title=hello-world
and I want the url as is:
xyz.com/hello-world
also I wanted to fetch the values of id on this page like:
$id = $_REQUEST['id'];
please help
I did use the following code:
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} /news_details.php\?id=([^&\s]) [NC]
RewriteRule ^ /%2\.html? [NC,R,L,NE]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^-])\.html$ /news_details.php?id=$2 [QSA,L,NC]
You could do something like this :
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^/(.*)/(.*)$ /news_details.php?title=$1&id=$2
To achieve links like http://example.net/hello-world/120.
The ^/(.*)/(.*)$ part tells apache the pattern that it will follow. The second part (news_details.php?title=$1&id=$2) gives apache the real link that it will apply the pattern on.
You can't exactly hide arguments from the user, because you need a way to get the id that you want to have as the id argument. So that's the only possible way to do that.
You can read more about it here.

Secure url parameter

ok,Let me explain you step by step,Point is im new for this developments.
php files in my cproject directory :
allproducts.php
watch.php
in allproducts.php im displaying all the products available in the database. and every products has it own url. In my watch.php im displaying certain data according to a parameter comes from the allproducts.php page.
in my allproducts.php page i have this url :
http://localhost/cproject/watch?v=
url looks like something like this :
localhost/cproject/watch?v=J46TKlqSw3Gt4sk
at the moment i wrote a rewriterule for make watch.php in to "watch"
now what i want is to get rid of this "?" mark in to "/" and "v= " into "/"
so i want my rul to looks like this
localhost/cproject/watch/J46TKlqSw3Gt4sk
i hope now u do understand what i want to do actually ?
if i suddenly explain you what i have on my .htaccess file for this watch.php
i have this line of code
RewriteRule ^watch watch.php [NC,L]
You have to use .htaccess for doing url this.
.htaccess file code
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php?/$1 [L]
For PHP version less than 5.2.6 try this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]
If you need to get the parameter from the url then use:
javascript
var str = "http://localhost/cproject/watch?v=J46TKlqSw3Gt4sk";
var param = str.split("=")[1];
alert(param);
Result
J46TKlqSw3Gt4sk
With the new url
var str = "http://localhost/cproject/J46TKlqSw3Gt4sk";
var param = str.split("/");
alert(param[param.length - 1]);
Result
J46TKlqSw3Gt4sk
For the .htaccess file you can use this RewriteRule which will forward the urls with just a / to the url with /watch?v=.
RewriteRule ^cproject/(.*) cproject/watch?v=$1 [NC]
For example:
Start URL http://localhost/cproject/eeeeeeeaf
End URL http://localhost/cproject/watch?v=eeeeeeeaf
But what i want is to get a url like i have mentioned above and get the parameter in a different page
You can do this with PHP from the /watch file by using the REQUEST_URI element in the $_SERVER[] array.
For the PHP code you could do:
<?php
$request = $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];
$exploded = explode("/", $request);
$id = $exploded[4];
echo $id;
?>
In regards to your additions to your question, it is easy to do as I have put above. Instead of what I have put, you can instead just use:
RewriteRule ^watch/(.*) watch.php?v=$1 [NC,L]
You can add this rule alongside your current rule (preferably after) and it should function as you require.
now what i want is to get rid of this "?" mark in to "/" and "v= " into "/" so i want my rul to looks like this localhost/cproject/watch/J46TKlqSw3Gt4sk
The URL RewriteRule I provided will do this :)
Have you actually tested the rewrites you have been provided with?

how to redirect a URL according to get variables in URL

I am trying to change my website URL according to get variables so that I can increase the security of my website.
For example I want to change my address, this is my htaccess file:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /category.php?cat_id=$1&mode=full&start=$1
And my website URL is:
http://joinexam.in/category.php?cat_id=17&mode=full&start=36
I want to convert this URL to:
http://joinexam.in/category/1736
where cat_id = 17
and start= 36
So it will become 1736 after the category.php page, I am trying to do it by using .htaccess file.
Here I want to take both cat_id and start as get variable, then according to these get variables, I want to change the URL of my website.
Can anyone explain the correct way to achieve this?
.htaccess
This forwards every URL to index.php.
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{SCRIPT_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^.*$ ./index.php
PHP
Get the "original" URL inside index.php:
// this gives you the full url
$request_uri = $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI'];
// split the path by '/'
$params = split("/", $request_uri);
Then you might route based on these $params.
As a good and fast router lib i suggest: https://github.com/nikic/FastRoute
By using this, you don't have to mess around with htaccess regexp stuff and can keep things at the PHP level :)

Can't get mod_rewrite to work

I am trying to get url from:
192.168.0.1/movie-page.php?id=123
to:
192.168.0.1/movie/movie-name
or even (for now):
192.168.0.1/movie/123
I've simplified it by using this url (to get something working):
192.168.0.1/pet_care_info_07_07_2008.php TO 192.168.0.1/pet-care/
my .htaccess file:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^pet-care/?$ pet_care_info_07_07_2008.php [NC,L]
What am I doing wrong? I've tried many combinations but no luck and my patience is running out...
I am running this on my local NAS which should have mod_rewrite enabled by default. I have tested .htaccess by entering random string in .htaccess file and opening the page, I got 404 error. I assume this means that .htaccess is being used since the page stops functioning if the file is malformed.
If you want to rewrite:
192.168.0.1/movie-page.php?id=123 too
192.168.0.1/movie/movie-name or 192.168.0.1/movie/123
Then you would do something like, but will require you manually add a rewrite for any new route (fancy url) you want, and eventually you may want your script to create routes dynamically or have a single entry point to sanitize:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^movie/([a-zA-Z0-9-]+)$ movie-page.php?id=$1 [L]
So a better method is to route everything through the rewrite:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?route=$1 [L,QSA]
Then handle the route by splitting the $_GET['route'] with explode()
<?php
//192.168.0.1/movie/movie-name
$route = (isset($_GET['route'])?explode('/',$_GET['route']):null);
if(!empty($route)){
//example
$route[0]; //movie
$route[1]; //movie-name
}
?>
You want something like this:
RewriteRule ^movie/([0-9]*)$ /movie-page.php?id=$1 [L,R=301]
That will give the movie ID version with a numeric ID.

url rewrite using php and .htaccess

this question is Basic but important. i need to rewrite php url using .htaccess . e.x one : i have many file with .php extension . e.x two : i need seo url friendly with name and html extension.
example 1 :
http://mydomain.com/editname.php
http://mydomain.com/location.php
.....
I need to rewrite all to :
http://mydomain.com/editname/
http://mydomain.com/location/
example 2 :
http://mydomain.com/name.php?id=1
http://mydomain.com/state.php?id=1
rewrite to : ( john & bsw is really name and inserted to mysql)
http://mydomain.com/name/1/john.html
http://mydomain.com/state/1/bsw.html
NOTE : If non of this, redirect to 404 not found page.
thanks.
To redirect simple folders to PHP files:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^/])/$ /$1.php [L]
And then do redirect your SEO friendly URLs:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^([^/])/([0-9]+)/([^/])\.html$ /$1.php?id=$2 [L,QSA]
The RewriteCond lines check to make sure the request isn't already a valid file.
