I've got this query in Laravel that's returning all forums with some extra information:

but now it eager loads all related messages as well but I only need the author from a message. How could I get this result?
Assuming the table you have for your Message model is messages and that it has the columns forum_id and user_id, and the table for your User model is users you could just define a belongsToMany and get the information that way:
public function users()
{
return $this->belongsToMany(User::class, 'messages')->distinct();
}
then:
return Forum::with(['users' => function($query){
$query->select('users.id', 'users.name');
}])->withCount('messages')->paginate(10);

Try using
return Forum::with([

This also eager loads but you only get id and author. id is needed to make the relationship with user.

This work good, but now I need one item from post called hash in this result, is it possible to get any data from through (Post table). Already able to get any data from file and user but how can I get data from through (Post table) ?

You should use hasOne in your model:
public function post(){
return $this->hasOne('App\Post', 'id', 'post_id');
}
And in your controller you can use eager loading but I noticed you get null, in order for this to work, you also have to select the id:
$files = File::where('agent_id', $user->id)->with('user:phone,name', 'post:id,hash')->get(['post_id', 'status']);
If your File table has a post_id, and between posts and files table there is a One to Many relation, just declare a new relation:
public function post(){
return $this->belongsTo('App\Post', 'post_id', 'id');

Also keep in mind that if inside a with you want to select only specific fields, you can just do ->with('user:phone,name')
I have the following relationships:
TheEpisodeJob hasOne TheEpisode
TheEpisodeJob hasMany TheJobs
I am successfuly retrieving all TheEpisodesJobs and TheSeriesEpisodes with all the fields in database (including sensitive information) using this command:
$jobs = TheEpisodeJob::with('TheEpisode')->get();
I would like to limit TheEpisode fields shown only for this case (public $hidden will not work)

As #Buglinjo pointed out you can scope the relationship when eager loading, however, if you're going to be doing this to only select specific columns you must included the related column in the select so that Eloquent knows which Model to attach the related data to.
This should give you what you want:
$jobs = TheEpisodeJob::with(['TheEpisode' => function ($query) {
$query->select('jobID', 'title', 'description');
}])->get();
Furthermore, if you then wanted to to get rid of the jobID as well you could do something like:
$jobs->transform(function ($job) {
$job->TheEpisode->transform(function ($item) {
unset($item->jobID);
return $item;
});
return $job;
});

As far as I understood you, you want to limit the results according to some more parameters. If I am right, you should add more queries, like:
->where, ->orwhere, ->select, ->whereNull

You should do like this:

Note: pluck is getting as array not as Eloquent Object.
I would like to display the posts of everyone the current user follows, ordered by date desc.
I have a many to many relationship supplying all the people the user is following.
$users = User::find(Auth::user()->id)->follow()->get();
I have a one to many relationship displaying the posts for any user.
$updates = App\User::find(?????)->updates()->orderBy('created_at', 'desc')->get();
The question mark's shows where the followers ID's need to be placed.
I can put the above query inside the for each loop but that obviously works its way through each follower rather than all posts in date order.
I suspect I may need to set a new relationship and work from the beginning. Can anyone advise.

Since you want the posts, it is probably going to be easier starting a query on the Post model, and then filter the posts based on their relationships.
Assuming your Post model has an author relationship to the User that created the post, and the User has a follower relationship to all the Users that are following it, you could do:
$userId = Auth::user()->id;
$posts = \App\Post::whereHas('author.follower', function ($q) use ($userId) {
return $q->where('id', $userId);
})
->latest() // built in helper method for orderBy('created_at', 'desc')
->get();
Now, $posts will be a collection of your Post models that were authored by a user that is being followed by your authenticated user.
I'm trying to give ability on user to see his orders. How can I query the database.. I'm trying something like this but I got empty page.. I mean nothing from database. May be my query ins't correct.

Ok, so based on your route+button+model do it like this
$orders = self::$user->orders()->orderBy('order_id', 'asc')->get();
return View::make('site.users.orders', [
'orders' => $orders
]);
this should work.. You can remove orderBy clause if you don't need it.
If you have Authentication set properly you can do the following.

When you use the relationship without using the calling parentheses you get a collection of models which are queried if they're not already loaded. This is called lazy loading, if you want to load a relationship before accessing it you can use eager loading. In this case, it is not necessary though.
In the documentation of Eloquent it is said that I can pass the keys of a desired relationship to hasManyThrough.
Lets say I have Models named Country, User, Post. A Country model might have many Posts through a Users model. That said I simply could call:
$this->hasManyThrough('Post', 'User', 'country_id', 'user_id');
This is fine so far! But how can I get these posts only for the user with the id of 3 ?

This allows us to use hasManyThrough like in your question:

You want to get posts of a given user for this relation, so:

$q->where('users.id', '=', 3);
});
})
$country->posts; // collection of posts related to user with id 3
BUT it will be easier, more readable and more eloquent if you use this instead:
(since it has nothing to do with country when you are looking for the posts of user with id 3)

return $this->hasMany('Post');
}
// then
$user = User::find(3);
// lazy load
$user->load('posts');
// or use dynamic property
$user->posts; // it will load the posts automatically
// or eager load

To sum up: hasManyThrough is a way to get nested relation directly, ie. all the posts for given country, but rather not to search for specific through model.
$user_id = 3;
$country = Country::find($country_id);
$country->posts()->where('users.id', '=', $user_id)->get();
$this->hasManyThrough('Post', 'User', 'country_id', 'user_id')->where(column,x);
What happen here is you get the collection in return you can put any condition you want at the end.
