I am new to laravel. I want to implement the login and registeration using laravel auth. I have implemented the login and registration flow successfully but I am not able to implement reset password.
I am facing the following issue:
1. After submitting the username/email some processing happens but I am not able to send the password reset link using the email. It always got a screen which says we have emailed your password reset link but nothing is happening. The entries are being made in the password_resets table.
Any help will be much appreciated.
I am using the gmail to send the password reset emails. After doing a lot of debugging everything looks fine apart from ResetPassword.php file which is executed till
public function via($notifiable)
{
// echo "<pre>".print_r($notifiable,1)."</pre>";exit("<br/>sdds");
return ['mail'];
}
There is a function in this file which is created to send the emails but this function is not going called. The function is given below :
/**
* Build the mail representation of the notification.
*
* #param mixed $notifiable
* #return \Illuminate\Notifications\Messages\MailMessage
*/
public function toMail($notifiable)
{
echo "<pre>".print_r($notifiable,1)."</pre>";exit();
return (new MailMessage)
->line('You are receiving this email because we received a password reset request for your account.')
->action('Reset Password', route('password.reset', $this->token))
->line('If you did not request a password reset, no further action is required.');
}

I want tp apply queue for my Notifications, so I implemented that at my Notification which ResetPassword:
class ResetPassword extends Notification implements ShouldQueue
Then I ran php artisan queue:table and migrate it so the table jobs created successfully at the DB.
And also change the QUEUE_CONNECTION to database at .env file and re-run php artisan serve.
But when I test this and clicked on reset password link, a new table row must be added to jobs table but it does not.
And instead of that, this error returns:
ErrorException Undefined property:
App\Notifications\ResetPassword::$queue
...\notification\vendor\laravel\framework\src\Illuminate\Notifications\NotificationSender.php:195
So what is going wrong here ? How can I fix this issue ?
I would really appreciate any idea or suggestion from you guys...
Thanks in advance.

Look Like you have forgot to use Queueable Trait in your notification
use Illuminate\Bus\Queueable;
class ResetPassword extends Notification implements ShouldQueue
{
use Queueable;
Queueable trait has propety $queue
Ref:https://laravel.com/docs/8.x/notifications#queued-notifications-and-database-transactions
I have a laravel API project. I want to be able to send a login request and get back a token depending on some custom logic. I am not using a database so i cant use the default auth.
I have set up a provider called AuthCustomProvider.
namespace App\Providers;
use Auth;
use App\Authentication\UserProvider;
use Illuminate\Support\ServiceProvider;
class AuthCustomProvider extends ServiceProvider
{
/**
* Perform post-registration booting of services.
*
* #return void
*/
public function boot()
{
Auth::provider('custom_auth', function($app, array $config) {
return new UserProvider();
});
}
/**
* Register bindings in the container.
*
* #return void
*/
public function register()
{
//
}
}
I have then added this to the config/app.php file in the providers array:
'providers' => [
App\Providers\AuthCustomProvider::class,
Then i added my custom providers driver to the config/auth.php file in the providers array:
'providers' => [
'users' => [
'driver' => 'custom_auth',
],
],
As im not using a database, I took out the model property
Lastly I created a folder called App/Authentication which i put my UserProvider.php file in which is this:
<?php
namespace App\Authentication;
use Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\UserProvider as IlluminateUserProvider;
class UserProvider implements IlluminateUserProvider
{
/**
* #param mixed $identifier
* #return \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable|null
*/
public function retrieveById($identifier)
{
// Get and return a user by their unique identifier
}
/**
* #param mixed $identifier
* #param string $token
* #return \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable|null
*/
public function retrieveByToken($identifier, $token)
{
// Get and return a user by their unique identifier and "remember me" token
}
/**
* #param \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable $user
* #param string $token
* #return void
*/
public function updateRememberToken(Authenticatable $user, $token)
{
// Save the given "remember me" token for the given user
}
/**
* Retrieve a user by the given credentials.
*
* #param array $credentials
* #return \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable|null
*/
public function retrieveByCredentials(array $credentials)
{
// Get and return a user by looking up the given credentials
}
/**
* Validate a user against the given credentials.
*
* #param \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable $user
* #param array $credentials
* #return bool
*/
public function validateCredentials(Authenticatable $user, array $credentials)
{
// Check that given credentials belong to the given user
}
}
So lastly i make a function on the login controller. This is what the api call goes to:
public function Login(Request $request)
{
$user = Consultant::lookup('UserId', 1);
//Returns collection of user details (user id, username etc)
//Logic will go here in the future
$logThemIn = true;
if ($logThemIn)
{
auth()->login($user);
//return oauth2 token
}
}
So this is where im at now, if i run this, im getting the error:
'Declaration of App\Authentication\UserProvider::updateRememberToken(App\Authentication\Authenticatable $user, $token) must be compatible with Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\UserProvider::updateRememberToken(Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable $user, $token)'
Im new to laravel and there isnt alot of tutorials for what im trying to do that i can find. Any help is greatly appriciated
Change your UserProvider to this which uses Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable instead of App\Authentication\Authenticatable, php will load a class from the current namespace if one isn't specified.
<?php
namespace App\Authentication;
use Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\UserProvider as IlluminateUserProvider;
use Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable;
class UserProvider implements IlluminateUserProvider
{
/**
* #param mixed $identifier
* #return \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable|null
*/
public function retrieveById($identifier)
{
// Get and return a user by their unique identifier
}
/**
* #param mixed $identifier
* #param string $token
* #return \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable|null
*/
public function retrieveByToken($identifier, $token)
{
// Get and return a user by their unique identifier and "remember me" token
}
/**
* #param \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable $user
* #param string $token
* #return void
*/
public function updateRememberToken(Authenticatable $user, $token)
{
// Save the given "remember me" token for the given user
}
/**
* Retrieve a user by the given credentials.
*
* #param array $credentials
* #return \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable|null
*/
public function retrieveByCredentials(array $credentials)
{
// Get and return a user by looking up the given credentials
}
/**
* Validate a user against the given credentials.
*
* #param \Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable $user
* #param array $credentials
* #return bool
*/
public function validateCredentials(Authenticatable $user, array $credentials)
{
// Check that given credentials belong to the given user
}
}
You forgot to import Authenticatable. Just add:
use Illuminate\Contracts\Auth\Authenticatable;
I need to get Forgot Password functionality in my web app, so i am using laravel for this. When i click on the forgot password it shows me the a form that takes email on which i need to reset password when i click on the reset password button it sends a mail on the linked id, and when i click on the link in the mail it redirect me to the change password page that has password and confirm password field when i click on the reset password it redirects me to home link.
The issue is "first time it changes my password successfully", but when i tried for another account to reset password, when clicking on the link on the mail it redirects me to home other than the password change form and it happens for the all account now.
What is the problem that causes the above issue please explain and how to resolve this issue

You'll notice the in the ResetPasswordController we have:
protected function resetPassword($user, $password)
{
$user->password = Hash::make($password);
$user->setRememberToken(Str::random(60));
$user->save();
event(new PasswordReset($user));
$this->guard()->login($user);
}
After the password is reset, it logs the user in. However, we are also using the guest middleware in the same class:
public function __construct()
{
$this->middleware('guest');
}
Therefore if you try to visit the password reset page while logged in, you will be redirected. So just log out first.
I am to append the users email address in the URL when doing password reset, so the reset url would look like this http://blog.dev/password/reset/4cfbb048346474aab7080c88f16c34b9ea377b9ea35804387216fce303a38855?email=test%40gmail.com
However I get the error FatalErrorException in CustomResetPassword.php line 54: Call to undefined method App\Notifications\CustomResetPassword::getEmailForPasswordReset()

namespace App\Notifications;

Am I missing something here?
$this refer to your actual class, you're trying to use getEmailForPasswordReset method of CustomResetPassword but this method doesn't exist.
You can pass the email to the notification as you did for the token.
I'm on Laravel 5.3 and I'm using view and I intend to share a variable globally to all of my views and this global variable contents the user's info who is currently logged in.
<?php
namespace App\Http\Controllers;
use Illuminate\Http\Request;
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\Auth;
use View;
//use models
use App\profile;
class HomeController extends Controller
{
/**
* Create a new controller instance.

*/
public function __construct()
{
$this->middleware('auth');
View::share('user_info',profile::where('username',Auth::user()->username)->get());
}
public function index()
{
$current_page = 'home';
return view('pages.home');
}
}
but unfortunately it gives me this error
ErrorException in HomeController.php line 27: Trying to get property
of non-object
and the line 27 is this line
View::share('user_info',profile::where('username',Auth::user()->username)->first());
it seem's like the problem is 'Auth::user()->username' because If I manually specify the username, it gives me the collection I need.
Any ideas, help please?

It seems you're running this code when user is not logged in, so you could do a check:
View::share('user_info', auth()->check() ? profile::where('username', auth()->user()->username)->first() : null);
This code will return profile or null if user is not logged in.
change this
if ($this->guard()->attempt($credentials, $request->has('remember'))) {
return $this->sendLoginResponse($request);
}
to
if (Auth::attempt($credentials, $request->has('remember'))) {
return $this->sendLoginResponse($request);
}
