I have a code below the submit action, however before this screen, i have a login screen. So with the current
i want to add to the "thisuser" input value below form. Current value is "TEST+USER"
<!DOCTYPE html>

display: inline-block;
}

display: inline-block;
margin: 0.25em 0;
}
label{
display: inline-block;
width: 7em;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<form action="http://trackit/app-copy/curl_create.php" method="get">
<fieldset>
<input type="hidden" name="thisuser" value="TEST+USER">
<label for="summ">Summary:</label>
<input type="text" id="summ" name="summ"><br>
<label for="comment">Description:</label>
<input type="text" id="comment" name="comment"><br>
<input type="submit" value="Submit">
</fieldset>
</form>
</body>
</html>
You can use
<input type="hidden" name="thisuser" value="<?php echo $_POST['user']; ?>">
Note: It's highly recommended to filter and validate your data to pass it in your code. You may use <?php echo (int)$_POST['user']; ?> to be sure the value is always integer at least.
Note 2: Use POST method instead of GET for your forms.

I have 3 textboxes and i can't get it value with $_GET and $_POST options. I need something like this:
-I fill textboxes with text
-I click button
-I activate function when clicking button
-In this function I recieve text from textboxes
-I save it to file (saving to file works ;) )

That code can't works. You can't call PHP function using javascript onclick.
For your clarification this code would execute costam() function everytime page is loaded.
Try to change Button1 with:
<input type="submit" id="Button1" name="submit" value="Zatwierdź" style="position:absolute;left:194px;top:164px;width:96px;height:25px;z-index:7;">
Then change php code in:
<?php
if($_GET['submit']){
$imie= $_GET['x1'];
$Nazwisko=$_GET['x2'];
$Numer= $_GET['x3'];
//łączenie
$dane=$imie.", ".$Nazwisko.", ".$Numer;
//dodawanie nowej linii
$popr=$dane." k\n";
//otwieranie, zapisanie, zamknięcie
$plik=fopen("zap.txt", "a");
fputs($plik, $popr);
fclose($plik);
}
This should works, but is not a good approch. Also the page will refresh.
If you're familiar with jQuery:
jQuery.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: 'your_functions_address.php',
dataType: 'json',
data: {functionname: 'add', arguments: [1, 2]},
success: function (obj, textstatus) {
if( !('error' in obj) ) {
yourVariable = obj.result;
}
else {
console.log(obj.error);
}
}
});

I am learning PHP and in the process of making a search engine. The following code will not echo the users input, in the search field, on the results page.
The search page:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Search Engine</title>
<style type="text/css">
body {
background:#F0FFFF;
margin:-80px;
}
form {
margin:25%;
}
</style>
</head>
<body>
<form action="result.php" method="post">
<input type="text" name="user_query" size="80" placeholder="Enter Search Here" />
<input type="submit" name="search" value="Search Now" />
</body>
</html>
The results page:
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Results</title>
<style type="text/css">
.results {
margin:5%;
}
</style>
</head>
<body bgcolor="#F0FFFF">
<form action="result.php" method="get">
<span><b>Enter Query Here:</b></span>
<input type="text" name="user_keyword" size="80" />
<input type="submit" name="result" value="Search Now" />
</form>
<?php
if(isset($_GET['search'])) {
$get_value = $_GET['user_query'];
echo "<div class='results'>
$get_value;
</div>";
}
?>
</body>
</html>
Can someone tell me why the user's input is not being echoed when the search is run?
If you using method=post
In form tag you must receive you data as $_POST
Also method=get use $_GET
Edit this lines in result page to this
<?php
if(isset($_POST['search'])){
$get_value = $_POST['user_query'];
echo "<div class='results'>{$get_value}</div>";
}
?>
well the problem lies in your form tag you should have used method="get" if you want to get some data from database and if you are using method="post" you should have to use $_POST['search'] so your form tag shuld have to be like this
<form action="result.php" method="get">
and if you are going to use method="post" anyway than your $_GET['search'] should have to be $_POST['search']
but i will suggest you to use method="get" for searching query from database
I have a session variable that's an array and is supposed to store different usernames. Upon a user trying to log in, the username is checked against the array to see if the name exists within the array. If it's not found within the array the user is re-directed to a registration page, where the user can enter in a username and password.
This page, upon accepting the username and password, is supposed to update the session array, so that the next time the user tries logging in he/she is redirected to a different page.
I am able to register, but think that each time I go back to my main page the usernames array is refreshed to contain 0 entries.
Any way I can make my array more persistent?

You might consider rethinking the logic behind storing the list of users/usernames and their properties in the session.
With time, sessions will get bigger and bigger and you're going to have more problems down the line.
Instead, store that information in a database and consult it when needed.
Relative to your issue, the problem you're having with the session array being reset after the data is submitted is caused by this:
#line 41 $usernames = array(); <--- variable set to an empty array
...
if($_SERVER["REQUEST_METHOD"] === "POST") {
#line 50 $_SESSION["usernames"] = $usernames; <---- session variable affected with an empty array
$_SESSION["username"] = $_POST["username"];
...
Hope it helps. Good luck
I am trying to create a very simple Control Panel for a web programming project, the "Show" function in my control panel works very well and shows all the elements by my Delete, Add and Update functions do not work at all.
Here's what I want to do with each function:
Add function -> I want to add an element to my database from the input elements
Delete function -> I want to delete the element that its ID is input by the user in the Control Panel
Update -> Using this function I want to change the Product Title of the selected Product.
These 3 functions don't work, when I input data in the webpage I see that nothing is added/altered to/in the tables.
Here's the code:

firstly, good on you for trying to come up with a solution, however, as other commenters have said, you do have issues in your script. Firstly, I'd consider replacing $HTTP_POST_VARS["ID"]; with the $_POST global variable, and also running an if(isset()) to ensure all fields were set when the user submitted the form.
Secondly, you should consider using MySQLi or PDO for handling your database connection, as they can also provide validation and filtration to prevent injection attacks as Marc B mentioned. It's a good attempt if you are an absolute beginner and I feel if you stick at it you can progress further, and this community is great for getting answers and understanding where you have gone wrong. Hopefully this helps and good luck! :)
I am developing a phonegapp app. Have a simple login form in action.php file and for test purpose I am just printing the submit variable in other file see.php.
Issue is that if I include following line of code in action.php then submitted variables from form are not getting printed:
<script src="http://code.jquery.com/mobile/1.4.0/jquery.mobile-1.4.0.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
But If I remove the above line from action.php, form is getting submitted properly and input variables are getting printed in see.php

As you see in console ( network ) , see.php is being called and values of post are printed . You can turn your firebug ON and check the results ..
In jQuery Mobile, form submissions are automatically handled using Ajax whenever possible
To submit the form normally you can use data-ajax="false" in form
<form data-ajax="false" action="" method="">
