I'm fairly new in working with composer, but I'm experiencing issues. After some stackoverflow searches I tried some of te solutions, however, none of them did work for me. I Have the following error:
Fatal error: Class 'Freeby\Basic\Navigator' not found in index.php on line *.
So I took a look at my index. It contains the following code:
index.php
namespace Freeby;
use \Freeby\Basic\Navigator as Navigator;
Navigator::execute();
The line where the error occurs is the last one, Navigator::execute();. So I went to take a look at this class found in the folder Basic. Navigator.php
namespace Freeby\Basic;
class Navigator
{
public static function execute()
{
}
}
So, I have my namespace there. It should be recognized. However, it does not. So I went on to check my composer.json.

And I think this one is correct. However I'm not that sure. To be sure I'll include my structure here too. Maybe it's a path issue? If yes, why? I Couldn't find it.

I think you need to load the composer autoloader first in index.php

I just started using CakePHP 3. I'm trying to get up and running but doing the simplest of things is proving to be a headache.
I have a class, MySimpleClass, in src/App/MySimpleClass.php

I use bin/cake server to run the HTTP server
I added App::className('MyApp\MyNamespace\MySimpleClass'); to bootstrap.php to see if that'd make a difference but it doesn't.
I've run composer dump-autoload on several occasions.
I tried putting MySimpleClass into global namespace but it still gave me the error.
PHPStorm isn't giving me any syntax or naming errors.
You should place your controllers in:
src/Controller
and use:
namespace App\Controller;
Nevermind, I finally found the solution...
I just had to add src to the classmap in composer.json:

"src"

}
Edit:
Instead of abusing classmap, I just moved my class files to a directory outside of src
If your class is in the file src/App/MySimpleClass.php, the namespace has to be App\App. The first App refers to the root namespace of every CakePHP 3.x application, the second App refers to the subdirectory within the src directory you put your class file into.
If the namespace of the class should be App\MyNamespace, your classfile has to be located in src/MyNamespace.
Also: according to the error message you quoted, your MyFirstController is in a file called TestController.php. Instead, it should be MyFirstController.php. I recommend giving https://book.cakephp.org/3.0/en/intro/conventions.html#file-and-class-name-conventions a read regarding this topic.

Are you namespacing your classes right ? To be honest your psr-4 autoloading looks a bit messy, I am asuming you are autoloading everything even when you dont need those.
So if you please share a screenshot of your folder structure, I can try to recreate your issue and probably suggest a solution.
so i have the following structure for what i'm trying to target but what i'm getting is the Fatal error class MainController not found , i'm new to autoload and namespace thing (but getting into them fast) i just need to know why this is happening , hope you guys have bit explained situation for me? i did saw few of answer around stackoverflow but nuthing helped, i know i'm doing something really wrong, but thats how i will learn :). structure:

Okay, in your Composer file you say the namespace is controllers. In your PHP file you say the namespace is MainController. They need to be the same for the autoloading to work.
If we are to go by your Composer file then the PHP should look like this:
namespace controllers;
class MainController {}
And the class should be called like this:
$MainController = new \controllers\MainController;
Or like this:
use controllers\MainController;
$MainController = new MainController;
Or, if you want a nicer-looking class name:
use controllers\MainController as Controller;
$MainController = new Controller;
In my case I only managed to correct it after deleting my folder from the composer (vendor) and rerunning the command composer dump-autoload
I'm using the Laravel framework and have a directory of the following structure:
models
Statistic.php
presenters
StatisticPresenter.php
In my models/Statistic class, I'm trying to access a present method which calls a protected property which then references my presenter:

Yet, this returns the error: Class 'presenters\StatisticPresenter' not found. I realize this is a namespacing error of some sort, and I've tried watching a few videos on how it works, but I simply can't wrap my head around it. I have already added my presenter folder to my composer.json file. For example, adding this to the top of my Statistic model does not work:
use presenters\StatisticPresenter;
How can I fix this?

Mark your namespace in StatisticPresenter.php ? (at the top of file "namespace presenters;")
Add PSR-4 class map to your composer

run "composer dump-autoload" once and you wont need to run this command again for the "presenters" namespace if you add new classes into "app/presenters/ folder"
Test your class with "use presenters/StatisticPresenter;"
If you can access your class you dont need to change your code your present() function will be valid
I'm running PHPUnit using a bootstrap file for autoloading classes (generated by composer).
All my tests load up classes just fine, but for two of my tests, I made a "base" test class which extends \PHPUnit\Framework\TestCase (similar to PHPUnit_Framework_TestCase before PHPUnit7), and then two test classes that extend the base class, similar structure to the following example code:

Whenever I run this, PHPUnit gives an error:
Fatal error: Class 'BaseTest' not found in BlahBlahTest.php on line 13
I've checked filenames, locations, namespaces and everything seems to be in order. Any help would be appreciated to get to the bottom of this
I ran into the same problem and if you are not too familiar with the inner workings of both PHPUnit and Composer this can indeed seem perplexing.
PHPunit does not use use the Composer autoloader to find any of your test classes. It just scans any directory you give it and operates on one file at a time.
Hence it does not know about any other class than the one in the file it is currently operating on. That is where the bootstrap file comes into play.
If you want to use the Composer Autoloader to load other test classes, you need to tell it where it can find these test classes (and, optionally, in which namespace).
There are two ways to do this:
Add an autoload-dev section to your composer.json or
Add the test directory to the Composer Autoloader
Use autoload-dev
The autoload-dev sections allows you to define autoload rules for development purposes.
Quoting directly from the manual:
Classes needed to run the test suite should not be included in the
main autoload rules to avoid polluting the autoloader in production
and when other people use your package as a dependency.
Therefore, it is a good idea to rely on a dedicated path for your unit
tests and to add it within the autoload-dev section.
Example:

Add to the Composer Autoloader
An alternative would be to get the Composer Autoloader and add your testing namespace (if you have any) and the directory where your tests live. How to do this, as described in the manual (at the bottom of the autoloading section in "Basic Usage") is :
$loader = require('/path/to/vendor/autoload.php');
$loader->add('Test\\', __DIR__ . '/Tests');
If your tests use namespaces that mirror the test directory and you still run into trouble, you can try omitting the prefix by replacing the first parameter ('Test\\') with ''.
If you want further insight into how all of this works you should take a look at the Composer ClassLoader class, especially the add() and findFile() methods.
For me the solution was much simpler.
I changed the capital letter of Test to test at the end of the file and the class name

I just put a word at the end of my base class. As far as it
didn't finish with Test, phpunit didn't call it
BaseSomethingTestCase.php

I'm not sure if you still need a solution, but this worked for me:

In PHP 7.0+ extends PHPUnit_Framework_TestCasechanged to extends \PHPUnit\Framework\TestCase, try this one.
