Data not inserted but have no error PHP using bind_param - php

i have a simple code to input data to my database
using prepare and bind_param
there is no error but my data are not inputted into database
$stmt1 = $mysqli -> prepare ("INSERT INTO equipment(eqp_type, eqp_name, eqp_qty, eqp_usd, $eqp_idr) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?)");
$stmt1->bind_param('sssss',$eqp_type, $eqp_name, $eqp_qty, $eqp_usd, eqp_idr);
$eqp_type = 'BUC';
$eqp_name = 'BUC test';
$eqp_qty = '1';
$eqp_usd = '0';
$eqp_idr = '0';
$stmt1->execute();
is there any idea why there is no error but my data are not inputted into database ?

You might forget to execute it.
You can do it with following code:
$stmt1->execute();
So your code would look as follows:
$eqp_type = 'BUC';
$eqp_name = 'BUC test';
$eqp_qty = '1';
$eqp_usd = '0';
$eqp_idr = '0';
$stmt1 = $mysqli -> prepare ("INSERT INTO equipment(eqp_type, eqp_name, eqp_qty, eqp_usd, eqp_idr) VALUES (?,?,?,?,?)");
$stmt1->bind_param('sssss',$eqp_type, $eqp_name, $eqp_qty, $eqp_usd, $eqp_idr);
$stmt1->execute();
Manual
PHP: mysqli_stmt::bind_param

You have to execute your query using
$stmt1->execute();
Read here: http://php.net/manual/en/pdostatement.execute.php

You need to add $stmt1->execute() and you will get error as you also missed $ in eqp_idr

API doesn't allow text

I've just created a simple API for a CAD/MDT I'm working on, I've managed to get it to show the correct information when I do /citations/userid/1. This will then display all the correct values from the SQL database however, if I do /citations/issued_by/kevingorman1000 it will just throw an error. I can't tell what the error is as I'm using Slim php and can't seem to get the errors to display.
Any ideas why it isn't working ? I've added my code below..
$app->get('/citation/issuedby/{issued_by}', function(Request $request, Response $response){
$issued_by = $request->getAttribute('issued_by');
$sql = "SELECT * FROM ncic_citations WHERE issuedby = $issuedby";
try{
// Get DB Object
$db = new db();
// Call Connection to DB
$db = $db->connect();
$stmt = $db->query($sql);
$issby = $stmt->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_OBJ);
$db = null;
echo json_encode($issby);
} catch(PDOExecption $e) {
echo '{"error"} : {"text": '.$e->getMessage().'}';
}});
Any ideas why this is the case? Does it only allow getting via number or do I need too do something else? First time using this and kinda new to PHP as well.
Thanks for any help.
Your problem is called SQL injection. You can solve it by using prepared statements. Never escape the values with quotes or anything else, as others might have suggested.
$sql = "SELECT * FROM ncic_citations WHERE issuedby = ? ";
$stmt = $db->prepare($sql);
$stmt->execute([$issuedby]);
$issby = $stmt->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_OBJ);
For a good tutorial on PDO and prepared statements I recommend: https://phpdelusions.net/pdo
It's because SQL error (missing quotes around string).
You try to send query
$sql = "SELECT * FROM ncic_citations WHERE issuedby = kevingorman1000";
Correct query has to be
$sql = "SELECT * FROM ncic_citations WHERE issuedby = 'kevingorman1000'";

Update mysql, no affection

I'm trying to update a number of rows in MySql with a prepared PDO statement. It doesn't emit any error but the rows remains untouched. What am I doing wrong?
I replaced username, password and database name with xxx for the sake of security when posting on Stack Overflow.
<?php
header('Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *');
$jsonp = false;
error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set("display_errors", 1);
$db = new PDO('mysql:host=localhost;dbname=xxx;charset=utf8', 'xxx', 'xxx');
$party = ($_POST['party']);
$id = ($_POST['id']); /* String with ids. Ex. "1, 2, 3" */
$state = ($_POST['state']);
$code = ($_POST['fetchCode']);
$stmt = $db->prepare("UPDATE wishes SET state = :state WHERE fetchCode = :code AND partyID = :party AND id IN (:id)");
$stmt->bindParam(':party', $party);
$stmt->bindParam(':id', $id);
$stmt->bindParam(':state', $state);
$stmt->bindParam(':code', $code);
$stmt->execute();
echo json_encode("Done");
?>
In your $_POST['id'] there is space after comma. Please try to avoid spaces before and after comma.
Secondly you can add third parameter PARAM_STR to $stmt->bindParam(':id', $id,PARAM_STR); so that it could be treated as a string while preparing query.
Also add error handler to see the error like :
if (!$stmt) {
echo "\nPDO::errorInfo():\n";
print_r($db->errorInfo());
}
One last thing which can help in debugging is you can see what is your final query getting prepared by echo $stmt->queryString

PHP/MySQL PDO/Update Rows

I'm here trying to update my DB rows without deleting/creating new ones all the time. Currently, my DB creates new entries everytime I run this block of code. Instead of spamming my DB, I just want to change some of the values.
<?php
try {
$conn = new PDO("mysql:host=localhost;port=3306;dbname=dbname", Username, password);
$conn->setAttribute(PDO::ATTR_ERRMODE, PDO::ERRMODE_EXCEPTION);
}
catch(PDOException $e){
echo "Connection failed: " . $e->getMessage();
}
if(isset($_POST['mUsername']))
{
$mUsername = urldecode($_POST['mUsername']);
$mEvent = urldecode($_POST['mEvent']);
$mChat = urldecode($_POST['mChat']);
$mlongitude = urldecode($_POST['mlongitude']);
$mlatitude = urldecode($_POST['mlatitude']);
$sqlUPDATE = "UPDATE users
SET lastEvent=:lastEvent, lastChat=:lastChat,
lastLong=:lastLong, lastLatt=:lastLatt
WHERE name=:name";
$stmt = $conn->prepare($sqlUPDATE);
$stmt->bindParam(':lastEvent', $mEvent);
$stmt->bindParam(':lastChat', $mChat);
$stmt->bindParam(':lastLong', $mlongitude);
$stmt->bindParam(':lastLatt', $mlatitude);
$stmt->bindParam(':name', $mUsername);
$stmt->execute();
}
echo "successfully updated";
?>
My assumption is my final line, the $results area. I believe it's just treating this an a new entry instead of an update. How do I go about just replacing values? some values will not change, like the username, and sometimes longitude/latitude won't need to be changed. Would that have to be a separate query, should I split this in to two scripts? Or could I just enter a blank, null value? Or would that end up overwriting the ACTUAL last coordinates, leaving me with null values? Looking for any help or guides or tutorials. Thank you all in advance.
lots of syntax error in your code. It is simple to use bindParam
$sqlUPDATE = "UPDATE users
SET lastEvent=:lastEvent, lastChat=:lastChat,
lastLong=:lastLong, lastLatt=:lastLatt
WHERE name=:name";// you forget to close statement in your code
$stmt = $conn->prepare($sqlUPDATE);
$stmt->bindParam(':lastEvent', $mEvent);
$stmt->bindParam(':lastChat', $mChat);
$stmt->bindParam(':lastLong', $mlongitude);
$stmt->bindParam(':lastLatt', $mlatitude);
$stmt->bindParam(':name', $mUsername);
$stmt->execute();
read http://php.net/manual/en/pdostatement.bindparam.php
When using prepared statements, you should also make a habbit of following the set rules. Use named parameters. Try this:
if(isset($_POST['mUsername']))
{
$mUsername = urldecode($_POST['mUsername']);
$mEvent = urldecode($_POST['mEvent']);
$mChat = urldecode($_POST['mChat']);
$mlongitude = urldecode($_POST['mlongitude']);
$mlatitude = urldecode($_POST['mlatitude']);
$sqlUPDATE = "UPDATE users SET lastEvent= :lastEvent, lastChat= :lastChat, lastLong= :lastLong, lastLatt= :lastLatt WHERE name= :name";
$q = $conn->prepare($sqlUPDATE);
$results = $q->execute(array(':name'=>$mUsername, ':lastEvent'=>$mEvent, ':lastChat'=>$mChat, ':lastLong'=>$mlongitude, ':lastLatt'=>$mlatitude));
}

How to use mysqli bind_result

im trying to use mysqli with bind_result but all i get is null values. My $stmt
number of rows is greater than 0 so i do have some data in it.
I dont realy understand what value should come into bind_result
I have read at the manual http://php.net/manual/en/mysqli-stmt.bind-result.php
And they dont explain what should i put in the bind_result.
Should i put there the column names? if yes, as strings? how do i get my wanted values?
Here is my code thanks for helping:
$sql = "SELECT * FROM comments WHERE workout_name = ? AND user = ?";
$stmt = $mysqli->prepare($sql) or trigger_error($mysqli->error."[$sql]");
$stmt->bind_param('ss', $workout_name, $user);
$workout_name = "rytg";
$user = "tomer";
$stmt->execute();
$stmt->store_result();
$stmt->bind_result($comment, $commented_user);
if($stmt->num_rows > 0)
{
$response["workouts"] = array();
while ($stmt->fetch())
{
// temp user array
$workouts = array();
$workouts["comment"] = $comment;
$workouts["user"] = $commented_user;
// push single product into final response array
array_push($response["workouts"], $workouts);
}
}
Your only problem is insufficient error reporting
error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors',1);
Just add these lines at the top of your code and you will be immediately informed of the exact problem with your code.
Note that on the production server you have to turn displaying errors off and logging on
I don't have a working PHP installation next to me at the moment, so I can't verify it, but I believe you might have to bind both parameters and result before you execute the query, like so:
$workout_name = "rytg";
$user = "tomer";
$stmt = $mysqli->prepare($sql) or trigger_error($mysqli->error."[$sql]");
$stmt->bind_param('ss', $workout_name, $user);
$stmt->bind_result($comment, $commented_user);
$stmt->execute();
I'm not too sure about store_result() either. I don't recall having to use it while retrieving the results, so you might want to try running your code without it and see what happens.

Is it possible to fetch_object while using bind_param? (PHP/MySQLi)

I have a question for you guys. I'm trying to make the way that I run MySQL as secure as I can. I'm currently wondering if it's possible to fetch an object with MySQLi after I have prepared the statement, binded the parameters, and executed the statement.
Example:
$sql = $mysqli->prepare('SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = ?;');
$sql->bind_param('s', $username);
$username = 'RastaLulz';
$sql->execute();
$object = $sql->fetch_object();
echo $object->mail;
I get the following error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function fetch_object() on a non-object in C:\xampp\htdocs\ProCMS\DevBestCMS\inc\global\class.mysql.php on line 23
However, when I add "$sql->result_metadata();" I don't get an error, but it doesn't return a result (it's just NULL).
$sql = $mysqli->prepare('SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = ?;');
$sql->bind_param('s', $username);
$username = 'RastaLulz';
$sql->execute();
$result = $sql->result_metadata();
$object = $result->fetch_object();
echo $object->mail;
This is how you'd do it without binding the parameters:
$sql = $mysqli->query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE username = 'RastaLulz';");
$object = $sql->fetch_object();
echo $object->mail;
Here's my current MySQL class - just need to get the execute function working.

Any help is and will be appreciated!
I had the same question. I found out that I could do the following:
# prepare statement
$stmt = $conn->prepare($sql)
# bind params
$stmt->bind_param("s", $param);
# execute query
$stmt->execute();
# get result
$result = $stmt->get_result();
# fetch object
$object = $result->fetch_object();
I hope that works for you, too.
I just dug around in my Database class and this is how I do it. Honestly I don't remember why I needed to do it this way and there might be a much better way. But if it helps you here is the code. I do vaguely remember being irritated about there not being a simple way to get your results as an object.
// returns an array of objects
public function stmtFetchObject(){
$rows=array(); //init
// bind results to named array
$meta = $this->stmt->result_metadata();
$fields = $meta->fetch_fields();
foreach($fields as $field) {
$result[$field->name] = "";
$resultArray[$field->name] = &$result[$field->name];
}
call_user_func_array(array($this->stmt, 'bind_result'), $resultArray);
// create object of results and array of objects
while($this->stmt->fetch()) {
$resultObject = new stdClass();
foreach ($resultArray as $key => $value) {
$resultObject->$key = $value;
}
$rows[] = $resultObject;
}
return $rows;
}
What is the ';' at the end of your statement? You are giving mysqli an invalid query and so it is not creating an object for you.
The problem is not the fetch_object, but the prepare statement.
Remove the ';' and try again. It should work like a charm.
I've never seen a query end like that.
Try instantiating the variable before binding.
I think its just good practice but use double quotes instead of single quotes.
