I tried to write a php script to get cover image and use it as cover image for mp3 file using getid3 php but the cover image is not showing up in media players.
The cover image is showing in windows folders but not in media players icon badge... Also not showing up on google play music on android.
Belows the code.

I am working with a wordpress site that imports all data from API to the site automatically via cron job. However, I'm now on the part of saving the field data from the API. The problem is update_post_meta and update_fields are both not working.
I already tried interchanging between the two methods of saving but both doesn't work. No error prompts and no results as well (which is pretty weird for me). I checked the built-in plugin of the site and it uses update_post_meta.

What I'm already expecting is it should be already save some data, if not, it should produce an error but for some weird reason, there isn't. I tried to var_dump some variables and I think it should be working. Would anyone be able to help me find out where I gone wrong?
In order to replace the Wordpress cron with a real cron job you will need to set a cron job which will fetch data from a webpage using wget. First you will need to create a Wordpress page which will contain your PHP code then fetch the content with cron using wget.
The real cron job command will look like this:
wget -q -O - http://yourdomain.com/your_cron_page >/dev/null 2>&1
-q tells wget to operate quietly (ie. to not output the usual status information)
-O /dev/null tells it to output to /dev/null
Keep in mind that everyone can access this page so you might want to set some restrictions.
I have been making a plugin which allows admins to upload image, i can see the image(so can other people which is expected), delete and re-upload, but the problem is when another admin try to edit the plugin, they cant see the draft image, they only see the image they upload and i see the image i upload as draft. What i want is if i upload an image everyone that tries to edit, they should see the image i have upload as draft.
I will add my code below, if someone can help i will really appreciate it.

}
I have edited the edit_form.php and now it looks like this:
global $CFG, $mform;
$i = 0;
$draftitemid = file_get_submitted_draft_itemid('config_profile_image');
file_prepare_draft_area($draftitemid, $this->block->context->id, 'block_cls_user_profile', 'cls_img', $i,
array('subdirs' => 0, 'maxbytes' => $CFG->maxbytes, 'maxfiles' => 1));
$entry->config_profile_image = $draftitemid;
$mform->set_data($entry);
file_save_draft_area_files($draftitemid, $this->block->context->id, 'block_cls_user_profile', 'cls_img', $i,array('subdirs' => false, 'maxfiles' => 1));
parent::set_data($defaults);}}
But the error i get now is 'Call to a member function set_data() on null'.
Thank you.
How do I generate a (text only) file in Drupal 7, and attach it to a particular node automatically.
Is there a way to do this with a module, or should I use code to do it in some way (this seems tricky).
First create a file using the drupal file_save_data
$data = 'Your text data'; // Text data to be saved to file.
$filename = 'filename.txt'; // Filename
$file = file_save_data($data,'public://' .$filename);
Now $file will contain the file object that we can attach to the node. Let say you have already created and attached a file field to node type. Lets call it 'field_custom_file'
Then load the node you want to attach then cast the file object to array and attach it to the field.
$node = node_load($nid); // $nid is the id of the node where you want to attach the file.
$node->field_custom_file[LANGUAGE_NONE][] = (array)$file;
node_save($node);
$file = (object) array(
'uid' => 1,
'uri' => $filepath,
'filemime' => file_get_mimetype($filepath),
'status' => 1,
'display' => 1,
);
$file = file_copy($file, 'public://');
$node->field_file['und'][0] = $file;
I am trying to write APIC picture to mp3 file with getid3. here is the code;
$cover = "/home/user/public_html/artwork/cover.jpg";
$TagData['attached_picture'][]=array(
'picturetypeid'=>2, // Cover. More: module.tag.id3v2.php -> function APICPictureTypeLookup
'description'=>'cover', // text field
'mime'=>'image/jpeg', // Mime type image
'data'=>$cover // Image data
);
but it doesnt work. image size is around 1.5 MB. should i resize it or sth ?
where am i wrong ?
Thanks
Looking at the demo they have on their website: http://www.getid3.org/source/demo.write.phps
snippet of code:
$fd = fopen($_FILES['userfile']['tmp_name'], 'rb')
$APICdata = fread($fd, filesize($_FILES['userfile']['tmp_name']));
fclose ($fd);
$imagetypes = array(1=>'gif', 2=>'jpeg', 3=>'png');
if (isset($imagetypes[$APIC_imageTypeID])) {
$TagData['attached_picture'][0]['data'] = $APICdata;
$TagData['attached_picture'][0]['picturetypeid'] = $_POST['APICpictureType'];
$TagData['attached_picture'][0]['description'] = $_FILES['userfile']['name'];
$TagData['attached_picture'][0]['mime'] = 'image/'.$imagetypes[$APIC_imageTypeID];
}
Seems like the data key needs to be the image content, not just the path to the image file.
So in your case, it should be something like:
$cover = "/home/user/public_html/artwork/cover.jpg";
$fd = fopen($cover, 'rb')
$APICdata = fread($fd, filesize($coverFile));
fclose ($fd);
$TagData['attached_picture'][]=array(
'picturetypeid'=>2, // Cover. More: module.tag.id3v2.php -> function APICPictureTypeLookup
'description'=>'cover', // text field
'mime'=>'image/jpeg', // Mime type image
'data'=>$APICdata // Image data
);
Note: This is just after a quick glance at the demo code, I have not used this library or tested this code.
GetID3 needs the content of the file to be send for the data, not the file path. Then only it will be able to embed them into the file. Try
$cover = "/home/user/public_html/artwork/cover.jpg";
$TagData['attached_picture'][]=array(
'picturetypeid'=>2, // Cover. More: module.tag.id3v2.php -> function APICPictureTypeLookup
'description'=>'cover', // text field
'mime'=>'image/jpeg', // Mime type image
'data'=> file_get_contents($cover) // Image data; not the file name
);
tested and working :)
I found this in the source code:
case 'APIC':
// 4.14 APIC Attached picture
// Text encoding $xx
// MIME type <text string> $00
// Picture type $xx
// Description <text string according to encoding> $00 (00)
// Picture data <binary data>
So picture data must be binary.
The solution is here: getid3 demo
This one is working for me for long time:
$TagData = array(); //your other tags
$fd = fopen($albumPath, 'rb');
$APICdata = fread($fd, filesize($albumPath));
fclose($fd);
if($APICdata) {
$TagData += array(
'attached_picture' => array(0 => array(
'data' => $APICdata,
'picturetypeid' => '0x03',
'description' => 'cover',
'mime' => image_type_to_mime_type($albumExifType)
))
);
}
//and write the tags to file

For anyone who just needd to update their ID3 tags including the Album Art , above code works just fine You need to have getID3 library to work .
This Answer is based on JacopKane's Answer so credit goes to him
I am looking for the best or any way to set the Album Art of mp3s using PHP.
Suggestions?
Album art is a data frame identified as “Attached picture” due ID3v2 specification, and
getID3() now is only one way to write all possible data frames in ID3v2 with pure PHP.
Look at this source:
http://getid3.sourceforge.net/source/write.id3v2.phps
Search for this text in the source:
// 4.14 APIC Attached picture
there's a piece of code responsible for writing album art.
Another way, that seems to be not as slow as pure PHP, is to use some external application, that will be launched by PHP script. If your service designed to work under a high load, binary compiled tool will be a better solution.
A better (faster) way to do this would be through an external application and the PHP exec() function to fun a command. I would recommend eyeD3.
Not sure this is still an issue but:
the amazingly complete getid3() (http://getid3.org) project will solve all your problems. Check out this forum post for more info.
Rather than just share the code for album art update, I an going to post my entire MP3 wrapper class of getID3 here so you can use as you wish
Usage
$mp3 = new Whisppa\Music\MP3($mp3_filepath);
//Get data
$mp3->title
$mp3->artist
$mp3->album
$mp3->genre
//set properties
$mp3->year = '2014';
//change album art
$mp3->set_art(file_get_contents($pathtoimage), 'image/jpeg', 'New Caption');//sets front album art
//save new details
$mp3->save();

}
You can look into the getID3() project. I can't promise that it can handle images but it does claim to be able to write ID3 tags for MP3s so I think it will be your best bet.
Here is the basic code for adding an image and ID3 data using getID3. (#frostymarvelous' wrapper includes equivalent code, however I think that it is helpful to show the basics.)
<?php
// Initialize getID3 engine
$getID3 = new getID3;
// Initialize getID3 tag-writing module
$tagwriter = new getid3_writetags;
$tagwriter->filename = 'audiofile.mp3';
$tagwriter->tagformats = array('id3v2.3');
$tagwriter->overwrite_tags = true;
$tagwriter->remove_other_tags = true;
$tagwriter->tag_encoding = $TextEncoding;
$pictureFile=file_get_contents("image.jpg");
$TagData = array(
'title' => 'My Title',
'artist' => 'My Artist',
'attached_picture' => array(
array (
'data'=> $pictureFile,
'picturetypeid'=> 3,
'mime'=> 'image/jpeg',
'description' => 'My Picture'
)
)
);
?>
#carrp the $Tagdata code won't work unless each value property is an array e.g.
$TagData = array(
'title' => ['My Title'],
'artist' => ['My Artist'],
'attached_picture' => array(
array (
'data'=> $pictureFile,
'picturetypeid'=> 3,
'mime'=> 'image/jpeg',
'description' => 'My Picture'
)
)
);
Use this inbuilt function of PHP,
<?php
$tag = id3_get_tag( "path/to/example.mp3" );
print_r($tag);
?>
I don't think it's really possible with PHP. I mean, I suppose anything is possible but it may not be a native PHP solution. From the PHP Docs, I think the only items that can be updated are:
Title
Artists
Album
Year
Genre
Comment
Track
Sorry man. Maybe Perl, Python, or Ruby might have some solution.
I'm not sure if you are familiar with Perl (I personally don't like it, but, it's good at things like this...). Here's a script that seems to be able to pull in and edit album art in an MP3: http://www.plunder.com/-download-66279.htm
