}
else {
echo $this->escape($displayData->title); } ?></a><?php else : ?>
<?php endif; ?>
</h3>
but not work.
thanks for your attention guys.

Joomla has a built-in JHtmlString/truncate method which you can use, I've had good success using it with some of our templates and overrides.
This method would let you simplify your code and you could replace you entire last php block with something like the following
<?php
$limit =100;
echo JHTML::_('string.truncate', ($this->item->text), $limit, false, false);
?>
More about JHtmlString/truncate: https://docs.joomla.org/API16:JHtmlString/truncate
Some example code which might be helpful:

Good luck!

How to simplify this PHP conditional statement?

I am trying to understand a simple / better way of coding something like this php conditional statement.
<?php if (count($foo_bar) > 1) : ?>
<div class="myDiv1">
Hello!
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
<?php if (count($foo_bar) == 1) : ?>
<div class="myDiv2">
Goodbye!
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
Looking for example, and explanation as to why it may be better. Thanks!
Quite simply in this specific situation you dont need the second if as it can be accomplished with a simple if else
<?php if (count($foo_bar) > 1) : ?>
<div class="myDiv1">
Hello!
</div>
<?php else: ?>
<div class="myDiv2">
Goodbye!
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
<?php
$class = 'myDiv2';
$msg = 'GoodBye!';
if (count($foo_bar) > 1) {
$class = 'myDiv1';
$msg = 'Hello!';
}
?>
<div class="<?php echo $class; ?>">
<?php echo $msg; ?>
</div>
Try using an elseif like below. A bit more compact than the 2 statements.
<?php if (count($foo_bar) == 1) : ?>
<div class="myDiv2">
Goodbye!
</div>
<?php elseif(count($foo_bar) > 1): ?>
<div class="myDiv1">
Hello!
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
First, you should the count function only once.
Second, reduce the duplicated HTML blocks.
<?php
$countFooBar = count($foo_bar);
if ($countFooBar == 1){
$message = 'Goodbye! !';
$cssClass = 'class1';
}elseif( $countFooBar > 1){
$message = 'Hello!'
$cssClass = 'class2';
}
?>
<div class="<?php echo $cssClass ?>">
<?php echo $message; ?>
</div>

How to modify the layout in Joomla articles?

On a Joomla 3.4 site, articles display a "details" section like this by default :
Details
Written by John Doe
Published: 26 October 2015
What file to change, (and if possible how) to get the following result ?
By John Doe, on November 4, 2015
Edit after #itoctopus answer :
you will need to change the override file. You can do that by changing the
file /templates/your-template/html/com_content/article/default.php
Below is the content of the default.php.
What should be changed to achieve the result above ? I see nothing in this file related to the "details" section.

You can do the above by CSS - but sometimes it's a bit tricky, so you will need to change the override file. You can do that by changing the file /templates/your-template/html/com_content/article/default.php
If you can't find that file (or that directory structure), then you will need to copy the this file components/com_content/views/article/tmpl/default.php to /templates/your-template/html/com_content/article/default.php (if there is a directory that doesn't exist then you will need to create it. for example, if you can only find the /templates/your-template/html under your templates folder the you will need to create the com_content folder under the html folder and then the article folder under the com_content folder).
You can then modify the default.php file to change the layout. Make sure you clear your Joomla cache to see your changes.
Using CSS and Language overrides worked out.
CSS : display:none to get rid of unwanted stuff and display:inline-block to put everything in a single line.
Changing Words in Joomla 3.4 backend :
from the control panel, click on Languages in the sidebar menu
Click 'overrides'
Choose the language in 'filter'
Click 'new'
in the form field next to 'search' button, type in the text you want to change
select the right string variable
Type in the wanted text
Save
done.

How to add "tags" in joomla 3.x blog layout

I would like to add the article tags in my blog layout in joomla 3.x.
I overwrote the joomla layout files and tried to add the code below in blog_style_default_item_title.php as it is in article
<?php if ($params->get('show_tags', 1) && !empty($this->item->tags)) : ?>
<?php $this->item->tagLayout = new JLayoutFile('joomla.content.tags'); ?>
<?php echo $this->item->tagLayout->render($this->item->tags->itemTags); ?>
<?php endif; ?>
but it did not work. I guess variable name is not the good one. Any ideas?
My knowledges in php language are pretty weak but I had a look and tried a few think.
I finaly got something by adding code below in /com_content/category/blog_items.php
<?php $this->item->tagLayout = new JLayoutFile('joomla.content.tags'); ?>
<?php echo $this->item->tagLayout->render($this->item->tags->itemTags); ?>
but i would like to add "tags" on the title line so in blog_style_default_item_title.phpfile
<?php
defined('_JEXEC') or die;
// Create a shortcut for params.
$params = $displayData->params;
$canEdit = $displayData->params->get('access-edit');
JHtml::addIncludePath(JPATH_COMPONENT.'/helpers/html');
JHtml::_('behavior.framework');
?>
<?php if ($params->get('show_title') || $displayData->state == 0 || ($params->get('show_author') && !empty($displayData->author ))) : ?>
<div class="page-header">
<?php if ($params->get('show_title')) : ?>
<h2>essai
<?php if ($params->get('link_titles') && $params->get('access-view')) : ?>
<a href="<?php echo JRoute::_(ContentHelperRoute::getArticleRoute($displayData->slug, $displayData->catid)); ?>">
<?php echo $this->escape($displayData->title); ?></a>
<?php else : ?>
<?php echo $this->escape($displayData->title); ?>
<?php endif; ?>
</h2>
<?php endif; ?>
<?php $this->item->tagLayout = new JLayoutFile('joomla.content.tags'); ?>
<?php echo $this->item->tagLayout->render($this->item->tags->itemTags); ?>
<?php if ($displayData->state == 0) : ?>
<span class="label label-warning"><?php echo JText::_('JUNPUBLISHED'); ?></span>
<?php endif; ?>
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
But i have a error???
Here is how they are added to individual weblinks
<?php $tagsData = $item->tags->getItemTags('com_weblinks.weblink', $item->id); ?>
<?php if ($this->params->get('show_tags', 1)) : ?>
<?php $this->item->tagLayout = new JLayoutFile('joomla.content.tags'); ?>
<?php echo $this->item->tagLayout->render($tagsData); ?>
<?php endif; ?>
What you would want to do is something similar but for com_content.article and make sure the $item and $this->params references match what you have.
Here a picture of the design I would like
And he below the way the page id made of (as i understood it)
in blog_item.php there is this line which call the
...
<?php echo JLayoutHelper::render('joomla.content.blog_style_default_item_title', $this->item); ?>
....
and so in blog_style_default_item_title.php
....
<div class="page-header">
<?php if ($params->get('show_title')) : ?>
<h2>essai
<?php if ($params->get('link_titles') && $params->get('access-view')) : ?>
<a href="<?php echo JRoute::_(ContentHelperRoute::getArticleRoute($displayData->slug, $displayData->catid)); ?>">
<?php echo $this->escape($displayData->title); ?></a>
<?php else : ?>
Did I make a mistake??

How to Separate PHP Generated List Item - Magento

I have some php generated magento top-links with a screenshot below:
My goal is to separate the "Log In" link and have it floated to the left of the same row.
I am hoping for an efficient way to select the last generated list item element and apply some CSS to it.
The code is below:
<ul class="links pull-right"<?php if($this->getName()): ?> id="<?php echo $this->getName() ?>"<?php endif;?>>
<?php foreach($_links as $_link): ?>
<?php if ($_link instanceof Mage_Core_Block_Abstract):?>
<?php echo $_link->toHtml() ?>
<?php else: ?>
<li<?php if($_link->getIsFirst()||$_link->getIsLast()): ?> class="<?php if($_link->getIsFirst()): ?>first<?php endif; ?><?php if($_link->getIsLast()): ?> last<?php endif; ?>"<?php endif; ?> <?php echo $_link->getLiParams() ?>><?php echo $_link->getBeforeText() ?><a href="<?php echo $_link->getUrl() ?>" title="<?php echo $_link->getTitle() ?>" <?php echo $_link->getAParams() ?>><?php echo $_link->getLabel() ?></a><?php echo $_link->getAfterText() ?></li>
<?php endif;?>
<?php if (! $_link->getIsLast()):?>|<?php endif;?>
<?php endforeach; ?>
</ul>
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
CSS offers a way to style the last-child of a collection, no tinkering with PHP required.
http://tinker.io/926d2
ul.links.pull-right :last-child {
margin-left: 2em;
}
I answered a similar question not long ago. This adds the class "last-item" to the last item processed.
<?php list($parent) = split('/', $this->url); ?>
<?php $last_articles = $this->find('/news')->children(array('limit'=>5, 'order'=>'page.created_on DESC')); ?>
<ul id="latest-news">
<?php $count = count($last_articles); $num = 0; ?>
<?php foreach ($last_articles as $article): ?>
<li <?php if($num == $count-1){ ?> class="last-item" <?php } ?>>
<?php echo '<h3>'.$article->link($article->title()).'</h3>'; ?>
<?php echo strip_tags(substr($article->content(),0,100)).'...'; ?>
</li>
<?php $num++ ?>
<?php endforeach; ?>
</ul>
Evening All,
Id try and limit the amount of business logic you are adding to your templates. As what you are looking to achieve is custom to this instance of magento I would create a very basic module. I would then look to either implement a new block or just a helper function that will return the data you want.
If your working on the block function ensure your class extends the Magento navigation class. ( Sorry I have not checked what this is ) Then create the action: E.g.
public function getNavigation()
{
$links = $this->getLinks();
$linkArray = array();
$linkCount = count($links);
$i;
foreach($links as $link) {
if($i == $linkCount) {
$last = true;
} else {
$last = false;
}
$linkArray[] = 'link' => $link->getLink()->toHtml(),
'isLast' => $last
$i++;
}
return $linkArray();
}
Your block would then have minimal logic applied. Mainly just iterating through the result set.
Hope that makes sense, If not let me know and I will get you what you require.

Magento - check if cms page

i want to check via php if a page is a cms_page in Magento. I need diffrent breadcrumbs for cms pages, so im trying to this with a condition, but i have no idea how to or where to look at.
Heres my breadcrumbs.phtml so far.
<?php if(this is a cms page): ?>
<p>some content</p>
<?php else: ?>
<?php if($crumbs && is_array($crumbs)): ?>
<div class="breadcrumbs">
<ul>
<?php $charsges = 0; ?>
<?php foreach($crumbs as $_crumbName=>$_crumbInfo): ?>
<?php
$charsges = strlen($_crumbInfo['label']) + $charsges;
if($charsges > 40){
$chars = 18;
if(strlen($_crumbInfo['label']) > $chars){
$_crumbInfo['label'] = substr($_crumbInfo['label'], 0, $chars);
$_crumbInfo['label'] = $_crumbInfo['label'].'..';
}
}
?>
<li class="<?php echo $_crumbName ?>">
<?php if($_crumbInfo['link']): ?>
<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_crumbInfo['label']) ?>
<?php elseif($_crumbInfo['last']): ?>
<strong><?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_crumbInfo['label']) ?></strong>
<?php else: ?>
<?php echo $this->htmlEscape($_crumbInfo['label']) ?>
<?php endif; ?>
<?php if(!$_crumbInfo['last']): ?>
<span> > </span>
<?php endif; ?>
</li>
<?php endforeach; ?>
</ul>
</div>
<?php endif; ?>
greets rito
The following should give you what you want
//from a block or phtml script
$this->getRequest()->getModuleName()
When this returns the string 'cms', you're on a CMS page.
When Magento's frontend and admin routers can't find a match on your URL, the CMS router takes over. If the CMS router finds a match (based on the CMS pages you've setup), it hands off the request to the cms module and Mage_Cms_IndexController controller.
