I need something specific and i have no idea how to approach it.
I need to run a script/class/function continuously with start/stop button in my browser and update my views accordingly.
The script calls an API every minute and updates the variable in the class.
I made a basic Controller with a displayPage() method that returns the view with $data.
Inside the controller , i called the class that is supposed to run continuously . It has global variables. I was thinking of adding a while(true) loop function which does not return anything but instead updates the variable.
Controller :
$c = new Folder\TestClass();
$c->start();
$x = $c->variable1value;
return view('testpage',$x);
I'm not sure if the above will work or if there is a better way to do it . Any advise would be much appreciated.

How do i update my view ?
I was thinking of making an update() function in the controller and call it using javascript every minute . I don;t want to reload the whole page however , just the view i.e : $x value , reinitialize graphs etc...

I have a bit of a complicated issue. I could use some help.
I have a form that is being handled by the following function:

I take the values $module, $class, $horaire, $date and $students and need to use them inside a different view: g_absence.absence. This works fine and when the view is returned I have access to said variables.
The issue is, inside the g_absence.absence view, I have another form that also needs to be handled, and because the url remains the same even tho a different view is returned, I cant make two posts for the same path.
web.php:

The first line is the one that send to the form page just a simple
return view
The second one handle the form in that view
The third one, I want it to handle the form inside the
g_absence.absence view, but they share the same path.

your problem is using the same route for different methods
basically the first route gets executed every time you use the '/testboy' action that is why your second function never get's called.
you can solve this issue by changing your urls for example:
Route::post('/testboy-marquer',[App\Http\Controllers\g_absence::class, 'marquer']);
Route::post('/testboy-ajoutabsence',[App\Http\Controllers\g_absence::class, 'ajoutabsence']);
Or you can use one function that's handle both with one url by pathing additional parameter to your url depending on your function call :
Route::post('/testboy?type=marquer',[App\Http\Controllers\g_absence::class, 'ajoutabsence']);
in your function check the type :
if(request('type') == 'marquer') {
execute marquer logic here...
} else {
execute absence logic here...
}
Using method and path with two functionalities is wrong, but if you want to somehow use both routes my same method and path which I don't recommend you must let the request to pass through like a middleware in your first block of code Instead of return a view.
Recommended way is to have 2 routes with different paths or at least one route with a parameter by which you can determine what code block must be executed.
I'm currently creating an app with Codeigniter and i came up with this issue (and it's not the first time to be honest).
What i want is to set a value in a global variable in function "foo()" and the access it through function "bar" (which is called through ajax call from client side).
In short, i want this variable to be full when the user has visited the page (sth like a session).
Here's an example code of my controller and what i'm trying to achieve:

If i understand it right you will have 2 calls. One will be at page load where you want to store something and after that there will be an ajax call that will retrieve what you have stored. Because the 2 script loads are different you can only do it by storing the data to one of them: database/session/cookie/html session or localstorage.
Can't say anything about best practice because i dont know what you want to store and for how long so need a bit more info about your code (im guessing you want to store the "page_id"?).
I have an ongoing problem in Laravel. I am building "load more" system for comments with Laravel and Ajax, and using Session variable for counting and skipping already loaded rows. But for some reason my session variable wont persist, for unknown reason (trying whole the day to resolve this).. Ok here is some code:

So as you can see i am trying to increment variable each call. But the variable stays the same all the time.. When I make another variable for example Session::set('another', Session::get('loaded') + 12 ) ;
it actually get summed and i have sum in this variable.. but why it cannot update itself?
Fixed the problem in frontend with Jquery global counter which I am sending as an GET argument on every request, instead of using Session variables. Still don't know what's the problem with session, maybe some bug in my Laravel installation.

I have a CI page that will load to a div in view file, using jQuery. Using switch(page_parameter), I control what is showing from the page.
When I call the page for 3rd time, I set a value to the class array.
But when I call the 4th time, the array become empty.
I was wondering, is it actually possible to use the class property to store value that can be used after page re-access? Or something missing in my head?
I know that using session is not a good idea, since the real array is a big chunk of serialized xml.
Here's my code:

I saw a script that has similar scenario. it successfully reused the variable set in the constructor, instead of treating it as a class variable. i'll look thorough to confirm this, but for now, i'll close this thread. Thanks Chris for sharing.
Im not really sure what your trying to do but I have users jQuery post()/get()/ajax() many of times in CI and have had no problems. So despite not knowing or understanding what your trying to do. I thought I'd at least say I know loading data without refresh in CI through something like jQuery isn't an issue. Example on system I built on CI had a twitter like feed of tweets where jQuery on a timer was polling for new data and coming back with it each time accordingly if something new was to be shown.
For a project I used some logic in my view, this is not the way to go so I want to get it out.
The problem is that it can't be done from a class method of my model because Zend will make 10000 of queries from 10000 of instances to the database and it becomes very slow.
So I have to do it on a way that it loads all data at once, then processes it and returns the data back to the view. In my view it works the way I do it, the only problem is that it is IN the viewfiles.
What is the way to go? Just make a class in the model that inputs the values and returns required data?

Here is the way i would go to display data from a MVC perspective
Controller

You have to do your logic processing in a model (in the example above its done in the static class DataProcessor throught the process method (Not neccessarly the way to go, but it could be a good start)

echo $this->partialLoop('partialLoop.phtml', $this->data); // using the partial loop view helper built in in ZF
Finally, you should try to make your models as flexible as possible to make them reusable which is the key in oop development.
