I have Centos 7 and php 7.1. I want to install pecl and I tried that with yum install pecl but it has a conflict with php5.4.
How can I install mongodb driver without pecl or how can I fix pecl to work with php7.1?
I used pecl to install the mongo driver.
yum install php-pear
pecl install mongodb
note that there's also an old mongo driver that works for php5 but mongodb driver is for php7
You can Install mongodb manually with following commands:
First install php71w-devel package with following command:
sudo yum install php71w-devel -y
and then you can install it manually.
$ git clone https://github.com/mongodb/mongo-php-driver.git
$ cd mongo-php-driver
$ git submodule sync && git submodule update --init
$ phpize
$ ./configure
$ make all -j 5
$ sudo make install

This is the extension that I am trying to install: https://github.com/EVODelavega/phpkafka
The messages passed to the queue should be in JSON format.
Currently, I am getting installation errors:
1. The instructions ask me to install librdkafka.
2. The installation link for the above step is this. I am unable to install using the 1st and 4th method. This is the error:
checking for librdkafka/rdkafka.h" in default path... not found
configure: error: Please reinstall the rdkafka distribution
Quick Install Steps:
Step 1 Install PHP pecl and pear commands:
sudo apt install php-pear
Step 2 Install librdkafka
sudo apt-get install -y librdkafka-dev
Step 3 Install PECL-package
sudo pecl install rdkafka
Step4 Enable PHP-extension in PHP config. Add to php.ini
sudo nano /etc/php/7.4/cli/php.ini
extension=rdkafka.so
Step 4 Restart apache server
sudo service apache2 restart
because you need another package librdkafka,you should install librdkafka first
$ git clone https://github.com/edenhill/librdkafka.git
$ cd librdkafka
$ ./configure
$ make && make install
this way can resolve your problem
For Linux Debian Stretch (9.13) actual flow is:
Install PHP pecl and pear commands:
sudo apt install php-pear
FYI: Depends on your installed PHP version you may need to use concrete version package. For example: php7.2-pear.
Add backports repository. Current ext-rdkafka depends on librdkafka version 0.11.0 or greater. So follow official instructions, but use stretch-backports.
Install librdkafka-dev package from backports:
sudo apt -t stretch-backports install librdkafka-dev
Update apt:
sudo apt update
Install PECL-package:
sudo pecl install rdkafka
Enable PHP-extension in PHP config. Add to php.ini:
extension=rdkafka.so
FYI: You need to restart php-fpm service to apply new config params.
Hi I am trying to install homebrew php56 on ubuntu 14.04
I installed php 5.6 and apache2 and other dependencies of installation like perl, curl , etc.
But still I am getting this error.
That's rather a freaky way — install something on Ubuntu Linux through homebrew — it's actually should not work.
You'd better use apt package manager. You can install php-5.6 binaries from PPA:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install python-software-properties
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ondrej/php5-5.6
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install php5
PHP and Mongo are working correctly however the php5-mongo extension needs updating.
Currently it is version 1.4.5, version 1.5.x is required to be compatible with the latest https://github.com/doctrine/mongodb/
Running does not update the version.
sudo apt-get install php5-mongo
Additional info
mongod --version db version v2.6.12
php --version PHP 5.5.9-1ubuntu4.14
How can the extension be updated? Is pecl required to perform the update?
Try with PECL
sudo pecl install mongodb
Sometime you may get SSL error when connecting to the mongodb so please install dependencies before the pecl installation
sudo pecl channel-update pecl.php.net
sudo pecl uninstall mongodb
sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev pkg-config libssl-dev
sudo pecl install mongodb
You should add "extension=mongodb.so" to php.ini
Verify the MongoDB extension and module by using
sudo php --ri mongodb | grep version
sudo apt-cache policy php-mongodb
I have installed PHP7.0 on Ubuntu, but when I run php-config, it requires me to install it, which I want to install a php-config7 instead of a php-config5.
I was also stuck there but this command helped me.
I am using ubuntu 14.04
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ondrej/php
it will install required repo for the php7
now install php-dev libs
sudo apt-get install php7.0-dev
now it will replace your old php-config to new one
now php-config will point to php-config7.0
I'm using Ubuntu Xampp (Lampp) and currently on MongoDB 1.5.3 driver.
I need to downgrade to 1.4.5, but when re-installed the downgraded driver, it does not change in phpinfo(). Yes, I have restarted Apache.
So, how do I uninstall the current one and install the downgraded version?
Update: 2018-06-20:
PECL package mongo is now deprecated, you should use mongodb package instead:
sudo pecl install -f mongodb-1.4.4
Original answer
You can upgrade to a specific version of a driver by using pecl:
sudo pecl install -f mongo-1.4.5
If you get a pecl: command not found error you will need to install PEAR package:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install php-pear
You can use this command to check that you have the correct version installed:
sudo pecl info mongo
Or you can check php configuration directly with:
php -i | grep -A 1 MongoDB
