Dears,
I want to add / at the end of each url of site, below is what i found online, it works good, but in wp-admin it gives me wp-admin/index.php/index.php/. Like everytime i click on dashboard it will add /index.php/
code from htaccess
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.*)/$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://%{HTTP_HOST}/$1/ [L,R=301]
</IfModule>
Please advise.
Thanks
Keep redirect rule before your default WP rule:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/$
RewriteRule ^ http://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}/ [L,R=301,NE]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
Make sure to use a new browser for your testing.

I have a problem with the .htaccess file. I have it configured in this way.
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ index.php?controller=$1 [L]
Every time I access http://localhost/mvc3/contacto/ I'm accessing http://localhost/mvc3/index.php?controller=contacto, up there it is correct but if the friendly URL I remove the final character / (http://localhost/mvc3/contacto) it returns me to the root page (wampserver server).
Here is explained in video of the problem, what would be happening?
Video ▶️ http://recordit.co/FfXHww1xCv
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?controller=$1 [L]
Remove slash from the rewrite rule and it should work.
may below changes in .htaccess will be helpful for you
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f
RewriteRule ^ ^$1 [N]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} (\.\w+$) [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?controller=$1
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
</IfModule>
I want to redirect to the main domain if a directory(any) exists
but does not have an index file(index.php/index.html), How to do that? I tried the below code but does not work.
Options +FollowSymlinks -Indexes
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^ %1 [R=301,L]
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/$1/index.php !-f [OR]
RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/$1/index.html !-f
RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ / [L,R]
This will redirect a directory request to / if the /index file doesn't exist in that folder.
My .htaccess file:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^pharmacy/?(.*)$ /wp-content/plugins/swift-mailer/lib/classes/$1 [L]
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
After reading this answer I tried adding RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ / [L,R=301] after RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d which redirects html files to root folder but other URL stops working.
PS: I am not used to with .htaccess files.
You should put new RewriteRule before RewriteConds because it does not need any condition for redirect.
Moreover, you save working old redirect rules. RewriteCond affects only 1st RewriteRule after it. Placing new RewriteRule after RewriteConds make old RewriteRule be acheived in all cases without any restriction.
So, the fragment of your htaccess should look like
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ / [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
Put the root redirect code above the WordPress code like this:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^pharmacy/?(.*)$ /wp-content/plugins/swift-mailer/lib/classes/$1 [L]
# This will check that the .html is not a true file
# and if so, redirect to root
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ / [L,R=302]
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
Note, use R=302 (temporary redirect) until you are satisfied with your redirects. Otherwise, you might have 'permanent' redirects to inadvertent places.
If I understand clearly, your .htaccess now looks like this:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^pharmacy/?(.*)$ /wp-content/plugins/swift-mailer/lib/classes/$1 [L]
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ / [L,R=301]
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
As RewriteCond rules only affect one RewrtieRule below them, this rule
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
now applies to every request. Simply change your .htaccess to:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^pharmacy/?(.*)$ /wp-content/plugins/swift-mailer/lib/classes/$1 [L]
RewriteRule ^(.*)\.html$ / [L,R=301]
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
For now i have all requests to my domain to go through /index.php
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ $1 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
However i want to add an exception. If the request goes to folder "/this_specific_folder/" then it should go for "/this_specific_folder/index.php" instead of "/index.php", without breaking the current existing logic.
How can i achieve this?
You can have it this way:
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(this_specific_folder)(?:/.*)?$ /$1/index.php [L,NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.+)/$ $1 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
I am using .htaccess to manage clean URL's but for some reason I get a 404 Not Found Apache error in some cases.
If a user goes to http://domain.com/profile/ everything is fine.
If a user goes to http://domain.com/profile they will get the error
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)/([^/]*)$ /index.php?page=$1&cmd=$2 [L]
Try this:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
# /profile/cmd
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]+)/([^/]+)$ /index.php?page=$1&cmd=$2 [L]
# /profile
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)$ /index.php?page=$1 [L]
</IfModule>
You can redirect the url with the url which has trailing slash using 301 redirect
Try the following along with your rewrite condition. This will redirect any url request to url with trailing slash. ex. http://domain.com/profile will be redirected to http://domain.com/profile/
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !example.php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !(.*)/$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://domain.com/$1/ [L,R=301]
The rewrite rule you wrote requires one slash '/'.
Try this instead:
RewriteRule ^([^/]*)(/([^/]*))?$ /index.php?page=$1&cmd=$3 [L]
