Actually, you should load the model in your parent construct.
For example:
class services extends CI_Controller {
function __construct(){
parent::__construct();
$this->load->model('your_directory_model, 'your_initialize_model');
}
}
And then, if you want to use your model. you can build code like i write below in your method.
$this->your_initialize_model->your_model_method();

You are doing something wrong. You need to construct CI_controller first.
class MY_base extends CI_Controller{
public function __construct()

And now you can do this:
class Home extends MY_base{

I am trying to port an application's few functions from a CodeIgniter application to another existing CodeIgniter application. Both applications on themselves are working very well but when I added this thing it gives the following error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function order_by() on null in …\application\core\MY_Model.php on line 7
In this question I have removed parts unrelated to the error to simplify code.

whenever calling any $this->db ... you have to make sure to load your database library. Check in application\config\autoload.php for the following:
$autoload['libraries'] = array('database');
I have a CodeIgniter spark defining&autoloading a class libraries/Nci_nicecontroller.php:

now I want to use Nci_nicecontroller in my application's controller, e.g.:

obviously, I can't just $this->load->spark in my controller's constructor, because it's required on class extension.
when not using sparks, I just put the Nci_nicecontroller in a core/MY_Controller.php, but with sparks, this won't work.
I tried autoloading the spark in my application, which didn't work.
Then I tried:
get_instance()->load->spark('nci-extensions/0.0.4');
in the header of controllers/welcome.php, which gives me following errors:

I'm using CodeIgniter (v1.7.2) and I've created a custom controller that incorporates authentication called MY_Controller (based on David Winter's blog post). When I load any controllers that use this base class, I get this error;
*Message: Undefined property: MY_Controller::$session*
Note that I am autoloading 'session' (and 'MY_controller' as a library) like so:
$autoload['libraries'] = array('database', 'session', 'MY_Controller');
Here is MY_Controller:

When I var_dump $this->session above where the error occurs, I can see that it is NULL. Even putting $this->load->library('session'); in MY_Controller's constructor doesn't work. Why isn't it loading properly?

Try taking MY_Controller out of the autoload.
$autoload['libraries'] = array('database', 'session');
You are extending the controller class which is automatically loaded by codeigniter as it is part of the core
I'm trying to get familiar with CI and I have run into a problem while trying to implement my Model. I get the following error:
A PHP Error was encountered
Severity: Notice
Message: Undefined property: Home::$OrderModel
Filename: controllers/home.php
Line Number: 12
My assumption was that I was breaking some convention with the naming of the Model. If
I change the line in question and call the model using all lower case:
$data['query'] = $this->ordermodel->get_all_workorder_names();
Nothing is returned to the view.. blank page; no source, no error.
Here is my model:

Use $this->ordermodel. The variable name will match whatever you use with load->model()
