Install php-pear package on the current set up of Php7 - php

I need to install the php-pear package on the current php7 - CentOS7 set up. I have tried using the remi rpm repository but it creates a new php package. I need it on the existing one. Can anyone help?

# verify that you do not have any php-pear package installed
sudo yum list installed | grep "php*-pear"
# verify what php version your command line is using (which is _likely_
# to be the same than your web server)
php -v
# see what are the available php-pear package
sudo yum list available | grep "php*-pear"
#install the relevant php pear package
sudo yum install php71w-pear

How do I install an extension of Kafka for PHP?

This is the extension that I am trying to install: https://github.com/EVODelavega/phpkafka
The messages passed to the queue should be in JSON format.
Currently, I am getting installation errors:
1. The instructions ask me to install librdkafka.
2. The installation link for the above step is this. I am unable to install using the 1st and 4th method. This is the error:
checking for librdkafka/rdkafka.h" in default path... not found
configure: error: Please reinstall the rdkafka distribution
Quick Install Steps:
Step 1 Install PHP pecl and pear commands:
sudo apt install php-pear
Step 2 Install librdkafka
sudo apt-get install -y librdkafka-dev
Step 3 Install PECL-package
sudo pecl install rdkafka
Step4 Enable PHP-extension in PHP config. Add to php.ini
sudo nano /etc/php/7.4/cli/php.ini
extension=rdkafka.so
Step 4 Restart apache server
sudo service apache2 restart
because you need another package librdkafka,you should install librdkafka first
$ git clone https://github.com/edenhill/librdkafka.git
$ cd librdkafka
$ ./configure
$ make && make install
this way can resolve your problem
For Linux Debian Stretch (9.13) actual flow is:
Install PHP pecl and pear commands:
sudo apt install php-pear
FYI: Depends on your installed PHP version you may need to use concrete version package. For example: php7.2-pear.
Add backports repository. Current ext-rdkafka depends on librdkafka version 0.11.0 or greater. So follow official instructions, but use stretch-backports.
Install librdkafka-dev package from backports:
sudo apt -t stretch-backports install librdkafka-dev
Update apt:
sudo apt update
Install PECL-package:
sudo pecl install rdkafka
Enable PHP-extension in PHP config. Add to php.ini:
extension=rdkafka.so
FYI: You need to restart php-fpm service to apply new config params.

Unable to locate package libapache2-mod-php7

I tried installing php in ubuntu 16.04 using following command:
sudo apt-get install php7.0-mysql php7.0-curl php7.0-json php7.0-cgi php7.0 libapache2-mod-php7
but it says
Unable to locate package libapache2-mod-php7
Should I skip this or install by an alternative way?
The name of the package is libapache2-mod-php7.0
Try again by having that .0 at the end and it should work.
On Ubuntu 18.04, I had to add the repository below first. Once the repo was added I was able to install the php7.x items.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ondrej/php
Source: https://websiteforstudents.com/apache2-with-php-7-1-support-on-ubuntu-18-04-lts-beta-server/
If you are using Ubuntu 17.04/17.10 or above use php7.1 instead of 7.0 since it is no longer available.
sudo apt-get install php7.1
At the time of the post Ubuntu 16.04 was one of the newer versions and as such the packages changed to php7.0 but as time goes on it will be 7.1 to 7.2 etc... and I don't have the time to figure out what was the latest package and I'm not dependent on a specific version.
So if you want the latest version of packages to install without having to know the correct version number just drop the version number and the latest applicable to the distribution you are using will be installed.
In my case I was using Ubuntu 17.10 and the php version is different so I used the following command line to get the latest.
sudo apt-get install apache2 php-mysql libapache2-mod-php mysql-server
It installed php 7.1 and all of the correct dependencies.
So if you don't require a specific version but just want the latest that works with the distribution drop the version number and use the command line above.
It is likely the case that your local package index is not updated; try
sudo apt-get update
and then run the previous command again.
As an aside, there is now a program apt that is supposedly more user-friendly than apt-get, apt-cache etc. (see this question on Ask Ubuntu). So your commands could have been replaced by
sudo apt update
sudo apt install <the packages>
to get a slightly nicer user interface.
Probably this question would have been better suited to the Ask Ubuntu community.
Apache server can't start because libapache2-mod-php7.0 is not installed:
by default aptitude or apt install php7.0-common version 7.8.13 which is not adaptable and libapache2-mod-php need 7.0.8
remove php-common
download http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial/php7.0-common deb package and install it if it compains about php7.0-json, readline,cli,opache
then seatch in upper textbox about those library and install them in this manner
json
opach
cli
readline
install libapache2-mod-php7.0
RESTART APACHE 2
service apache2 restart
it must working probably
Good Luck!
Try for Ubuntu 16.04:
sudo apt-get update;
sudo apt-get install php7.0-fpm php7.0-mysql <other packages>;
for Ubuntu 14.04:
sudo apt-get update;
sudo apt-get install php5-mysql php5-mysql <other packages>;
It should be:
sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-php7.0
sudo apt-get install libapache2-mod-php7.1
worked for me (16.04Ubuntu).
If you getting error like php7.2 php7.2-curl libapache2-mod-php doesn't have installable candidate or not locate any package or dependencies is php7.2-common Or libcurl3 Do this . Remeber Change your package name as per your requirements
You have to tackle in mature way. Install aptitude these ubuntu package manager will finds all dependencies, and will install one by one.
apt-get install aptitude
Now you have to check if aptitude can download it or not if download it follow instructions
sudo aptitude install php7.2-curl
If you have gotten any error like this
E: Unable to locate package php7.2-curl
E: Couldn't find any package by glob 'php7.2-curl'
Any type on error i'm not talking about proper these errors
Try to add php package again
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ondrej/php
sudo apt-get update
Now try this command
sudo aptitude install php7.2-curl
Aptitude will ask you you want to keep current version of all dependencies
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:
Keep the following packages at their current version:
1) php7.2-curl [Not Installed]
Accept this solution? [Y/n/q/?]
Type n then Enter
Aptitude will find all dependencies and ask you to install all package type
y
Again
y
Then
systemctl restart apache2
For centos of rhel
systemctl restart httpd
It will Not enabling PHP 7.2 FPM by default.
NOTICE: To enable PHP 7.2 FPM in Apache2 do
a2enmod proxy_fcgi setenvif
a2enconf php7.2-fpm
This method is not only for this error you can find any of php apache2 or ubuntu system package solution using aptitude.
Upvote if you find your solution
Looks like we need to install the same version of libapache2-mod-php as the version of php present .I had php 7.4 installing libapache2-mod-php7.4 solved the problem.Thanks
just test upper versions of php
for example run:
sudo apt-get install php7.4-mysql php7.4-curl php7.4-json php7.4-cgi php7.0 libapache2-mod-php7.4

HHVM with FastCGI install error

I'm getting below error when I try to install using apt-get install -y --force-yes hhvm-fastcgi:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
hhvm-fastcgi : Depends: hhvm (>= 2.3.0)
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
I also did apt-get install hhvm but I'm getting:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
hhvm is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 10 not upgraded.
Is there a way to get this fastcgi working with HHVM?
As of the 3.0.0 release, there is no longer a hhvm-fastcgi package. Instead, the hhvm only supports FastCGI. You can find instructions on how to install that package for your distro here.
Once it has been successfully installed, it'll provide a short blurb on some commands that will then go and configure your web server (either Nginx or Apache) to use HHVM, or you can follow almost any php-fpm installation instructions, just replacing php-fpm with hhvm.
If you don't get the blurb (as you're already running the latest version), you can see it here.
As per the official documentation, we'll install HHVM, which also
includes the ability to start HHVM with FastCGI.
Pre-requisites
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install -y unzip vim git-core curl wget build-essential python-software-properties
Installing HHVM
$ wget -O - http://dl.hhvm.com/conf/hhvm.gpg.key | sudo apt-key add -
$ echo deb http://dl.hhvm.com/ubuntu precise main | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hhvm.list
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install -y hhvm
You can also try to do this before installing HHVM:
sudo add-apt-repository -y ppa:mapnik/boost
Additional:
This page has a comment about a vagrant box that comes pre installed with HHVM.

Hostgator Vps 1 install yum packages

I am trying to install packages using repositories.
I have tried Webtatic and install using
rpm -Uvh http://mirror.webtatic.com/yum/el6/latest.rpm
I then try
yum install --enablerepo=webtatic package-name
yum install cpanel-php53.x86_64
but I always get setting up install process nothing to do
How would I get php to work on this server? And also yum list install returns along list of packages do I have to do anything extra with these packages to use them
For custom rpm build, follow this guide.

struggling to install PHP pecl on Centos

I'm trying to install the php_http PHP extension on my CentOS server.
I have done:
yum install php-pear
But get:
No package php-pear available
Yet I can do:
pear
And get a list of commands from Pear.
Same for yum install pecl. I can do pecl but pecl install pecl_http returns:
No releases available for package "pecl.php.net/pecl_http"
install failed
Yet /usr/bin/pecl isn't a directory that exists. Also a sudo pecl install pecl_http returns sudo: pecl: command not found, which I find quite odd.
I'm not entirely sure what's going on here/what I'm doing wrong.
edit: I am using the following repos:
base CentOS-6 - Base
epel Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux 6 - x86_64
extras CentOS-6 - Extras
rpmforge RHEL 6 - RPMforge.net - dag
updates CentOS-6 - Updates
vz-base vz-base
vz-updates vz-updates
On CentOS,
Install PHP Pear if not installed yet:
# yum install php-pear
Install GCC if not installed yet:
# yum install gcc
Install cURL if not installed yet:
# yum install curl-devel
Install following libraries if not installed yet:
# yum install php-devel
# yum install zlib-devel
# yum install pcre-devel
Start the main installation:
# pecl install pecl_http
Add the following line to /etc/php.ini file
extension=raphf.so
extension=propro.so
extension=http.so
Restart apache server so the extension can be loaded
# service httpd restart
You can check if it installed successfully or not:
# pecl list
Step 1) import the REMI repo
CentOS 5
rpm -Uvh http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/5/i386/epel-release-5-4.noarch.rpm;
rpm -Uvh http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-5.rpm;
CentOS 6
rpm -Uvh http://download.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/i386/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm;
rpm -Uvh http://rpms.famillecollet.com/enterprise/remi-release-6.rpm;
Step 2) install php-pear
yum --enablerepo=remi,remi-php55 install php-pear
Step 3) install pecl_http
pecl install pecl_http
For other people having this problem. I discovered this question while trying to figure out why I was having the same problem. Turned out the default configuration at my hosting provider was to include php* in the exclude directive for yum. Check /etc/yum.conf and make sure that the package you're trying to install isn't matched by an entry in the exclude directive.
if you are running php 7 you might want to try this
yum install php70w-pear
if you get any errors, be sure to uninstall the pear package from any previous attempts
yum remove php-pear
best of luck
If you are using php 5.4.x, IMO best repo to use is iuscommunity. Its very stable and used by Rackspace to do only PHP and a few other packages for CentOS.
rpm -Uhv http://dl.iuscommunity.org/pub/ius/stable/CentOS/6/x86_64/ius-release-1.0-11.ius.centos6.noarch.rpm
yum install php54-pear
Mind you, the reason why its php54-pear and not php-pear is because 5.3 and 5.4 both are compiled in the repository. Here is the list of php packages -> http://dl.iuscommunity.org/pub/ius/stable/CentOS/6/x86_64/repoview/development.languages.group.html
I tested this and it works, but I only use EPEL and iuscommunity REPO's. I avoid using rpmforge myself.
Centos 6.5 and php7:
sudo su -
yum install yum-utils
you can get last version of lua : http://pecl.php.net/package/lua
wget http://pecl.php.net/get/lua-2.0.4.tgz
tar -xvzf lua-2.0.4.tgz
cd lua-2.0.4
mkdir /usr/include/lua
mv * /usr/include/lua
yum install gcc
yum install php70w-pearl php70w-devel
yum install curl-devel
yum install zlib-devel
yum install pcre-devel
ln -s /usr/include/lua.h /usr/include/lua/lua.h
rpm -Uvh https://centos6.iuscommunity.org/ius-release.rpm
yum-config-manager --enable remi-php70
yum update
yum --enablerepo=remi,remi-php70 install php70w-pear
yum install lua-devel lua-static
pecl install lua-2.0.4
Whatever your PHP provider is (IUS, Remi or Webtatic), the pear package and the pecl extensions "should" be available there, without any need to compile it from sources (which is usually discouraged, especially on production)
At least "remi" provides most extensions, see the list
So installation should be as simple as
yum install php-pecl-http
yum install php-pecl-lua
etc
And, don't forget to read the Wizard instructions
I tried almost everything on this list before I finally realized that my WHM/cPanel installation was blocking the yum packages. I have to install all PECL modules (I was stuck trying to install mongodb on this particular occation) through the Home > Software > Module Installers inside WHM (cpanel documentation says that you have to be logged in as root).
After watching a lot of threads and installing pear and all the devtool, I finally solved it installing this extension:
yum install php-pecl-mongo
as I seen in - https://madcoda.com/2012/12/install-mongodb-php-driver-in-centos-6-3/
