I'm using a for cycle that creates as many buttons as many names are in my database.
$result = $db->query("SELECT `username` FROM `vote`");
for ($i=0; $i < $result->rowcount(); $i++) {
And every button has a name fetched from the database.
<button name="<?php echo $Class->FileName[$i];?>"
I want to save the name of a button into a variable after it's pressed. How can I achieve this?
You can search the name of the button in the $_POST variable. Will return true if submited.
if($_POST['mi-button']){$button='mi-button';}
<select class="form-control space-bottom" onclick="getHistory(this.value)" id="animal" style="width:40%;display:block;margin-auto;margin-top:70px;margin-left:300px"name="target" required>
<?php
foreach($patients_rows as $key0 => $value0){
$name = implode(' ',$value0);
unset($value0['history'],$value0['ID']);
$aj = implode(' ', $value0);
foreach($value0 as $key =>$value){
if($key == 'pet_name'){
echo '<option " value="'.$aj.'">'.$aj.'</option>';
}
}
}
?>
</select>
Would be like this but with buttons instead of select/option

Having an issue updating a large form with checkboxes effectively to database.
Just for illustration:
<form action="save.php" method="post">
<?php
for {$i=0;$i<1000;$i++) {
echo '<input type="checkbox" name="product-' . $i . '">';
}
<input type="submit">
</form>
<?php
$posted_values = $_POST;
foreach($posted_values as $key=>$p) {
$chkbox = $posted_values[$p];
$update = 0;
if ($chkbox == 'on') {
$update = 1;
}
//Do some "expensive" checking for each posted value
$save_dbarray[$key] = $update;
}
//Do the actual updating to databased based on array `save_dbarray`
Is there any way of just adding changed checkboxes to the save_dbarray? (Only checked boxes would be posted to $_POST, but I want unchecked values to be a part of the update as well if they have changed) I have to do some expensive checking for each posted value, therefore
UPDATE
I dont want to have loop through all 1000 checkboxes. I just want to loop through the changed (from checked to unchecked or from unchecked to checked) checkboxes, but in above case $posted_values would only return checkboxes that has checked values (from unchecked to checked)
<?php
//I DONT want to have to do like this:
for {$i=0;$i<1000;$i++) {
$prodnr = 'product-' . $i;
$chkbox = $_POST[$prodnr];
$update = 0;
if ($chkbox == 'on') {
$update = 1;
}
//Do some "expensive" checking for every value
$save_dbarray[$key] = $update;
}
//Do the actual updating to databased based on array `save_dbarray`
You can use HTML array inputs and PHP to do the same.
A sample code will be like below.
<form action="save.php" method="post">
<?php
for ($i=0;$i<1000;$i++) {
echo '<input type="checkbox" name="products[]" value="' . $i . '"> '. $i .'<br>';
}
?>
<input type="submit">
</form>
<?php
print_r($_POST['products']); // Will contain your desired output
foreach($_POST['products'] as $i) {
$save_dbarray[$i] = 'on'; // 'on' or whatever value if you need.
// Actually you just need $_POST['products'], no need for this loop.
}
print_r($save_dbarray);
?>
EDIT
You need to loop through $_POST['products'] to find the new checked ones and you need to loop through $already_selected to find the unchecked ones.
<?php
// Select from db or something
$already_selected = array(2,3);
foreach($_POST['products'] as $i) {
if(!in_array($i,$already_selected)){
$save_dbarray[$i] = 'checked_update';
}
}
foreach($already_selected as $j) {
if(!in_array($j,$_POST['products'])){
$save_dbarray[$j] = 'unchecked_update';
}
}
print_r($save_dbarray);
// Do db update and select again and update $already_selected to display the checked ones
?>
<form action="save.php" method="post">
<?php
for ($i=1;$i<10;$i++) {
$checked = in_array($i, $already_selected) ? 'checked' : '';
echo '<input type="checkbox" name="products[]" value="' . $i . '" ' . $checked . '> '. $i .'<br>';
}
?>
<input type="submit">
</form>
I have a form where you can select a radio button and it should transfer what was selected to the next page. My problem is that no matter which radio button you choose it always transfers the value associated last radio button over instead of the one you chose.
So if I choose Around the World it carries 5 with it instead of 10
I am required to use the GET method.
Here is my code:
$title = array("Around the World"=>"10","Coast to Coast"=>"7","The Big City"=>"5");
foreach($title as $sub=>$s_value) {
echo "$sub $$s_value";
echo '<input type="radio" name="sub" value="', $sub,'">';
echo "<br>";
}
if (empty($_GET["sub"])) {
} else {
$sub = sub_input($_GET["sub"]);
}
if (empty($_GET["s_value"])) {
} else {
$s_value = sub_input($_GET["s_value"]);
}
if (isset($title['sub'])){
$valid=false;
}
This is the code for the next page:
echo "<b>$sub</b><br />";
echo "Base Total: $ $s_value/mon x $month months <br />";
Yes I have omitted a lot of things, because everything else in my code is fine.
I tried doing this as well, adding in an unset() statement but it didnt work. It completely deleted the value variable....
$title = array("Around the World"=>"10","Coast to Coast"=>"7","The Big City"=>"5");
foreach($title as $sub=>$s_value) {
echo "$sub $$s_value";
echo '<input type="radio" name="sub" value="', $sub,'">';
echo "<br>";
unset($s_value);
}
//I also tried putting the unset here//
if (empty($_GET["sub"])) {
} else {
$sub = sub_input($_GET["sub"]);
}
if (empty($_GET["s_value"])) {
} else {
$s_value = sub_input($_GET["s_value"]);
}
if (isset($title['sub'])){
$valid=false;
}
You need to change the names of your variables $s & $s_value within the foreach loop. The foreach loop is setting these variables and they are then being accessed outside of the foreach loop if either of the GET values is empty such that there is no GET value to replace the contents of the variable. Therefore, it always uses 5 as the value because that is the last $s_value that you set.
In summary, changing $s & $s_value within the foreach loop to something like $key & $value respectively will fix your problem with the array value. Alternatively, you could unset them after the foreach loop but before the if statements.
In your current code, you just happened to switched the values on the loop. 10, 7, 5 are inside the elements, while the names Around The world... etc are inside the keys. You just need to switch them. Consider this example:
<?php
$title = array("Around the World"=>"10","Coast to Coast"=>"7","The Big City"=>"5");
if(isset($_GET['submit'], $_GET['sub'])) {
$sub = $_GET['sub'];
$name = array_search($sub, $title);
echo '<script>alert("You selected '.$name. ' => '.$sub.'");</script>';
}
?>
<form method="GET" action="index.php">
<?php foreach($title as $key => $value): ?>
<input type="radio" name="sub" value="<?php echo $value; ?>" /> <?php echo $key; ?> <br/>
<?php endforeach; ?>
<br/>
<input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>
How to post the value of input sub to function my query in the next input without reloading the page?
I need to post the value to process my query. How to do this?
Help please
<input name="sub" id="sub" value="" style="width:35px;text-transform:uppercase;">
<input id="sub1" name="sub1" style="width:35px;text-transform:uppercase;"
value='<?php
$sub=$_POST['sub'];
$mysqli = new mysqli("localhost", "root", "", "2015");
$result2 = $mysqli->query("SELECT * FROM code
WHERE sub1code LIKE '$sub-___' ORDER BY sub1code");
while($row = $result2->fetch_assoc())
{
$value = $row['sub1code'];
}
$first = substr($value, 0, 4);
echo $first;
$last = substr($value, -3);
$i="0";
while($i<=$last)
{
$i++;
}
$value2=strlen($i);
echo $first;
if($value2==1)
{
echo "00".$i;
}
elseif($value2==2)
{
echo "0".$i;
}
else
{
echo $i;
}
?>'>
You need to separate the code that generates the value for the second input into a different file. Then you use Javascript to start an AJAX call after the user entered the value for input1 to retrieve the value for input2.
I have a system where I rearrange navigational items.
It stores the new order in an array and then I use a for loop to go through the array and update the database.
<?php
$apageid = array();
$apagename = array();
$apageorder = array();
$q = "SELECT g.id, g.title, n.order FROM tbl_general g INNER JOIN tbl_navigation n ON n.pageid = g.id WHERE n.type = '$_SESSION[parent]' ORDER BY n.order";
$return = $database->query($q);
while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($return)){
$apageid[] = $row['id'];
$apagename[] = $row['title'];
$apageorder[] = $row['order'];
}
$count = count($apageid);
$bpageid = array();
$bpageorder = array();
?>
<div class="form-holder">
<?php
//run through each page one at a time and update the order of the menu
mysql_data_seek( $return, 0 ); //reset the pointer to do the same query
$i = 0; //the count for saving the new configuration
while($row=mysql_fetch_assoc($return)){
$id = $row['id'];
$title = $row['title'];
$order = $row['order'];
?>
<div class="form-row">
<div class="form-label">
Page Name
</div>
<div class="form-field">
<select class="select-small" name="<?php echo $bpageid[$i]; ?>">
<?php
for($j=0; $j<$count; $j++){
if($apageid[$j] == $id) {
$selected = true;
} else {
$selected = false;
}
?>
<option value="<?php echo $apageid[$j]; ?>" <? echo ($selected == true) ? 'selected="selected"' : ''; ?>><?php echo $apagename[$j]; ?></option>
<?php
}
?>
</select>
<select class="select-small" name="<?php echo $bpageorder[$i]; ?>">
<?php
for($k=0; $k<$count; $k++){
if($apageorder[$k] == $order) {
$selected = true;
} else {
$selected = false;
}
?>
<option value="<?php echo $apageorder[$k]; ?>" <? echo ($selected == true) ? 'selected="selected"' : ''; ?>><?php echo $apageorder[$k]; ?></option>
<?php
}
?>
</select>
</div>
</div>
<?php
$i++;
}
?>
This first chunk of code is the menu where you can reorder items.
Initially it loads up the current select and allows you to change the ordering.
function reorderChildren($pageid, $pageorder){
global $database;
$count = count($pageid);
//run through each page one at a time and update the order of the menu
for($i=0; $i<$count; $i++){
//set a few variables
$pid = $pageid[$i];
$porder = $pageorder[$i];
echo "pid = $pid porder = $porder";
$q = "UPDATE tbl_navigation SET order = '$porder' WHERE pageid = '$pid' AND type = '$_SESSION[parent]'";
$database->query($q);
}
return 0;
}
The information then ends up being passed here and the problem appears to be the for loop is never executed.
Can anyone see why this would be?
It's not the naming used, I've checked them.
Am I storing information in the arrays correctly?
Can I make it clear that it's $bpageid and $bpageorder that are the arrays carrying the information forward.
Thanks!
Was a simple fix!
The problem was that the select name needed to be just name="bpageid[]" rather than what I listed above. Silly!
You have just initilized $bpageid = array(); at top after first while loop.No value is assigned
after that you using
<select class="select-small" name="<?php echo $bpageid[$i]; ?>">
but no value is in $bpageid[$i] so name of this select box is blank.
It might be problem. check this and do as required.
you could try to construct a json from the options of the select element store it to a hidden field or send ajax request to php script for processing , order could be made from a "weight" value 1,2,3 etc.... sort it with php and loop to display
I have a select box that shows 3 options: option1, option2, option3. When a user hits submit, then in $_POST I do have the value selected. Is there an easy way to redisplay the select box with the chosen option highlighted WITHOUT it being repeated in the options?
In other words, if option2 is selected and submit is clicked, the page should display again with option2 selected, and option1 and option 3 underneath.
Thanks.
<?php
$arrValues = array(...);
$selectedValue = (isset ($_POST['selectName']) ? $_POST['selectName'] : "");
?>
<select name="selectName">
<?php
for ($i = 0; $i < count($arrValues); $i++)
{
$opts = ($arrValues[$i] == $selectedValue) ? ' selected="selected"': '';
echo '<option value="' . $arrValues[$i] . '"' . $opts . '>' . $arrValues[$i] . '</option>';
}
?>
</select>
Create your options like this.
$options = array("optionvalue" => "Option Name");
foreach($options as $value => $name)
{
if(isset($_POST['select_box']))
{
if($_POST['select_box'] == $value)
{
echo '<option selected="selected" value="'.$value.'">'.$name.'</option>';
continue;
}
}
echo '<option value="'.$value.'">'.$name.'</option>';
}
When you generate the select box, use the POST data (if available) to pick the item that's selected (and/or to sort the items).
Kind of like:
if($_POST["optval"] == $opt) $sel = "selected='selected'"; else $sel = "";
print "<option value='$opt' " . $sel . ">$opt</option>";
Naturally you'd want to verify that the POST data is valid and that it exists (isset). Assuming of course that you generate your select box from data accessible by PHP, rather than statically define it.
