I have a table call viewed books like below in database
book_id user_uniq_id date
3 111111 2018-11-06 00:29:15
like that so many rows I need to get book_id and user_uniq_id according to date
as a example this date these users viewed these books like that
How can I write a sql query for this in codeigniter
I'm not sure if your question is clear enough, but from what i got you want a query based on the timestamp then you should try this.
$timestamp = '2018-11-06 00:29:15';
$this->db->select('book_id, user_uniq_id');
$query = $this->db->get_where('table', array('date' => '>' . $timestamp));
$sql = "SELECT book_id, user_uniq_id from viewed_books ORDER BY date";
$query = $this->db->query($sql);
$bookData= $query->result_array();
You can see your results from
var_dump($bookData);
Hope this is the answer you seek

I have 5 records in mysql database and these records have recorded date within this date interval.
$year=2015;
$month=8;
$datefrom=1;
$dateto=31;
$startdate='$year-$month-$datefrom 00:00:00';
$enddate='$year-$month-$dateto 23:59:59';
So I write a query to get these records out like this:
$sql = "SELECT id FROM newpost WHERE email=:email AND :startdate <= poststart <= :enddate AND postapproved=1";
Given that poststart column in table newpost has SQL Datetime format like this: "Y-m-d H:i:s".
But when I changed variable $year = 2016, I still got 5 results? It should return no record. Because those 5 records are recorded between 1 - 31 August 2015.
So I thought I did something wrong in the sql query especially the comparing date part but I could not configure out how to fix it?
Please help!
You can use BETWEEN in your query
$sql = "SELECT id FROM newpost WHERE email=:email AND (poststart BETWEEN :startmonth AND :endmonth) postapproved=1"
Use single quotes to wrap your date values
$sql = "SELECT id FROM newpost WHERE email=:email AND poststart BETWEEN ':startdate' AND ':enddate' AND postapproved=1";
A couple quick things to check to make sure it's not a syntactical error:
Your variable names don't match up. You defined startdate and enddate, but then in the query you used startmonth and endmonth.
You should probably also use leading zeros in your month and day, i.e.:
$month='08';
$datefrom='01';
I have a database that contains a column with type - Date. I also have a query with the date inputted as static which works fine but I would like to use todays date in the query. any recommendations?
Query :
$q = 'SELECT count(ID) as count FROM ORDER WHERE
ASSIGN_TO ='.$db->qstr($person).' AND OPEN_DATE ='.$db->qstr('2014-05-14');
This currently displays count of items after 2014-05-14
You could use the NOW() function that returns the current date. To avoid skewed answered by hours/minutes/seconds, you can use date to extract the date part:
$q = 'SELECT count(ID) as count FROM ORDER WHERE
ASSIGN_TO ='.$db->qstr($person).' AND DATE(OPEN_DATE) = DATE(NOW())';
I am trying to get the details of a persons based on the user input age (Integer). Now my query always returns null Array() whenever I execute the below code. I haven't specified the $postdata array. You can see I have used $postdata['ageto'] and $postdata['agefrom'] are used in calculating $agefrom and $ageto
$now = new DateTime();
//Converting _POST age to Date
$agefrom = date("Y-m-d",strtotime($now->format("Y")-$postdata['ageto'].'-'.$now->format("m").'-'.$now->format("d")));
$ageto = date("Y-m-d",strtotime($now->format("Y")-$postdata['agefrom'].'-'.$now->format("m").'-'.$now->format("d")));
$this->db->select('uacc_id, uacc_username, name, dob, city, education');
$this->db->from('user_accounts as a');
$this->db->join('personal as b','a.uacc_id = b.pruserid','INNER');
$this->db->join('profession as c','a.uacc_id = c.puserid','INNER');
$this->db->join('location as d','a.uacc_id = d.luserid','INNER');
$this->db->where('dob >= ',$agefrom);
$this->db->where('dob <= ',$ageto);
$this->db->limit(10, $offset);
$query = $this->db->get();
return $query->result();
I have suspected that my input post is not fetching the data properly. So I have replaced it with my simple query select * from... where dob >.... and it worked well. So there is no problem with _POST variables. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Can some one help me.
I think you have to specify to which table DOB belongs like a.dob. Sorry for the post but I could not comment. Hope this helps.
The select field should add the table name
$this->db->select('a.uacc_id, a.uacc_username, a.name....); // example
and your where add table name too.
$this->db->where('b.dod >= ', $agefrom); // example
or you can output the sql command.

I need to match the result format of 2 code:
I need to get the output/format of this:
$event_day = $year.'-'.$month.'-'.$list_day; // $event_day
match this:
DATE_FORMAT(date,'%Y-%m-%d')
Full code:
$query = "
SELECT title, DATE_FORMAT(date,'%Y-%m-%d') AS date
FROM table
WHERE user_id = '$session_user_id'
AND date BETWEEN '$year-$month-1' AND '" . date("Y-m-t", strtotime("$year-$month-1")) . "'
AND active = 1";
My problem is that $event_day is only displaying events for: October, November and December.
I had a similar problem with this code below:
$query = "
SELECT title, DATE_FORMAT(date,'%Y-%m-%d') AS date
FROM table
WHERE user_id = '$session_user_id'
AND date LIKE '$year-$month%'
AND active = 1";
and it was fixed with this code:
$query = "
SELECT title, DATE_FORMAT(date,'%Y-%m-%d') AS date
FROM table
WHERE user_id = '$session_user_id'
AND date BETWEEN '$year-$month-1' AND '" . date("Y-m-t", strtotime("$year-$month-1")) . "'
AND active = 1";
Anyone know how I could sort this out?
If you are simply trying to match dates in a SQL query, which is what you look like you're after, you can just pass the date as a string with a # on each end. This will tell SQL to parse the string as a date and the format you give it in is not really important. The exception to this is it can get confused between US/EU date formats like dd/mm/yyyy vs mm/dd/yyyy.
$query = "SELECT title, DATE_FORMAT(myDate,'%Y-%m-%d') AS formattedDate
FROM table
WHERE user_id = '$session_user_id'
AND (myDate BETWEEN #$year-$month-1# AND #$year-$month-1#)
AND active = 1";
This format should work but your query is select records that fall between the same date so you'll only get records that are actually on that date. You might as well just use WHERE date = #$year-$month-1#
edit: this assumes your date field datatype is correctly set up in the database as a date/time.
edit2: "date" is often a reserved word in databases and shouldn't really be used for field names and variables. See edited code above.
In addition I would suggest using php to format the date using the date() function rather than format it in the query. This allows more flexibility to actually use the date in your script.
I have an sql query that I use to display the news section of my website.
I would really love for the dates to be presented as "2nd January, 2012" however as I am selecting all fields from 5 tables I don't know where to put my formatting requirements (I am not selecting individual fields).
My query is below:
$query_newsheadlines = "
SELECT *
FROM
NewsArticles,
NewsArticleCategories,
NewsArticlePhotos,
NewsCategories,
NewsPhotos
WHERE
NewsArticles.id = NewsArticleCategories.newsArticleID
AND NewsArticles.id = NewsArticlePhotos.newsArticleID
AND NewsArticlePhotos.newsPhotoID = NewsPhotos.id
AND NewsArticleCategories.newsCategoryID = NewsCategories.id
AND NewsCategories.SectionID = 201
ORDER BY NewsArticles.publishDate DESC";
Any ideas would be appreciated :)
update the column my date is located in is NewsArticles.publishDate
you need to specify what column do you want to be formatted (just don't be lazy on specifying the column). Use DATE_FORMAT
SELECT DATE_FORMAT(CURDATE(),'%D %M, %Y')
