Your path is not set correctly!
Try to use a real path/filename:
$filename = "/var/www/html/app/nameofyourfile.apk";
And also your content-type is not set correctly, try:
Content-type: application/com.android.package-install
If these two errors are corrected, it would probably force to download your apk file.
Anyway, this should work ->

On android, once download starts, it downloads an unreadable htm file. $mp3 is like this: NAME.mp3. What may be wrong?
Hmmm, have you looked at your PHP error logs? This sounds to me like your server / dev environment doesn't have PHP running correctly.

Yes, but remember headers tell devices what type of file it is. Different devices will interpret different files in different ways. In the example I linked, he sets the mime-type as well as headers:

At the end of each month, I want to download some data from my webserver to my local PC.
So, I've written a little script for that, which selects the data from the DB.
Next, I want to download it.
I've tried this:

Your current code does not output a file, it just sends headers.
in order for your script to work add the following code after your fclose statement.

It looks like the filename portion $audio->path is URL-encoded, while the name of the actual file on the server is not. You should fix it at the source (no idea where that path is set from), but in the meantime an easy workaround would be to write
$file = Yii::getPathOfAlias('webroot') . urldecode($audio->path);
This is more of a php question than a yii one.

Also according IANA there is no registered application/force-download type.

my code works for txt,doc,docx,pdf,ppt,pptx,jpg,png,zip extensions and I think its better to use the actual MIME types explicitly.
