Running too much php-cgi.exe process in Apache VirtualHost on Windows - php

I have a virtualhost configurated like this:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin name#ganydomain.com
DocumentRoot "C:/xampp/www/portal/web"
ServerName portal
<Directory "C:/xampp/www/portal/web">
Require all granted
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ app.php [QSA,L]
</IfModule>
</Directory>
<Directory /var/www/project/web/bundles>
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine Off
</IfModule>
</Directory>
<Files ~ "\.php$">
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks ExecCGI
AddHandler fcgid-script .php
FcgidWrapper "C:/Xampp/php-7.1.8-nts/php-cgi.exe" .php
</Files>
</VirtualHost>
I'm not sure it is properly well conigurated because I have 6 processes working and sometimes I get an 500 error with the following messatge at the bottom: Apache/2.4.17 (Win32) OpenSSL/1.0.2d PHP/5.6.14 mod_fcgid/2.3.9. I its weird seeing php5.6 here because it is the principal version installed in this Apache (it is sol old) but not uset in this virtualhost.
If somebody can give me any tip I would appreciate it so much.

Configuring Symfony 5 Application on Apache server

I need some help with configuring Symfony on apache2 web server.
My current project category structure is:
var/www/domain.com/public_html
Inside public_html is where my Symfony application is located.
I am stuck at figuring our what I am doing wrong in my either .htaccess or /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.com.conf files.
I am using symfony/apache-pack. My .htaccess files live inside /public folder as per documentation. Here it is:
DirectoryIndex index.php
<IfModule mod_negotiation.c>
Options -MultiViews
</IfModule>
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI}::$0 ^(/.+)/(.*)::\2$
RewriteRule .* - [E=BASE:%1]
RewriteCond %{HTTP:Authorization} .+
RewriteRule ^ - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%0]
RewriteCond %{ENV:REDIRECT_STATUS} =""
RewriteRule ^index\.php(?:/(.*)|$) %{ENV:BASE}/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^ %{ENV:BASE}/index.php [L]
</IfModule>
<IfModule !mod_rewrite.c>
<IfModule mod_alias.c>
RedirectMatch 307 ^/$ /index.php/
</IfModule>
</IfModule>
And here is my /etc/apache2/sites-available/domain.com.conf
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin someemail#example.com
ServerName mydomain.com
ServerAlias www.mydomain.com
DocumentRoot /var/www/mydomain.com/public_html/public
<Directory /var/www/mydomain.com/public_html/public>
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
Allow from All
</Directory>
ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log
CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{SERVER_NAME} =www.mydomain.com [OR]
RewriteCond %{SERVER_NAME} =mydomain.com
RewriteRule ^ https://%{SERVER_NAME}%{REQUEST_URI} [END,NE,R=permanent]
</VirtualHost>
I also read this and updated 000-default.conf as follows:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin webmaster#localhost
ServerAlias www.mydomain.com
DocumentRoot /var/www/mydomain.com/public_html/public
<Directory /var/www/domain.com/public_html/public>
Options FollowSymlinks MultiViews
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride All
Require all granted
Allow from All
</Directory>
ErrorLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/error.log
CustomLog ${APACHE_LOG_DIR}/access.log combined
<IfModule mod_dir.c>
DirectoryIndex index.php index.pl index.cgi index.html index.xhtml >
</IfModule>
</VirtualHost>
For the moment I am still seeing symfony project folder structure.
I tried:
inside .htaccess changing DirectoryIndex to /public/index.php
inside .conf file changin DocumentRoot to /va/www/domain.com/public_html/public
tried clearing cache
SO far nothings seems to help.
Would be extremely helpful for any advice.
I see that you are editing vhost which begins with
<VirtualHost *:80>......
That mean your website should be reachable by 80 port or in other words by http protocol. But! If in reality you are accessing your website by https protocol then make sure you are editing right Apache2 .conf file.
If the website is reachable by https protocol (especially if you use LetEncrypt), then try locating /etc/apache2/sites-available/....-le-ssl.conf config file (or similar one with corresponding domain title and with ssl prefix or postfix in it's name).
After editing that file do not forget to restart Apache2 webserver with $sudo service apache2 restart and test website again.

Symfony app show .php extension in url and loop login page

I have a website made with Symfony 2.8.22 running with Apache 2.4.18. I have RewriteEngine activated in the virtualhost to not show the .php extension in the url. However I have 2 problems. The first one is I do get the .php extension via url. The second problem is I have a loop in the login page; once I input the credentials it reloads the same login page again, and again. That happens in Chrome and Firefox, however in Microsoft Edge that loop wont happen, it just follow to the next page.
Why is that?
Where's my virtualhost file:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName ip.ip.ip.ip
DocumentRoot /var/www/html/website/web
<Directory /var/www/html/website/web>
AllowOverride All
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from All
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule (.*)\.php $1 [R=301,L]
</IfModule>
</Directory>
<Directory /var/www/project>
Options FollowSymlinks
</Directory>
ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/error_website.log
CustomLog /var/log/apache2/access_website.log combined
</VirtualHost>
Thanks in advance.
Best regards.
I am not certain why you are trying to forcably remove .php from the web address bar. If you follow the Symfony Configuration guide it will give you an .htaccess file that works and will not display .php extensions:
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName domain.tld
ServerAlias www.domain.tld
DocumentRoot /var/www/project/web
<Directory /var/www/project/web>
AllowOverride None
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from All
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options -MultiViews
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ app.php [QSA,L]
</IfModule>
</Directory>
# uncomment the following lines if you install assets as symlinks
# or run into problems when compiling LESS/Sass/CoffeeScript assets
# <Directory /var/www/project>
# Options FollowSymlinks
# </Directory>
# optionally disable the RewriteEngine for the asset directories
# which will allow apache to simply reply with a 404 when files are
# not found instead of passing the request into the full symfony stack
<Directory /var/www/project/web/bundles>
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine Off
</IfModule>
</Directory>
ErrorLog /var/log/apache2/project_error.log
CustomLog /var/log/apache2/project_access.log combined
</VirtualHost>

Apache looks for index.php files in Laravel 5

I am a begginer in Laravel and I am having troubles with Apache 2.2.15 on CentOS 6.5 and Laravel 5. I have searched for this error and I found some solutions for .htaccess and for httpd.conf but none of them are working and i get this error when trying to access "public/auth/register" or "public/auth/login" and even "/home":
Not Found
The requested URL /index.php was not found on this server.
Here is my .htaccess:
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
</IfModule>
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L]
</IfModule>
And here is my httpd.conf
<Directory "/var/www/html">
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
The only page that works is the public/index.php
You have to point apache to the public folder:
<VirtualHost *:80>
DocumentRoot /var/www/html/public
<Directory "/var/www/html/public">
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
</VirtualHost>

Apache's Alias directive is not working as expected

I am trying to integrate my portal with my website.
My website :
http://example.com
and My portal :
http://portal.com
Now I want to see my portal from :
http://example.com/portal
Part of my core apache config file (sites-enabled/website):
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerAdmin webmaster#localhost
ServerName example.com
DocumentRoot /home/example/WebSite2.0/WebContent
DirectoryIndex index.php index.html
<Directory /home/example/WebSite2.0/WebContent>
Options +IncludesNOEXEC
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
allow from all
XBitHack On
AddType text/html .html
AddHandler server-parsed .html
</Directory>
Alias /portal /home/example/portal/CodeIgniter_2.1.0
<Directory /home/example/portal/CodeIgniter_2.1.0>
DirectoryIndex "index.php"
allow from all
Options +Indexes
#Options FollowSymLinks MultiViews
Order allow,deny
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /portal
#RewriteRule ^test\.html$ test.php
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|css|images|robots\.txt)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
RewriteCond $1 ^(css|images|js)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ $1
</Directory>
</VirtualHost>
As you see my portal functions on top of CodeIgniter; Hence -
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|css|images|robots\.txt)
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php/$1 [L]
Part of my core apache config file (sites-enabled/portal) :
<VirtualHost *:443>
ServerAdmin webmaster#localhost
ServerName portal.com
ServerAlias www.portal.com
DocumentRoot /home/example/portal/CodeIgniter_2.1.0
DirectoryIndex "index.php"
SSLEngine On
SSLCertificateFile "ssl/portal.com.crt"
SSLCertificateKeyFile "ssl/portal.com.key"
<Directory /home/example/portal/CodeIgniter_2.1.0>
Options FollowSymLinks MultiViews
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
allow from all
Header unset Server
ServerSignature Off
</Directory>
</VirtualHost>
Now the real problem is when I open http://example.com/portal the browser is looking for the images in the DocumentRoot and not in Alias.
e.g. for image from portal,
<img src="/images/example.png" style="margin-left:30px;height:50px;">
apache error log says -
File does not exist: /home/example/WebSite2.0/WebContent/images/example.png
I would hate to make changes to my code. I just want to get this thing working from the apache config file itself. Please help me do this.
RewriteBase /portal require that the url should begin with /portal. So:
RewriteCond $1 !^(index\.php|css|images|robots\.txt)
will not be hit.
<img src="/images/example.png" style="margin-left:30px;height:50px;">
will try to search file from DocumentRoot.
update1
For there is RewriteBase /portal, example.com/portal/images will hit the Rewrite rule, but example.com/images will not, so:
<img src="/images/example.png" style="margin-left:30px;height:50px;">
should be:
<img src="/portal/images/example.png" style="margin-left:30px;height:50px;">
update2
It is the answer given by #Hussain Tamboli himself, with:
RewriteRule /(images|js|css)/(.+)\.(.+)$ /portal/$1/$2.$3 [PT].
/images/Invoice.png will rewrite to /portal/images/Invoice.png

.htaccess throws 403 Forbidden / Zend Framework quickstart project creation (Mac OS X 10.6.5)

I am trying to get Zend Framework's quickstart tutorial up and running, but i ran into .htaccess issue. It seems if i remove the .htaccess file, the project runs fine, but if i leave it in there it throws a 403 Forbidden. The .htaccess is the default file generated by Zend Framework console command. Here is the .htaccess:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -s [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -l [OR]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
RewriteRule ^.*$ - [NC,L]
RewriteRule ^.*$ index.php [NC,L]
This is under Mac OS X 10.6.5
mod_rewrite is on
AllowOveride All
Here is my virtual host info
<VirtualHost *:80>
ServerName zf_cms.local
DocumentRoot /Users/kjye/Sites/zf_cms/public
SetEnv APPLICATION_ENV "development"
<Directory /Users/kjye/Sites/zf_cms/public>
Options +Indexes +FollowSymLinks +ExecCGI
DirectoryIndex index.php
AllowOverride All
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>
</VirtualHost>
I fixed it by adding "Options +Indexes +FollowSymLinks +ExecCGI" Thanks for viewing.

This turns out to work under mac os. thanks for all the help and comment.
I was having the same issue and added
Options +Indexes +FollowSymLinks +ExecCGI
Can someone shed some clarity on what the actual problem is and what this does to rectify it?
