I'm sorry for my English.
I have a dynamic php form connected to mysql DB. In stock array I save the mysql query results. I can access the name of the product[0] and its available quantity [4]. I use the name of the product[0] to set input name and available quantity to fix max parameter value, as it below:
<input type="number" name="<?php echo $stock[$i][0]?>" min="0" max="<?php echo $stock[$i][4]; ?>" value="0" style="width:4em>
I don't kwow how many inputs will be created (and which, because it is dynamic), so I save the name of the input created in another array $_SESSION["INPUTS"] as show:
array_push($_SESSION["inputs"],$stock[$i][0]);
In the next page, I want to $REQUEST the value from the inputs. Now I have the problem, I need to call $REQUEST for the created inputs which names are saved inside $_SESSION["inputs"], I need something as:` $REQUEST["$_SESSION["inputs"]]. I try it different ways without exit.
Any idea? Any alternative?
thanks
I think the best approach is by naming the input name attribute like an array: eg: "name=stock[the product name]". This approach allows you to discard the usage of the $_SESSION["inputs"].
<input type="number" name="stock[<?php echo $stock[$i][0];?>]" min="0" max="<?php echo $stock[$i][4]; ?>" value="0" style="width:4em">
Then to read the values:
$stocks = $_REQUEST['stock'];
foreach($stocks as $productName => $quantity) {
//...
}
This works because the inputs are converted to a php array after being submitted.
You can even get the number of inputs by calling count:
echo count($_REQUEST['stock']);

Well I am Stuck some where here in Array conversion:
My Controller:
$username = $this->input->post('FirstName');
$countryval= $this->input->post('country');
var_dump($countryval);
My View:
<input type="text" name="FirstName" id="Name" >
<?php
foreach ($countryDetails as $row )
{
echo '<input id="country" type="checkbox" name="country[]" class="unique" value="'.$row->country_id.'">'.$row->country_name.'<br/>';
}
?>
<script>
$('input.unique').click(function() {
$('input.unique:checked').not(this).removeAttr('checked');
});
</script>
I am getting the value from checkbox in an array and I need to pass that value as a string further.
I am not able to convert value from array to string i.e if I var_dump($countryval) I get value in array ! Please Help. Thank you
That is because you have used "country[]" as the name in input field
Please try this incase you need a single value to be returned (Edit made here coz I put type="checkbox" instead of "radio".. I have corrected it) Trust radios for single values.
echo '<input id="country" type="radio" name="country" class="unique" value="'.$row->country_id.'">'.$row->country_name.'<br/>';
hope that helps
You need "country[ ]" as name only if it has multiple values. Eg., For a multiple select
<select name="country[]" multiple>
<option></option> <!-- Your options go here-->
</select>
You can use input-checkbox too.. But with your question, I believe you need just a single value to be returned.
Ok.. Now From Your comments I kind of get what you want. Here is my suggestion
1) When you are having multiple checkboxes with the same name, the values are sent as an array.
2) If you would need a single value at a time and definitely need a checkbox, You can make a radio look like a checkbox like this.
3) If you really want to proceed with your javascript allowing only one checkbox at a time, you can do this.
// Load the 'array' helper
$this->load->helper('array');
// Use the 'element' function to return an element from the array
$countryval = element('0', $this->input->post('country')); //should work
Have a try..!!
I am trying to multiply to fields together to obtain a total in PHP form.
<label for="190_mnth2"></label>
<div align="center">
<input name="190_mnth" type="text" id="190_mnth2" value="10" size="5" />
</div></td>
<td><div align="center">
<label for="190_rate"></label>
<input name="190_rate" type="text" id="190_rate" value="190.00" size="10" />
</div></td>
<td><div align="center">
<input name="total_190" type="text" id="total_190" value=<? echo '190_mnth2' * '190_rate' ?> size="10" />
The above is my current code but the answer is totally wrong it gives me 36100 What is wrong with my formula if anyone can assist?
First of all you cannot calculate the total like that, it's not Javascript, you need a form with a get/post request which will send a request to the server, server will process and throw the calculated value back to the user.. so wrap the fields around forms, set your method to post(preferred) and than you can write your PHP code like
<?php
if(isset($_POST['submit_button_name'])) { //Use $_GET if it's a GET request
//Save the values in variable
$mnth_190 = $_POST['190_mnth'];
$rate_190 = $_POST['190_rate'];
//Calculate here
$total = $mnth_190 * $rate_190;
/* Now you can use $total either to echo straight in your page,
or inside another input field */
}
?>
Also make sure you validate the data before the form is posted and is calculated, check whether the user input doesn't have string or any other special character.
The purpose of PHP is to generate HTML to display, not to update the HTML of the current page. You can create a POST request that submits your data for display on another page. If you want to dynamically update the total on the current page, you should use Javascript or another front end language.
<? echo '190_mnth2' * '190_rate' ?>
You're attempting to multiply two strings, which will probably be converted by PHP as 190 * 190.
In order to get this to work, you're going to have to do it in two separate steps (with PHP anyway). Because PHP is a server side language, you'll have to $_POST[''], or submit these two values as part of the query string and use $_GET[''] to calculate.
If you don't want to do it this way, then I'd suggest looking at some JavaScript to handle it instead.
I'm going to take a shot at doing something like this, as an example.
$190_mnth2 = 10;
$190_rate = 190;
$total = $190_mnth2 * $190_rate;
then using: value=<? echo '$total'; ?>
Hi lets say I'm showing a numeric value in an element (not sure what element to use), what i want to achieve is once the numeric value is clicked (Thinking of onclick="this.form.submit();" or submit button) it will submit different designated value from the numeric value let us say. Apple then my sql query would retrieve apple and use it. NOTE: I have multiple numeric values and multiple designated values for each numeric value as an example it looks like this:
(numeric value) = (designated value)
15123 = apple
24151 = orange
39134 = peach
Here so far is what i have.
<input type='submit' name='searchthem' placeholder='<?php echo $numeric_value; ?>'
value='apple'>
** NOTE i have multiple numeric values with different designated value
And this is the SQL in the same page:
SELECT * from tbl_fruits where fruit_name='".$_POST['searchthem']."' ;
Would appreciate some help and ideas, If there is confusion please comment so i may further clarify.
Use select element and just submit the form so that it can process the values. if you wish to use AJAX, use some javascript and output the result in the browser.
If I understand your problem correctly you should add an array for the definition terms and do it like this:
<input type="hidden" name="searchterm" value="<?php echo $numeric_value; ?>" />
<input type='submit' name='send' value="<?php echo $names[$numeric_value]; ?>" />
Then in PHP switch through the values:
switch($_POST['searchterm']){
case(15123) $term = 'apple';break;
case(24151) $term = 'ornage';break;
case(39134) $term = 'peach';break;
}
This will secure your SQL query, too. [Beware: Never use unfiltered input (i.e. $_POST in your example) from the browser in SQL queries!]
I am building an application which has a dynamic table, everytime you open the page table`s row and columns changes based on data in database.
Each Row is a vendor company each colomn is a Item Title. All these vendors upply the same item, So this table has a textbox in each contains a TextBox so user can type the value, which represents the amount of fruit they want from that supplier. the following is the example.
So what I need to do now is, after entering these values, I'd like to process them through PHP, and then see 4 different reports at the confirm page, example: write the Company name and under that, what they have to supply for each item, then the next company, so on and so forth to the end.
I don't know if i should create different class for each textbox? or ID them!! SHould I Array them? I am confused.. If any of you guys can help, would be wonderful
Thanks a lot
I would suggest you just name the input elements as an array. something like:
<input type="text" name="fruits[company1][apple]">
<input type="text" name="fruits[company1][berries]">
<input type="text" name="fruits[company1][orange]">
<input type="text" name="fruits[company1][bannana]">
<input type="text" name="fruits[company2][apple]">
<input type="text" name="fruits[company2][berries]">
<input type="text" name="fruits[company2][orange]">
<input type="text" name="fruits[company2][bannana]">
or the same thing with the fruit being the first level and company name being second. It is really the same thing and generally just as easy to use either one. Just depends on how you want to loop over the data once you post the form. You might be better off also using ids for the company name and/or the fruit. Just makes it so, for example, company names with a space are still valid.
Using the above form, you can process the data with something like this:
<?php
foreach($_POST['fruits'] as $company=>$row){
foreach($row as $fruit=>$quantity){
if(!is_numeric($quantity) || $quantity < 0){
$quantity = 0;
}
echo "You selected {$quantity} {$fruit} from {$company}";
}
}
I would try creating a multi dim array with the ID of the item as the first dimension. Like this:
<input type="textbox" name="textbox[<?php echo $row['item_id']; ?>]["apple"]" value="<?php echo $row['apple']; ?>" />
Then, in your processing script:
foreach ($_POST['textbox'] as $row)
{
foreach ($row as $key => $val)
{
$q = "update `items` set `apple` = {$val['apple']} where `item_id` = {$key}";
mysql_query($q);
}
}
what would be the easiset way to autofill this field??
<input type="text" name="start_price" value="<?=$item_details['start_price'];?>" size="8"></td>
i need to keep the $item_details because it gets passed to some other code, but in some cases i want to autofill this as 0.00 to make it easier for me as i will be using 0.00 to list some auctions
i am editing a template that is being used by php to generate some code, so ideally i just want to make some changes to the templates without having to dive into the code itself
Something like this sounds like it might solve your problem:
<?php
// Whatever logic determines a "special case" stores a boolean value
// into the variable $special_case
$input_value = !$special_case ? $item_details['start_price'] : '0.00';
?>
<input type="text" name="start_price" value="<?php echo $input_value; ?>" size="8">
