I am trying to return the images for each row in my database through the controller
public function getEmotions() {
$emotionsList = Emotions::all();
$images = DB::table('emotions')->select('image')->get();
return $images;
}
This returns the error Malformed UTF-8 characters, possibly incorrectly encoded
I have tried this as a solution
public function getEmotions() {
$emotionsList = Emotions::all();
$images = DB::table('emotions')->select('image')->get();
return utf8_encode($images);
}
But this then returns the error Method Illuminate\Support\Collection::__toString() must return a string value
I'm a but stuck with it now, can anyone see where I'm going wrong?
This data is also being passed to a Vue file where I want to display the images from. Could I add this as {{ emotion.image }}?
<label v-for="emotion in emotions" class="cb-container">{{ emotion.em_name }}
<input name="emotions[]" type="checkbox" :value="emotion.id">
<span class="checkmark"></span>
</label>
$images = DB::table('emotions')->select('image')->get();
The get() method provided by Laravel return an instance of Illuminate\Support\Collection class.
By definition an
Illuminate\Support\Collection class provides a fluent, convenient
wrapper for working with arrays of data.
Documentation
The point is: you need to loop through your $images var and utf8_encode each row separately like
foreach($images as $image) {
...
}
Edit
You may use
public function getEmotions() {
$emotionsList = Emotions::all();
foreach($emotionsList as $emotion) {
$emotion->image = 'data:image/jpeg;base64,' . base64_encode( $emotion->image);
}
return $emotionsList;
}
Usage
... v-for="emotion in emotions" ...
<img src="$emotion->image"/>
You must return a response:
return response($images->toArray());
Or if you want it encoded in json:
return response()->json($images);

i have a problem that when i get data from other api and want if same title wont save to api. Each time getting data from the api is 20 and want to save it to the database without duplicate. Please help me. Thank you very much!!!
public function getTitle($title){
$title = $this->posts->where('title', $title)->get();
return $title;
}
public function getApi(Request $request){
$url = "https://newsapi.org/v2/top-headlines?sources=techcrunch&apiKey=87384f1c2fe94e11a76b2f6ff11b337f";
$data = Http::get($url);
$item = json_decode($data->body());
$i = collect($item->articles);
$limit = $i->take(20); // take limited 5 items
$decode = json_decode($limit);
foreach($decode as $post){
$ite = (array)$post;
$hi = $this->getTitle($ite['title']);
dd($ite['title'], $hi);
if($ite['title']==$hi){
dd('not save');
}
else{
dd('save');
}
//dd($hi, $ite['title']);
// create post
$dataPost = [
'title'=>$ite['title'],
'description'=>$ite['description'],
'content'=>$ite['content'],
'topic_id'=>'1',
'post_type'=>$request->type,
'user_id'=>'1',
'enable'=>'1',
'feature_image_path'=>$ite['urlToImage']
];
//dd($dataPost);
//$this->posts->create($dataPost);
}
return redirect()->route('posts.index');
}
You can use first or create for saving data in database if title name is new. using firstOrNew you dont have to use any other conditions
for example:-
$this->posts->firstOrCreate(
['title' => $ite['title']],
['description'=>$ite['description'],
'content'=>$ite['content'],
'topic_id'=>'1',
'post_type'=>$request->type,
'user_id'=>'1',
'enable'=>'1',
'feature_image_path'=>$ite['urlToImage']]);
firstOrNew:-
It tries to find a model matching the attributes you pass in the first parameter. If a model is not found, it automatically creates and saves a new Model after applying any attributes passed in the second parameter
From docs
If any records exist that match your query's constraints, you may use
the exists and doesntExist methods
if($this->posts->where('title', $title)->doesntExist())
{
// save
} else {
// not save
}
I have situation where codeigniter shows database Error Number 1048. It seems Values NULL but when I try to check it usign var_dump($_POST) Values are not NULL.

Here is the error shown :
Here is the database structure :
You have a wrong syntax in these lines:
$key = $this->input->post('code');
$data['kd_prodi'] = $this->input->post['code']; // <-- use ('code')
$data['prodi'] = $this->input->post['jurusan']; // <-- use ('jurusan')
Change this to
$this->input->post['array_key'];
this
$this->input->post('array_key');
Read : Input Class in Codeigniter
Well the problem lies in your way of accepting input parameters.
$this->input->post
is a method which accepts the variable name, not an array. So all the input parameters need to be passed as a function parameter to post method. These lines need to be altered to.
$data['kd_prodi'] = $this->input->post('code');
$data['prodi'] = $this->input->post('jurusan');
$data['singkat'] = $this->input->post('singkatan');
$data['ketua_prodi'] = $this->input->post('ketua');
$data['nik'] = $this->input->post('nik');
$data['akreditasi'] = $this->input->post('akreditasi');
Hope this solves the problem.
EDIT:
You did a var_dump($_POST) which works as it is supposed to and it will read the values of the post parameters. So either you fetch the parameters from $_POST array, or you use the $this->input->post() method. But I would suggest using the $this->input->post() method as it provides additional sanitization such as xss attack handling etc, which could be turned on an off from the config.
i have tried your code...it works. I think there some mistakes in your <input> tags, You must use <input name=""> not <input id=""> or something else. Hope it can help you out
You are try to get value from post is wrong. You should use at this way
$_POST['array value'];
I can't put real code here because is very long and will be hard to
explain.
I have users table in database and I have data table in database too.
So, to get the user data I'll pass user_id as parameter. Like this:
public function get_user_data($user_id) {
}
But. I can only get 1 data per "request". (Keep reading)
public function user_data() {
$getUsers = $this->db->get('users');
foreach($getUsers->result_array() as $user)
{
$data = $this->get_user_data($user->ID);
var_dump($data); // Only return 1 data;
}
}
But, I guess that have an way to "bypass" this but I don't know. I'm having trouble thinking.
As I said, I want to "bypass" this, and be able to send multiple user IDs, my real function do not accept that by default and can't be changed.
Thanks in advance!
replace
foreach($getUsers->result_array() as $user)
{
$data = $this->get_user_data($user->ID);
var_dump($data); // Only return 1 data;
}
to this
foreach($getUsers->result_array() as $user)
{
$data[] = $this->get_user_data($user->ID);
}
var_dump($data);
If you are aiming at sending more data to the function, you always need to make signature change of your function as one of the below :
function get_user_data() {
$args = func_get_args();
/** now you can access these as $args[0], $args[1] **/
}
Or
function get_user_data(...$user_ids) {
/** now you can access these as $user_ids[0], $user_ids[1] **/
}
// Only higher version of PHP
But I am not sure how you will handle returning data.
EDIT: Yes, then in the function, you can collect data in array and return an array of data from function.
If you can change in your function from where to where_in I think you will get an easy solution.
public function get_user_data($user_ids)
{
// your db code
$this->db->where_in('ID',$user_ids); //replace where with where_in
}
public function user_data()
{
$getUsers = $this->db->get('users');
foreach($getUsers->result_array() as $user)
{
$user_ids[] = $user->ID;
}
$this->get_user_data($user_ids);
}
I am writing a program that basically does stuff with a database, I am having trouble with some of the functionality though, this is what it is supposed to do
public function clist() {
$this->load->model('list_model');
$fields = $this->list_model->listcli();
if ($fields === $this->list_model->listcli()) {
$fieldl = $fields;
$this->load->view('clientlist');
$this->clientlist->display_clients($fieldl);
}
}
This loads the model which looks like this:
public function listcli()
{
$this->db->list_fields('clients');
}
}
Then runs the model function listcli so that it will list all the fields in the clients database and puts the value into $fields I then call it fieldl and load a view that will show the data, the view looks like this:
<html>
<body>
<p> sup </p>
<?php
function display_clients($fieldl)
{
?>
<html>
<body>
<p> sup2 </p>
<ul>
<?php
foreach ($fieldl as $l) {
?>
<li>
<?php echo $l;?>
</li>
<?php
}
}
Then calls the function inside the view and passed the data from $fieldl into it.
but I am getting the error " Call to a member function display_clients() on a non-object in /codeigniter/src/application/controllers/clientlist.php on line 40"
line 40 is
$this->clientlist->display_clients($fieldl);
Can you help? Please and thank you.
(I know this kind of question has been asked before but they are always very specific to the code at hand so doesn't help me, I am really new to CodeIgniter so if you can keep any answer relatively simple I will be grateful).
I needed to use the second parameter possible to pass my data over into the view, not my own makeshift solution for it, CI accepts an object as a second parameter for the CI_Loader::view()
Why can't you prepare the list in the controller and pass it to view via $data array?
$my_list = '<ul>';
foreach ($fieldl as $l) {
$my_list .= '<li>'.$l.'</li>';
}
$my_list .= '</ul>';
$data['my_list'] = $my_list;
then you can access it in view as $my_list. Just echo it where you need it.
EDIT:
AS per your own answer, yes - exactly. Using example above you would pass the $data to view as the second parameter:
$this->load->view('my_view',$data);
Then in the View, you access $data['my_list'] as $my_list, $data['foo'] as $foo etc.
I have a form that contains a list of settings, all with their own IDs, shown via simple foreach loop. When the user clicks the update button, I want to be able to update all of the values using Anahkiasen/Former. However, I can't seem to find the documentation on how to submit more than one set of records.
For instance, if I was opening the form to edit just one setting instead of all of them, I would just do the following:
{{ Former::open()->method('PUT')->action(URL::to('settings/' . $setting['id'])) }}
This would send it to my 'update' resource method and the following code would take care of the update:
public function update($id)
{
$setting = Setting::findOrFail($id);
if ($setting->save()) {
return Redirect::back()->with('message', "Setting #$id updated!");
} else {
return Redirect::back()->withInput()->withErrors($setting->errors());
}
}
Is it possible to do this with multiple records at once and still use the convenient $autoHydrateEntityFromInput and $forceEntityHydrationFromInput features?
I'm using Laravel 4.1 and Former 3.4.2.
This had to be done by just putting the values into an array and forcing the existing value in the Blade template:
#foreach ($settings as $s)
<div class="row">
{{ Former::text('values[' . $s['id'] . ']', $s['name'])->forceValue($s['value']) }}
</div>
#endforeach
Then retrieve the values in the controller:
public function update()
{
$values = Input::get('values');
foreach ($values as $id => $val) {
$setting = Setting::findOrFail($id);
$setting['value'] = $val;
if (!$setting->save()) {
return Redirect::back()->withInput()->withErrors($setting->errors());
}
}
return Redirect::back()->with('message', "Settings updated!");
}
Doing it this way, a standard resource won't work like Route::resource('settings', 'SettingsController'); so instead I had to simply do Route::post('settings/update', 'SettingsController#update');
As far as I can tell, auto hydration also won't work in this case.
