Is there a way to zip and download files and folders which are in Amazon S3 bucket, together in Laravel? I Want to zip the three folders and one file in the picture together and download it
Here's a half baked solution in a route file. Hope it helps.
https://flysystem.thephpleague.com/docs/adapter/zip-archive/
composer require league/flysystem-ziparchive
I put this in routes/web.php just to play with.
<?php
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\Storage;
use League\Flysystem\Filesystem;
use League\Flysystem\ZipArchive\ZipArchiveAdapter;
Route::get('zip', function(){
// see laravel's config/filesystem.php for the source disk
$source_disk = 's3';
$source_path = '';
$file_names = Storage::disk($source_disk)->files($source_path);
$zip = new Filesystem(new ZipArchiveAdapter(public_path('archive.zip')));
foreach($file_names as $file_name){
$file_content = Storage::disk($source_disk)->get($file_name);
$zip->put($file_name, $file_content);
}
$zip->getAdapter()->getArchive()->close();
return redirect('archive.zip');
});
You'll definitely want to do something different than just plopping it in the public dir. Maybe stream it out straight out as a download or save it somewhere better. Feel free to post comment/questions and we can discuss.
I did it the following way after looking at some solutions by streaming the zip directly to the client by using https://github.com/maennchen/ZipStream-PHP :
if ($uploads) {
return response()->streamDownload(function() use ($uploads) {
$opt = new ArchiveOptions();
$opt->setContentType('application/octet-stream');
$zip = new ZipStream("uploads.zip", $opt);
foreach ($uploads as $upload) {
try {
$file = Storage::readStream($upload->path);
$zip->addFileFromStream($upload->filename, $file);
}
catch (Exception $e) {
\Log::error("unable to read the file at storage path: $upload->path and output to zip stream. Exception is " . $e->getMessage());
}
}
$zip->finish();
}, 'uploads.zip');
}
I am studying some laravel code that I downloaded and I am getting some problem.
This supposed to be the functions to save,delete and download the files but the problem is.
The files are being saved in a folder named with a number on "storage\app\public\project-files\" (i.e. storage\app\public\project-files\11), both destroy and download methods are referencing different paths, I tried to change but didn't worked, download show FileNotFoundException and destroy just remove from the database but not from the folder
So is this code wrong? How It supposed to be?
I've read about using artisan:link but seems odd to me run this command every time I want upload a file to make a link
PS. I cheched the routes, so the methods are being called
Thanks
public function store(Request $request)
{
if ($request->hasFile('file')) {
$file = new ProjectFile();
$file->user_id = $this->user->id;
$file->project_id = $request->project_id;
$request->file->store('public/project-files/'.$request->project_id);
$file->filename = $request->file->getClientOriginalName();
$file->hashname = $request->file->hashName();
$file->size = $request->file->getSize();
$file->save();
$this->project = Project::find($request->project_id);
return view('project-files');
}
public function destroy($id)
{
$file = ProjectFile::find($id);
File::delete('storage/project-files/'.$file->project_id.'/'.$file->hashname);
ProjectFile::destroy($id);
$this->project = Project::find($file->project_id);
return view('project-files');
}
public function download($id) {
$file = ProjectFile::find($id);
return response()->download('storage/project-files/'.$file->project_id.'/'.$file->hashname);
}
You are storing files in storage so i assume you have uploaded image in the following path
project\storage\app\public\project-files
if this is the path then you can delete using
Storage::delete('public/project-files/1.JPG');
for Downlaoding file
$path= storage_path('app/public/project-files/3.JPG');
return response()->download($path);
I'm currently making a PHP script and I need some help. Firstly it allows the user to enter database information on a file called install.html which presents a form to the user. The form uses GET to then send that information to a second install file which creates the relevant tables, enters the information into the tables and then allows the user to carry on with the script.
However I was wondering. In the second install file I used:
$databaseServer = $_GET["databaseServer"];
in order to get the information that was entered into the form. Is there anyway I can then send these variables ($databaseServer, $databaseName, $databaseUser, $databasePassword) to another file called db.php that I will include on top of every file I write that requires an SQL connection. I have looked at GLOBAL variables but they didn't work properly. I could have been doing something wrong however.
You could save a configuration array to a file:
<?php
class Config
{
public $path;
public function __construct($path)
{
$this->path = $path;
}
public function store($config)
{
$dump = var_export($config, true);
$dump = '<?php return ' . $dump . ';';
file_put_contents($this->path, $dump);
}
public function retrieve()
{
return include $this->path;
}
}
// Build your config array
$config['database'] = $_GET['database'];
$config['username'] = $_GET['username'];
// Make sure your server can write to this path
$configurator = new Config(__DIR__ . '/config/config.php');
// Save your config
$configurator->store($config);
// Get your config later
$read_config = $configurator->retrieve();
// Check our config against the saved version
assert($config == $read_config);
var_dump($read_config);
I am trying to read a file inside CodeIgniter framework, it means in controller, My code is given below, But this doesn't work, I am a bit newbie here, can you guys guide me how to read file inside the controller?
$fp = fopen("id_rsa.pem", "r");
$priv_key = fread($fp, 8192);
fclose($fp);
if you have set base_url in config.php
you can load a file like this in your controller
public function load_file()
{
// you need to load the url helper to call base_url()
$this->load->helper("url");
// you can change the location of your file wherever you want
$MyFile = file_get_contents(base_url()."application/controllers/readme.txt");
var_dump($MyFile);
//etc...
}
example with json file using google api
public function load_file_via_api()
{
$json = file_get_contents('https://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/videos?key=AIzaSyBdiYy5i2sI5HSkLYy54xoYIXn0M8OgGoA&id=DniEWhn7fvA&part=snippet&fields=items(snippet(title))');
$obj = json_decode($json);
print '<pre>' . print_r($obj) . '</pre>';
}
read more about file_get_contents here http://php.net/manual/en/function.file-get-contents.php
hope that helps
You can try this script.. and also load the helper library
$this->load->helper('file');
$image_path = '/path/to/image/file';
$this->output->set_content_type(get_mime_by_extension($image_path));
$this->output->set_output(file_get_contents($image_path));
$fp=file_get_contents(APPPATH . 'controllers/id_rsa.pem');
You can see the content by running the function below
var_dump($fp);
I have uploaded a lot of images from the website, and need to organize files in a better way.
Therefore, I decide to create a folder by months.
$month = date('Yd')
file_put_contents("upload/promotions/".$month."/".$image, $contents_data);
after I tried this one, I get error result.
Message: file_put_contents(upload/promotions/201211/ang232.png): failed to open stream: No such file or directory
If I tried to put only file in exist folder, it worked. However, it failed to create a new folder.
Is there a way to solve this problem?
file_put_contents() does not create the directory structure. Only the file.
You will need to add logic to your script to test if the month directory exists. If not, use mkdir() first.
if (!is_dir('upload/promotions/' . $month)) {
// dir doesn't exist, make it
mkdir('upload/promotions/' . $month);
}
file_put_contents('upload/promotions/' . $month . '/' . $image, $contents_data);
Update: mkdir() accepts a third parameter of $recursive which will create any missing directory structure. Might be useful if you need to create multiple directories.
Example with recursive and directory permissions set to 777:
mkdir('upload/promotions/' . $month, 0777, true);
modification of above answer to make it a bit more generic, (automatically detects and creates folder from arbitrary filename on system slashes)
ps previous answer is awesome
/**
* create file with content, and create folder structure if doesn't exist
* #param String $filepath
* #param String $message
*/
function forceFilePutContents ($filepath, $message){
try {
$isInFolder = preg_match("/^(.*)\/([^\/]+)$/", $filepath, $filepathMatches);
if($isInFolder) {
$folderName = $filepathMatches[1];
$fileName = $filepathMatches[2];
if (!is_dir($folderName)) {
mkdir($folderName, 0777, true);
}
}
file_put_contents($filepath, $message);
} catch (Exception $e) {
echo "ERR: error writing '$message' to '$filepath', ". $e->getMessage();
}
}
i have Been Working on the laravel Project With the Crud Generator and this Method is not Working
#aqm so i have created my own function
PHP Way
function forceFilePutContents (string $fullPathWithFileName, string $fileContents)
{
$exploded = explode(DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR,$fullPathWithFileName);
array_pop($exploded);
$directoryPathOnly = implode(DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR,$exploded);
if (!file_exists($directoryPathOnly))
{
mkdir($directoryPathOnly,0775,true);
}
file_put_contents($fullPathWithFileName, $fileContents);
}
LARAVEL WAY
Don't forget to add at top of the file
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\File;
function forceFilePutContents (string $fullPathWithFileName, string $fileContents)
{
$exploded = explode(DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR,$fullPathWithFileName);
array_pop($exploded);
$directoryPathOnly = implode(DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR,$exploded);
if (!File::exists($directoryPathOnly))
{
File::makeDirectory($directoryPathOnly,0775,true,false);
}
File::put($fullPathWithFileName,$fileContents);
}
I created an simpler answer from #Manojkiran.A and #Savageman. This function can be used as drop-in replacement for file_put_contents. It doesn't support context parameter but I think should be enough for most cases. I hope this helps some people. Happy coding! :)
function force_file_put_contents (string $pathWithFileName, mixed $data, int $flags = 0) {
$dirPathOnly = dirname($pathWithFileName);
if (!file_exists($dirPathOnly)) {
mkdir($dirPathOnly, 0775, true); // folder permission 0775
}
file_put_contents($pathWithFileName, $data, $flags);
}
Easy Laravel solution:
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\File;
// If the directory does not exist, it will be create
// Works recursively, with unlimited number of subdirectories
File::ensureDirectoryExists('my/super/directory');
// Write file content
File::put('my/super/directory/my-file.txt', 'this is file content');
I wrote a function you might like. It is called forceDir(). It basicaly checks whether the dir you want exists. If so, it does nothing. If not, it will create the directory. A reason to use this function, instead of just mkdir, is that this function can create nexted folders as well.. For example ('upload/promotions/januari/firstHalfOfTheMonth'). Just add the path to the desired dir_path.
function forceDir($dir){
if(!is_dir($dir)){
$dir_p = explode('/',$dir);
for($a = 1 ; $a <= count($dir_p) ; $a++){
#mkdir(implode('/',array_slice($dir_p,0,$a)));
}
}
}
