php ftp_put not working for one directory - php

I am using php ftp_connect() and ftp_put() to upload a file from the webserver to an external server.
The code works great when uploading to one directory (in this case /global/1/) but doesn't work when I upload to another one (in this case /{FCADC481-CACAA556A47A}/_schedules/). Therefore I don't think the issue is the code.
The file I am trying to upload is an XML, but I've also tried with .mov and .avi
I have tried both FTP_ASCII and FTP_BINARY
I have tried with and without ftp_pasv
Both directories and sub directories have the same file access attributes (666)
I can upload to both of these folders using Filezilla directly
The error coming back is:
"Core: Error handler (BE): PHP Warning: ftp_put(): Connection closed; Stream-Lesefehler."
$response = false;
$local_file = "/test.xml";
$remote_path = "/{".$pov."}/_schedules/"; // NOTE { and } ARE part of the folder name.
$remote_file = $remote_path . "test.xml";
if($ftp_conn = ftp_connect($this->ftphost, $this->ftpport,15)){
if (ftp_login($ftp_conn, $this->ftpusr, $this->ftppss)) {
ftp_pasv($ftp_conn, true);
if (ftp_put($ftp_conn, $remote_file, $local_file, FTP_ASCII)) {
$response = true;
}
}
}
ftp_close($ftp_conn);
return $response;
The only thing I can think is that ftp via PHP doesn't like folders with a "{" symbol. But I have no control over that server, so I have to use it.
I know { can be used in PHP to dechiper a variable value within a string so I tried swapping the symbol for another one and then str_replacing it again afterwards, but it didn'T solve the problem.
Can anybody help?

permission denied when i try to unlink an image in the folder using php [duplicate]

I make a site and it has this feature to upload a file and that file is uploaded to a server
Im just a newbie to php I download xampp and I run this site that i made in my local machine.
My site is like this you upload a file then that file will be uploaded to a server, but when i tried unlink() because when i try to remove the filename to a database I also want to remove that pic on the server, but instead I got an error and it says "Permission denied".
question:
How can I got permission to use unlink();?
I only run this on my localmachine using xampp
Permission denied error happens because you're trying to delete a file without having enough/right permissions for doing that.
To do this you must be using superuser account or be the same user that have uploaded the file.
You can go to the directory from your command line and check the permissions that are set to the file.
The easiest solution is to loggin as administrator/root and delete the file.
Here is another work around:
// define if we under Windows
$tmp = dirname(__FILE__);
if (strpos($tmp, '/', 0)!==false) {
define('WINDOWS_SERVER', false);
} else {
define('WINDOWS_SERVER', true);
}
$deleteError = 0;
if (!WINDOWS_SERVER) {
if (!unlink($fileName)) {
$deleteError = 1;
}
} else {
$lines = array();
exec("DEL /F/Q \"$fileName\"", $lines, $deleteError);
}
if ($deleteError) {
echo 'file delete error';
}
And some more: PHP Manual, unlink(), Post 106952
I would recommend, always first to check PHP Manual (in case your question concerns PHP), just go to the page with function that you have problems with and just click search CTRL+F in your browser and enter, for example, Windows, and as a result, in your case, you would find at least 7 related posts to that or very close to that what you were looking for.

How to use Unlink() function
I found this information in the comments of the function unlink()
Under Windows System and Apache, denied access to file is an usual error to unlink file. To delete file you must to change file's owern. An example:
<?php
chown($TempDirectory."/".$FileName,666); //Insert an Invalid UserId to set to Nobody Owern; 666 is my standard for "Nobody"
unlink($TempDirectory."/".$FileName);
?>
So try something like this:
$Path = './doc/stuffs/sample.docx';
chown($Path, 666);
if ( unlink($Path) )
echo "success";
else
echo "fail";
EDIT 1
Try to use this in the path:
$Path = '.'.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.'doc'.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.'stuffs'.DIRECTORY_SEPARATOR.'sample.docx';

Laravel Filesystem - Move file from one disk to another

I am trying to move files from my FTP server to a local directory. First I need to find the correct file from the FTP server, as there can be a few hundreds:
//Search for the file.
$fileName= array_filter(Storage::disk('ftp')->files(), function ($file)
{
return preg_match('/('.date("Y-m-d" ,time()).').*.XLSX/', $file);
});
Above finds the correct file. If I dd($fileName), I get this:
My File Name.XLSX
I then try to move that file, to my public disk:
$ftp_file = Storage::disk('ftp')->get($fileName);
$local_file = Storage::disk('public')->move($ftp_file, "moved_file.xlsx");
However above code doesn't work. I get below error:
preg_match() expects parameter 2 to be string, array given
Which I have identified being on below function:
$ftp_file = Storage::disk('ftp')->get($fileName);
What am I doing wrong? How can I move the file, which I am able to find on my FTP server, to my local disk?
Thank you in advance.
As #Loek pointed out, $fileName was an array, and therefore to access it I needed to use:
$ftp_file = Storage::disk('ftp')->get($fileName[0]);

"No such file or directory" on localhost copy

EDIT: I'm pretty sure the issue has to do with the firewall, which I can't access. Marking Canis' answer as correct and I will figure something else out, possibly wget or just manually scraping the files and hoping no major updates are needed.
EDIT: Here's the latest version of the builder and here's the output. The build directory has the proper structure and most of the files, but only their name and extension - no data inside them.
I am coding a php script that searches the local directory for files, then scrapes my localhost (xampp) for the same files to copy into a build folder (the goal is to build php on the localhost and then put it on a server as html).
Unfortunately I am getting the error: Warning: copy(https:\\localhost\intranet\builder.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\htdocs\intranet\builder.php on line 73.
That's one example - every file in the local directory is spitting the same error back. The source addresses are correct (I can get to the file on localhost from the address in the error log) and the local directory is properly constructed - just moving the files into it doesn't work. The full code is here, the most relevant section is:
// output build files
foreach($paths as $path)
{
echo "<br>";
$path = str_replace($localroot, "", $path);
$source = $hosted . $path;
$dest = $localbuild . $path;
if (is_dir_path($dest))
{
mkdir($dest, 0755, true);
echo "Make folder $source at $dest. <br>";
}
else
{
copy($source, $dest);
echo "Copy $source to $dest. <br>";
}
}
You are trying to use URLs to travers local filesystem directories. URLs are only for webserver to understand web requests.
You will have more luck if you change this:
copy(https:\\localhost\intranet\builder.php)
to this:
copy(C:\xampp\htdocs\intranet\builder.php)
EDIT
Based on your additional info in the comments I understand that you need to generate static HTML-files for hosting on a static only webserver. This is not an issue of copying files really. It's accessing the HMTL that the script generates when run through a webserver.
You can do this in a few different ways actually. I'm not sure exactly how the generator script works, but it seems like that script is trying to copy the supposed output from loads of PHP-files.
To get the generated content from a PHP-file you can either use the command line php command to execute the script like so c:\some\path>php some_php_file.php > my_html_file.html, or use the power of the webserver to do it for you:
<?php
$hosted = "https://localhost/intranet/"; <--- UPDATED
foreach($paths as $path)
{
echo "<br>";
$path = str_replace($localroot, "", $path);
$path = str_replace("\\","/",$path); <--- ADDED
$source = $hosted . $path;
$dest = $localbuild . $path;
if (is_dir_path($dest))
{
mkdir($dest, 0755, true);
echo "Make folder $source at $dest. <br>";
}
else
{
$content = file_get_contents(urlencode($source));
file_put_contents(str_replace(".php", ".html", $dest), $content);
echo "Copy $source to $dest. <br>";
}
}
In the code above I use file_get_contents() to read the html from the URL you are using https://..., which in this case, unlike with copy(), will call up the webserver, triggering the PHP engine to produce the output.
Then I write the pure HTML to a file in the $dest folder, replacing the .php with .htmlin the filename.
EDIT
Added and revised the code a bit above.

String to Zipped Stream in php

I have a processing server with my database and a serving database to serve up files with a low bandwidth cost. On the processing server, php is not able to create files so everything must be done with streams and/or stay in memory before being sent over to another server for download. A few days ago I found out about the stream abstraction with 'php://memory' and that I can do something like
$fp=fopen('php://memory','w+');
fwrite($fp,"Hello world");
fseek($fp,0,SEEK_SET);
//make a ftp connection here with $conn_id
$upload = ftp_fput($conn_id,"targetpath/helloworld.txt",$fp,FTP_BINARY);
to make the file in memory and then allow me to ftp it over to my other server. This is exactly what I want, except I also want to zip the data before sending it -- preferably using only native parts of php like ziparchive and not additional custom classes for special stream manipulation. I know that I am very close with the following...
$zip = new ZipArchive();
if($zip->open('php://memory', ZIPARCHIVE::CREATE)) {
$zip->addFromString('testtext.txt','Hello World!');
$fp = $zip->getStream('test'); if(!$fp) print "no filepointer";
//make a ftp connection here with $conn_id
$upload = ftp_fput($conn_id,"targetpath/helloworld.zip",$fp,FTP_BINARY);
} else print "couldn't open a zip like that";
The point at which this fails is the call to getStream (which always returns false although I think I am using correctly). It appears that the zip is fine making the file in 'php://memory' but for some reason getStream still fails although perhaps I don't sufficiently understand how ZipArchive makes zips...
How can I go from the string to the zipped filepointer so that I can ftp the zip over to my other server? Remember I can't make any files or else I would just make the zip file then ftp it over.
EDIT: based on skinnynerd's suggestions below I tried the following
$zip = new ZipArchive();
if($zip->open('php://memory', ZIPARCHIVE::CREATE)) {
$zip->addFromString('testtext.txt','Hello World!');
$zip->close();
$fp = fopen('php://memory','r+');
fseek($fp,0,SEEK_SET);
//connect to ftp
$upload = ftp_fput($conn_id,"upload/transfer/helloworld.zip",$fp,FTP_BINARY);
}
This does make a zip and send it over but the zip is 0 bytes large so I don't think that 'php://memory' works the way I thought... it actually fails at the close step -- the $zip->close() returns false which makes me wonder if I can open zips into 'php://memory' at all. Does anyone know what I can try along these line to get the zip?
$zip->getStream('test') is getting a stream to extract the file 'test' from the archive. Since there's no file 'test' in the archive, this fails. This is not the function you want to use.
As you said, what you want to do is send the finished archive to the ftp server. In this case, you would want to close the zip archive, and then reopen php://memory as a normal file (using fopen) to send it.
I don't know, but you may also be able to use $zip as a resource directly, without having to close and reopen the file.
And I think you can try create a stream pipe directly from ftp server
<?php
$zip = new ZipArchive();
if($zip->open('ftp://user:password#ftp.host.com/upload/transfer/helloworld.zip', ZipArchive::CREATE))
{
$zip->addFromString('testtext.txt','Hello World!');
$zip->close();
}
else
print "couldn't open zip file on remote ftp host.";
Does it have to be a Zip archive? Since you're trying to save bandwith it could be a gzip too.
<?php
$ftp_credentials = "ftp://USER:PASSWORD#HOST/helloworld.gz";
$gz = gzencode("Hello World!", 9);
$options = array('ftp' => array('overwrite' => true));
$stream_context = stream_context_create($options);
file_put_contents($ftp_credentials, $gz, 0, $stream_context);
?>

move_upload_file, return false but still working and not moving correctlly

I am sending image from android apps to server. The problem is image not moving to the correct path, but only at current directory (only in which that php script stored). I tested this codes on local server and webserver, getting same result. Any one can find out whats problems.
Local Server: XAMPP 1.7.7
My PHP Script :
<?php
$base=$_REQUEST['image'];
$Username=$_REQUEST['Username'];
$binary=base64_decode($base);
header('Content-Type: bitmap; charset=utf-8');
$file = fopen($Username.'.png', 'w');
fwrite($file, $binary);
$uploadFilename = '/htdocs/android/ProfileImage/';
$tr =move_uploaded_file($_FILES[$file]['tmp_name'], $uploadFilename);
if($tr)
echo 'true';
else
echo 'false';
echo 'Successfully Uploaded';
?>
Showing Output and Error in Local Server
Strict Standards: Resource ID#3 used as offset, casting to integer (3) in C:\xampp\htdocs\android\uploadSimage.php on line 12
Notice: Undefined offset: 3 in C:\xampp\htdocs\android\uploadSimage.php on line 12

Showing Output and Error in Webserver

move_uploaded_file() expects the second parameter to be a string representing the new path and filename of upload. Currently, you are passing only a path. I also question whether the path is correct. It must be a full path, or a relative path.
You are also using the $_FILES array incorrectly. Are you uploading the image by encoding it in base64 and passing it via the URL's query string? Or are you actually uploading it using a multipart/form-data file upload field?
If you uploaded a file belonging to the upload field called image then you would get access to the file like this:
$origname = $_FILES['image']['name']; // the name from the client device
$temppath = $_FILES['image']['tmp_name']; // the temp location on the PHP server
$error = $_FILES['image']['error']; // > 0 if there was an error
$size = $_FILES['image']['size']; // size of the file
$type = $_FILES['image']['type']; // mime type, cannot be trusted though
You would then move it like this:
// Be careful using the original file name.
// If the user uploads a file with a .php extension, they may be
// able to run PHP code on your server if they can access the upload folder
// You should either generate a random file name or remove the extension
// IF THE DESTINATION FILE EXISTS, IT WILL BE OVERWRITTEN
$newPath = '/home/yoursite/htdocs/uploads/' . $origname;
$moved = move_uploaded_file($_FILES['image']['tmp_name'], $newPath);
if ($moved) {
echo "File was moved successfully.";
} else {
echo "Failed to move file.";
}
EDIT:
If you are in fact uploading the image by encoding it in base64 and sending it over the URL, then you don't need move_uploaded_file at all; in that case you can just write the decoded contents to a file anywhere you like. Keep in mind, the length of the URL may be limited so sending the image in the URL via base64 may not be a good idea.
EDIT 2:
To comment on the questions in your subsequent answer: The php function move_uploaded_file() should only be used when the file you are trying to move was uploaded to PHP using an HTTP POST method upload. It does an internal check to see if the file you are trying to move was uploaded to PHP. If it was not, then it won't move the file. Therefore you shouldn't be using move_uploaded_file() since you confirmed you were uploading the image through the URL.
Since your PHP script's path is C:\xampp\htdocs\android, this means the root path is C:\. The server root is different from your web root or document root which are both relative to your public directory. Any time you are dealing with reading/writing files in PHP, you use the full server path (relative to C:\ or /).
Given the new facts, try some code like this to "upload" the image:
<?php
$base = (isset($_REQUEST['image'])) ? $_REQUEST['image'] : '';
$Username = (isset($_REQUEST['Username'])) ? trim($_REQUEST['Username']) : '';
$binary = #base64_decode($base);
if (empty($Username)) {
die('no username specified');
}
if (!$binary) {
// data was not in base64 or resulted in an empty string
die('invalid image uploaded');
}
$basePath = 'C:\\xampp\\htdocs\\android\\ProfileImage\\';
$imagePath = $basePath . $Username . '.png';
$file = #fopen($imagePath, 'w+');
if (!$file) {
die('failed to open ' . $imagePath . ' for writing');
}
fwrite($file, $binary);
fclose($file);
echo 'Successfully Uploaded';
Make sure to take the necessary precautions so I can't upload an image for another user.
per to this document http://php.net/manual/en/function.move-uploaded-file.php another reason for this problem is invalid File name if your file Name in
move_uploaded_file ( string $filename , string $destination ) be invalid
this function return false
I accessed my server using file zilla and give write Group permissions to the target folder and then it worked.
If you're using XAMPP:
sudo chmod 777 -R /opt/lampp/htdocs/
