How to enable InteliSense for Phalcon in VS Code? - php

I'm using XAMPP with PHP 7.3 with Phalcon 3.4 extension in Windows 10.
I've been having issues on getting code suggestion, or even errors because VS Code can't seem to find Phalcon files.
I've been seeing PhpStorm tutorials and then just including Phalcon Dev Tool in the include path.
Extra Notes: I am using Inteliphense, but I'm willing to use Intelisense from Felix Becker
Do VS Code have this? How do I fix this issue?

You can also install the following package or VSCode :
composer require phalcon/ide-stubs --dev

If you use PHP IntelliSense from Felix Becker - you need to add all the Phalcon Stubs to language server stubs cache inside felixbecker/intellisense plugin. Or, you can use your own language server, but it not easy way to have autocompletion into VSCode...

How to downgrade the php version to 5.6 from 7.0 in a symfony project?

I'm working in a project with Symfony Framework, but i have problems with php 7.0. Can I downgrade the php version or I need rewrite the entire application?
Symfony 3 requires at least PHP 5.5.9, so generally speaking, you can downgrade if you want. Of course you might have other limitations, like additional bundles and libraries you have installed and you might have used PHP 7 features inside your own code.
If you want to downgrade you can run:
composer why-not php:5.6
This will tell you which libraries you installed will not work with PHP 5.6. You might be able to downgrade them, but obviously this is not guaranteed and might require changes to how you use those bundles and libraries. For this you will have to check their upgrade guides and "undo" those changes.
For checking your own code you can use tools like etsy's phan to check for compatibility with a specific target version of php: https://github.com/phan/phan#usage

Identifying PHP unused and undefied variables sublime

I am using sublimetext3 unregistered . I want to know how can I configure sublime to show unused and undefined variables in php .sublimelinter-phplint does some useful work but it cannot recognise autoloaded classes that can be very irritating while development .I am looking for some package that can do it with file scope.
I have following packages already installed
sublimelinter
phpcs
3.sublime-phpcs
Is there anyother package that can be userful in developement ?
http://phpmd.org will show unused code. there is a SublimeLinter-phpmd extension as well. Just install both SublimeLinter and this extension, open the User preferences for SublimeLinter, and reduce the phpmd rulesets to just "rulesets": "unusedcode" to avoid over reporting on conventions and such you might not use.
SublimeLinter works quite well but for php I use an extension :
https://github.com/SublimeLinter/SublimeLinter-php
You need SublimeLinter 3 for this : http://sublimelinter.readthedocs.org/en/latest/installation.html
Which i see you already have! ^^
Appart from that.. Another IDE ? ^^
A Note about another editor which has a LOT of tools.. ATOM

How to enable SSL extension for Composer?

I am trying to use the PayPal PHP SDK to make an online store, however the documentation tells me I need composer. When I try to install composer I get this error. I have no idea what this means, or how to fix it. What can I do to fix this? I
P.S. There are quite a few questions about this on SO, however, all of them that I have seen ask about using WAMP or something similar. I have no intention of using WAMP, or anything like that. The only thing I am trying to do is install composer properly.
EDIT: I am just using the Composer installer for Windows.
You need PHP installed whether you have a full test environment running or not. If you can't run PHP from the command line Composer stuff doesn't work. With a basic install of PHP the openssl extension is included so that error would go away.
You can install PHP manually on its own, or you could just install WAMP or any of the many others. I use Zend Server myself. It just installs everything for you so that it works without needing to mess with manual installation.
Once PHP in general is installed, though, that should get rid of this error.

Upgrade PHP from version 5.2 to 5.3

I've been using PHP version 5.2 and now need to upgrade to version 5.3 (Windows/Apache). I have been using 5.2 for awhile now and have customized many things in php.ini and added some extra extensions.
How can I upgrade to version 5.3 without having to reconfigure everything? Or does upgrading require that I customize my PHP installation all over again?
Thanks, Brian
If you take a look at Upgrading to PHP 5.3 - an easy way, i think that will solve your problem, but if you're in a Linux machine that you can use apt-get the only thing that you need to do is:
$ sudo apt-get upgrade php php-* mysql-*
$ /etc/init.d/httpd restart
Regards.
The transition is not necessarily easy, but not hard also. PHP 5.3 brings some changes to the internal Zend API, so some PHP extension need to be upgraded (I had to upgrade xDebug). That means that you need to find the respective DLLs, which may not be that easy, depending on your current setup.
The config file, php.ini, is pretty much the same. You will actually have to take some things out actually (for example extension=php_pdo.dll is not needed anymore).
Just execute php -m from command line and see what errors are thrown. I have just copy-pasted the php.ini file from a 5.2 release and was done configuring 5.3 in a couple of minutes.
I mentioned xDebug a few lines above. If you use it, you should know that the line which activates xDebug is now:
zend_extension = "path\to\PHP 5.3.0\ext\php_xdebug.dll"
instead of:
zend_extension_ts = "path\to\PHP 5.3.0\ext\php_xdebug.dll"
The main thing I've run into is a mess of new E_DEPRECATED notices when doing anything from PEAR. Like the other comments, you'll want to adjust your error reporting levels appropriately.
Another thing to notice is that if you're upgrading from a package management system like macports or apt, some of the config layouts have changed and you'll have to adapt there.
Other than that, there aren't a lot of functional differences between 5.2 and 5.3.

Eclipse PDT installation

I have a project that's intended to use some PHP as well as Java and Javascript, so I installed the PDT PHP plug-in for Eclipse, using the Install New Software menu option. Now Eclipse agrees PDT is installed, but no PHP features like creating or editing PHP files are appearing anywhere. Is there something else I need to do to activate PDT? (I did restart Eclipse like it said I needed to.)
Right click on your project, Configure (it's at the bottom of the list)->Add PHP Support...
After it's done, you should see a little P symbol in the project's icon.
Just create new project using the wizard, and choose PHP one. After Eclipse will know that your project is actually based on PHP, it will show you all the features.
In case if you have existing project, just open the PHP perspective.
I've once had a similar problem. Eclipse was running with the JRE 1.4, and it seems the JRE 1.5 or later is required to run the PDT. I switched to Java 1.6 and that solved the problem.
I run into this sometimes with eclipse plugins.
Have you tried uninstalling it, removing the jar and files it from eclipse/plugins and eclipse/features, then installing it again?
If you don't feel like doing that. Try installing it in a clean eclipse instance and if it works then it's just a config issue with eclipse.
You might have not installed all of the tools too.
The solution I eventually came up with was to just install Aptana Studio, a PHP IDE based on Eclipse, whose standalone version can coexist happily with the regular Eclipse on the same machine.
In order to have PHP support in eclipse project, you need to add PHPNature to the project. It's a kind of configuration paramter of eclipse project. When you craete a new PHP project using a wizard, check the .project file in a new project directory. There is a PHPNature line. Copy this line into .project of your java project.
Another solution is to separate java and php code in a different projects, each one craeted by right wizard.
