I am trying to add contacts to Constant Contact account using V3 API. Some user data contain accent characters, when I add these it is showing as unicode characters in constant contact account.
For example
First name is GÒKÜL and last name is NÁTH. It is showing in constant contact as Gu00d2Ku00dcL and Nu00c1TH. I want to show these as original.
I think issue is in my curl function to add/update contact. Below is the code
function updateContact($access_token,$contactid,$entry){
$ch = curl_init();
$base = 'https://api.cc.email/v3/';
$url = $base . '/contacts/'.$contactid;
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
$authorization = 'Authorization: Bearer ' . $access_token;
$ct = 'Content-Type: application/json;';
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array($authorization, $ct));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, "PUT");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $entry);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPAUTH, CURLAUTH_BASIC);
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
return $result;
}
I tried $ct = 'Content-Type: application/json; charset=UTF-8'; and $result = utf8_decode(curl_exec($ch)); But not working.
I think someone can help me..
Those are not 'unicode' characters, they look a bit like Unicode Escape sequences, However, a backslash is missing. You should not be getting Gu00d2Ku00dcL, but G\u00d2K\u00dcL.
My hope is that those backslashes are actually there and something went wrong with sharing this output. If this is the case, the easiest way to parse these is to use the json_decode function.
If those backslases are really missing, then this suggests that the server you are working with is broken, and there's no easy fix for this. In that case you might want to contact who runs this server and let them know.

I've been stuck with this problem for a little while now. I am trying to use a REST API to change certain settings of a user like clear a user and set their device to inactive.
The REST calls are made in php which I am pretty new to. Most calls (get and post) are working just fine so I think I understood the basic concept of php and curl but I just can't get put requests working. The problem is that when making the REST call I get a status code 200 in return indicating that everything went fine but when I check the database nothing changed and the device is still active.
I've spent several hours researching this problem here on stackexchange (cURL PUT Request Not Working with PHP, Php Curl return 200 but not posting, PHP CURL PUT function not working) and additionally reading various tutorials.
To me my code looks fine and makes perfect sense because it is similar to many examples I found online. So please help me find my mistake.
$sn = "123456789";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "https://example.com/api/sn/".$sn);
$data = array("cmd" => "clearUser");
$headers = array(
'Accept: application/json',
'Content-Type: application/json'
);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, $headers);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$username = 'XXX';
$password = 'XXX';
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPAUTH, CURLAUTH_BASIC);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "$username:$password");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, "PUT");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS,http_build_query($data));
$output = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
So far as I can see, you have two problems in your code.
Content-Type: application/json is incorrect, I would remove it entirely.
You don't have a Content-Length header.
I suggest trying
$sn = "123456789";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "https://example.com/api/sn/".$sn);
$data = array("cmd" => "clearUser");
$httpQuery = http_build_query($data);
$headers = array(
'Accept: application/json',
'Content-Length: ' . strlen($httpQuery)
);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, $headers);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
$username = 'XXX';
$password = 'XXX';
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPAUTH, CURLAUTH_BASIC);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "$username:$password");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, "PUT");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS,$httpQuery);
$output = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
You define in the Header 'Content-Type: application/json'. Try to encode your $data to json and then transfer the jsonEncodeteData:
$dataJson = json_encode($data);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $dataJson);
perhaps this helps already.
status 200 may not be a success in the case of a PUT request. In a correct semantics (correct implementation of the server) successful PUT returns "201 Created" and, if the client sends empty or somehow wrong content, the server returns "204 No Content".
Lazy programmers may just return "200 Ok" instead of 204 with the meaning "your request is fine, but there is nothing to do with the data".
Try to verify your data and make sure that you send something that is not empty and is conformal to the API specs.
I just got API access for one of the website on the internet, and as a new api developer i got into troubles understanding how should i start and with what, So hope you guys guide me . They don't have Documents or tutorials Yet.
If anyone can give me a small example on how to send Http post request that includes Header and body? As what they are mentioning in the API page:
All requests must include an Authorization header with siteid and
apikey (with a colon in between) and it must match with the siteid and
apikey in the request body
In the body the Parameter content type will be application/json. They have also provided a Base URL.
The response will be as application/json.
What should i do? is the request can be sent using AJAX? or there is PHP code for this? i have been reading a lot about this subject but none enter my head. Really hope you guys help me out .
Please let me know if you need more information so i can provide it to you.
EDIT : Problem solved and just posting the small editing that i did to the code that was provided in the correct answer that i marked .
Thanks to Mr. Anonymous for the big help that he gave me . His answer was so so close, all what i had to do is just edit his code a little bit and everything went good .
I will list the finial code down bellow in case any other developer had this issue or wanted to do an HTTP request .
First what i did is that i stored the data that i wanted to send over the HTTP in a file with a JSON type :
{
"criteria": {
"landmarkId": 181,
"checkInDate": "2018-02-25",
"checkOutDate": "2018-02-30"
}
}
Second thing as what guys can see what Mr. Anonymous posted .
<?php
header('Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *');
$SiteID= 'My Site Id';
$ApiId= 'My Api Id';
$url = 'Base URL';
// Here i will get the data that i created in Json data type
$data = file_get_contents("data.json");
// I guess this step in not required cause the data are already in JSON but i had to do it for myself
$arrayData = json_decode($data, true);
$ch = curl_init();
//curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL,$url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, TRUE);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER,1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPAUTH, CURLAUTH_BASIC);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "$SiteID:$ApiID");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array(
'Content-Type: application/json',
'Connection: Keep-Alive',
'Authorization: $SiteID:$ApiId'
));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS,json_encode($arrayData));
$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
print_r($result);
?>
Try this
$site_id = 'your_site_id';
$api_key = 'your_api_key';
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, 'http://api-connect-url');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
############ Only one of the statement as per condition ###########
//if they have asked for post
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "$site_id=$api_key" );
//or if they have asked for raw post
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "$site_id:$api_key" );
####################################################################
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, ["$site_id:$api_key"] );
$api_response = curl_exec ($ch);
curl_close ($ch);
As asker need to send JSON Payload to API
$site_id = 'your_site_id';
$api_key = 'your_api_key';
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, 'http://api-connect-url');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
//send json payload
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "{
"criteria":{
"cityId":9395,
"area":{
"id":0,
"cityId":0
},
"landmarkId":0,
"checkInDate":"2017-09-02",

);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, ["$site_id:$api_key", 'Content-Type:application/json'] );
$api_response = curl_exec ($ch);
curl_close ($ch);
I have integrated SMS Gateway in my Opencart CMS
It uses the following SYNTAX
$xml_data ='<?xml version="1.0"?><smslist><sms><user>username</user
<password>112131</password><message>Your order # {$order_id} has been successfully received. Thank you for placing an Order at mystore.com</message><mobiles>9898000000</mobiles><senderid>Sherif</senderid><cdmasenderid>00201009546310</cdmasenderid><accountusagetypeid>1</accountusagetypeid></sms></smslist>';
$URL = "http://mainadmin.dove-sms.com/sendsms.jsp?";
$ch = curl_init($URL);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_ENCODING, 'UTF-8');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type: application/xml'));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "$xml_data");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$output = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
Please make note that I have not used my personal credentials and this is just a syntax. I have tested the code and it works absolutely fine using my credentials
Now, What I want is it should load the order number, instead it shows the text {$order_id} in my message!
Moreover I want the text to be sent to the user who has logged-in in my stored by fetching the $telephone variable
Please help and thanks in advance
File in which this code is included: catalog/controller/checkout/sucess.php
Opencart version: 1.5.6
Find the Screenshot of the message I have Received here
Now, What I want is it should load the order number, instead it shows the text {$order_id} in my message!
That's because you are using a single quoted string for the variable $xml_data, single quoted strings in PHP display things as is (variables won't be substituted with their values, they will be treated as text), to solve this issue, use a double quoted string instead (according to the PHP manual)
Moreover I want the text to be sent to the user who has logged-in in my stored by fetching the $telephone variable
simply $telephone = $this->customer->getTelephone(), now you just need to put the variable $telephone in the correct tag in $xml_data
Edit
I have read the post comments and noticed that you get an error that says $order_id is not defined, to solve that, use $this->session->data['order_id'] instead of $order_id and place your SMS code in the beginning of the if (isset($this->session->data['order_id'])) code block like that (to use the value of order id before it's erased from session):
if (isset($this->session->data['order_id'])) {
$xml_data ="<?xml version="1.0"?><smslist><sms><user>username</user
<password>112131</password><message>Your order # {$this->session->data['order_id']} has been successfully received. Thank you for placing an Order at mystore.com</message><mobiles>9898000000</mobiles><senderid>Sherif</senderid><cdmasenderid>00201009546310</cdmasenderid><accountusagetypeid>1</accountusagetypeid></sms></smslist>";
$URL = "http://mainadmin.dove-sms.com/sendsms.jsp?";
$ch = curl_init($URL);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_ENCODING, 'UTF-8');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type: application/xml'));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, "$xml_data");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$output = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
// here put the rest of the code
$this->cart->clear();
// ...
}
Finally, delete cotenets of the the folder vqcache
Here is my code:
$params = array();
$params['shared_link'] = array("access"=> "Open");
$params = json_encode($params);
echo $params;
$key = "[key]";
$token = "[token]";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "https://api.box.com/2.0/folders/[folder_id]/");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, 'PUT');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $params);

$result = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);

I am not being able to create a shared link. I get this response from box.net:
{"type":"error","status":500,"code":"internal_server_error","help_url":"http:\/\/developers.box.com\/docs\/#errors","message":"Internal Server Error","request_id":"79086734650bfaf56c7894"}
Can somebody, please, help me on this?
Thanks!
Marcelo
Looking at the URL returned in their response, they give this information for 500 errors:
5xx
The request is fine, but something is wrong on Box’s end
So it sounds like you would need to contact Box about the issue.
Luckily, i could solve my problem.
The problem was that i wanted to create an "open" shared link with an enterprise token and apparently it is not possible (i am not 100% sure but, as per my attempts, i think so).
Thanks everyone for the help.
Marcelo
I am trying to update some custom fields using the REST API and PHP/cURL.
I'm wondering if I might have edited something without realizing it, while what I have below "worked" yesterday (I think), it does not work now.
I get varying responses using the different "methods", from:
I get this one using the POST method, as it is uncommented below.
HTTP 405 - The specified HTTP method is not allowed for the requested
resource ().
I get this one if I use the commented-out PUT method, with POST commented out.
{"status-code":500,"message":"Read timed out"}
And this one mixing and matching PUT and POST.
{"errorMessages":["No content to map to Object due to end of input"]}
What am I missing/doing wrong? I am using the following code:
<?php
$username = 'username';
$password = 'password';
$url = "https://example.com/rest/api/2/issue/PROJ-827";
$ch = curl_init();
$headers = array(
'Accept: application/json',
'Content-Type: application/json'
);
$test = "This is the content of the custom field.";
$data = <<<JSON
{
"fields": {
"customfield_11334" : ["$test"]
}
}
JSON;
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, $headers);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data);
// Also tried, with the above two lines commented out...
// curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_PUT, 1);
// curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_INFILE, $data);
// curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_INFILESIZE, strlen($data));
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_USERPWD, "$username:$password");
$result = curl_exec($ch);
$ch_error = curl_error($ch);
if ($ch_error) {
echo "cURL Error: $ch_error";
} else {
echo $result;
}
curl_close($ch);
?>
The problem here is that PHP's cURL API is not particularly intuitive.
You might think that because a POST request body is sent using the following option
that a PUT request would be done the same way:
// works for sending a POST request
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POST, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data);
// DOES NOT work to send a PUT request
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_PUT, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_PUTFIELDS, $data);
Instead, to send a PUT request (with associated body data), you need the following:
// The correct way to send a PUT request
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, "PUT");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $data);
Note that even though you're sending a PUT request, you still have to use the CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS
option to send your PUT request body. It's a confusing and inconsistent process, but it's what you've
got if you want to use the PHP cURL bindings.
According to the relevant manual entrydocs, the CURLOPT_PUT option seems to only work for PUTting a file directly:
TRUE to HTTP PUT a file. The file to PUT must be set with CURLOPT_INFILE and CURLOPT_INFILESIZE.
A better option IMHO is to use a custom stream wrapper for HTTP client operations. This carries the
added benefit of not making your application reliant on the underlying libcurl library. Such an
implementation is beyond the scope of this question, though. Google is your friend if you're interested
in developing a stream wrapper solution.
