I want to find index of key from json array similar to this question Get index of a key in json
but i need the solution using php.
here is my json (partial data)
{
"currentOver":{
"events":[]
},
"matchString":"",
"currentPlayer":5,
"previousOvers":[],
"innings":[],
"scorecards":[
{
"batting":{
"players":[
{"id":16447,"name":"Rahul Roy"},
{"id":12633,"name":"Sijal Thomas"},
{"id":16446,"name":"Mohammed Reza"},
{"id":16509,"name":"Asif Khan"},
{"id":12633,"name":"Koyel Dijesh"},
{"id":16468,"name":"Shahrook"},
{"id":64691,"name":"Shafiq"},
{"id":6518,"name":"Ubaidulah"}
]
}
}
]
}
and php
foreach ($read_json->scorecards->batting->players as $batsmen => $val) {
if($val == 5) { // if batsman index is 5 then display his name
$name = $batsmen->name;
echo "<div>$name</div>\n";
}
}
Please help me to solve this issue.Thanks in advance.
I think this would suffice your requirement
http://codepad.org/XQDCKAsB
Find the code sample below as well.
$json = '{"currentOver":{"events": []},"matchString":"","currentPlayer":5,"previousOvers":[],"innings":[],"scorecards":[{"batting":{"players":[{"id":16447,"name":"Rahul Roy"},{"id":12633,"name":"Sijal Thomas"},{"id":16446,"name":"Mohammed Reza"},{"id":16509,"name":"Asif Khan"},{"id":12633,"name":"Koyel Dijesh"},{"id":16468,"name":"Shahrook"},{"id":64691,"name":"Shafiq"},{"id":6518,"name":"Ubaidulah"}]}}]}';
$arr = json_decode($json);
echo '<pre>';
$currentPlayer = $arr->currentPlayer;
echo $arr->scorecards[0]->batting->players[$currentPlayer-1]->name;
Try this code.
$info = json_decode('json string');
$currentPlayer = $info->currentPlayer;
$batsman = $info->scorecards[0]->batting->players[$currentPlayer];
echo "<div>{$batsman->name}</div>\n";
Also, note that arrays in PHP are zero-based. If currentPlayer index in json data is based on 1 (rare case, but it exists sometimes) you will ned to use
$batsman = $info->scorecards[0]->batting->players[$currentPlayer - 1];
to get right item from array.
If you just want to fix your foreach
$read_json->scorecards->batting should become $read_json->scorecards[0]->batting
if($val == 5) should become if($batsmen == 5)
$name = $batsmen->name; should become $name = $val->name;
You need to use json_decode and array_keys for the array keys from the json.
$json = '{ "key1" : "watevr1", "key2" : "watevr2", "key3" : "watevr3" }';
$result = json_decode ($json, true);
$keys = array_keys($result);
print_r($keys); //Array ( [0] => key1 [1] => key2 [2] => key3 )
In Php, You can use the code below, if you wan to fix it using foreach loop
foreach($json->entries as $row)
{
foreach($row as $key => $val)
{
echo $key . ': ' . $val;
echo '<br>';
}
}
please have a look following code
$json=json_decode($data)->scorecards[0]->batting->players;
foreach ($json as $key => $value) {
if($key==5){
echo $value->name ;
}
}
You can do it using converting JSON string to Array
$json_str = '{
"currentOver":{
"events":[]
},
"matchString":"",
"currentPlayer":5,
"previousOvers":[],
"innings":[],
"scorecards":[
{
"batting":{
"players":[
{"id":16447,"name":"Rahul Roy"},
{"id":12633,"name":"Sijal Thomas"},
{"id":16446,"name":"Mohammed Reza"},
{"id":16509,"name":"Asif Khan"},
{"id":12633,"name":"Koyel Dijesh"},
{"id":16468,"name":"Shahrook"},
{"id":64691,"name":"Shafiq"},
{"id":6518,"name":"Ubaidulah"}
]
}
}
]
}';
Decode your JSON string using "json_decode" and you get array
$json_decode_str = json_decode($json_str, true);
Now using foreach you can do anything
if($json_decode_str['scorecards']){
foreach($json_decode_str['scorecards'] as $scorecard){
$player_index = 1;
if($scorecard['batting']['players']){
foreach($scorecard['batting']['players'] as $player){
if($player_index == 5){
echo $player['name'];
}
$player_index++;
}
}
}
}
Maybe this one help you :)
Suppose, i have the fallowing json:
{
"foo.bar": 1
}
and i want to save this like this:
$array["foo"]["bar"] = 1
but i also can have more than 2 "parameters" in string. For example:
{
"foo.bar.another_foo.another_bar": 1
}
and i want to save this same way.
$array["foo"]["bar"]["another_foo"]["another_bar"] = 1
Any ideas how can i do that in case that i don't know how many parameters i have?
This is far from the nicest solution, but I've been programming all day so I'm a little tired, but I hope it gives you something to work off, or at least a working solution for the time being.
Here's the IDEone of it working: click
And here's the code:
$json = '{
"foo.bar": 1
}';
$decoded = json_decode($json, true);
$data = array();
foreach ($decoded as $key => $value) {
$keys = explode('.', $key);
$data[] = buildNestedArray($keys, $value);
}
print_r($data);
function buildNestedArray($keys, $value) {
$new = array();
foreach ($keys as $key) {
if (empty($new)) {
$new[$key] = $value;
} else {
array_walk_recursive($new, function(&$item) use ($key, $value) {
if ($item === $value) {
$item = array($key => $value);
}
});
}
}
return $new;
}
Output:
Array
(
[0] => Array
(
[foo] => Array
(
[bar] => 1
)
)
)
Wasn't sure whether your JSON string could have multiples or not so I made it handle the former.
Hope it helps, may come back and clean it up a bit in the future.
Start with a json_decode
Then build a foreach loop to break apart the keys and pass them to some kind of recursive function that creates the values.
$old_stuff = json_decode($json_string);
$new_stuff = array();
foreach ($old_stuff AS $key => $value)
{
$parts = explode('.', $key);
create_parts($new_stuff, $parts, $value);
}
Then write your recursive function:
function create_parts(&$new_stuff, $parts, $value)
{
$part = array_shift($parts);
if (!array_key_exists($part, $new_stuff)
{
$new_stuff[$part] = array();
}
if (!empty($parts)
{
create_parts($new_stuff[$part], $parts, $value);
}
else
{
$new_stuff = $value;
}
}
I have not tested this code so don't expect to just cut and past but the strategy should work. Notice that $new_stuff is passed by reference to the recursive function. This is very important.
Try the following trick for "reformatting" into json string which will fit the expected array structure:
$json = '{
"foo.bar.another_foo.another_bar": 1
}';
$decoded = json_decode($json, TRUE);
$new_json = "{";
$key = key($decoded);
$keys = explode('.', $key);
$final_value = $decoded[$key];
$len = count($keys);
foreach ($keys as $k => $v) {
if ($k == 0) {
$new_json .= "\"$v\"";
} else {
$new_json .= ":{\"$v\"";
}
if ($k == $len - 1) $new_json .= ":$final_value";
}
$new_json .= str_repeat("}", $len);
var_dump($new_json); // '{"foo":{"bar":{"another_foo":{"another_bar":1}}}}'
$new_arr = json_decode($new_json, true);
var_dump($new_arr);
// the output:
array (size=1)
'foo' =>
array (size=1)
'bar' =>
array (size=1)
'another_foo' =>
array (size=1)
'another_bar' => int 1
I'm trying to convert my array to JSON.
My JSON is stored in the database and will later be decoded for permission checking.
Example,
How I want it to be stored in the database:
{ "admin": 1,
"create_posts": 1,
"edit_posts": 1,
"delete_posts": 1 }
How it is being stored now:
{"0":"\"admin\": 1",
"1":"\"create_posts\": 1",
"2":"\"edit_posts\": 1",
"3":"\"delete_posts\": 1"}
My code:
$check_list = $_POST['check_list'];
$list = array();
foreach($check_list as $key) {
$key = '"' . $key .= '": 1';
array_push($list, $key);
}
$json = json_encode($list, JSON_FORCE_OBJECT);
How would I make it so that it stores in the database like I want it to be?
I'm quite new to this, so any hints instead of direct answers is also much appreciated!
UPDATE:
JSON decode and validation:
$permis = json_decode($permissions->permissions, true);
echo ($permis['admin'] == true) ? 'allowed' : 'disallowed';
$arr = [ 'a', 'b', 'c' ];
echo json_encode(
array_combine(
$arr,
array_fill(0, count($arr), 1)
),
JSON_PRETTY_PRINT
);
Output:
{
"a": 1,
"b": 1,
"c": 1
}
http://us3.php.net/manual/en/function.array-combine.php
http://us3.php.net/manual/en/function.array-fill.php
I'm assuming the incoming data looks like this.
$incoming_data = "admin=1&create_posts=1&edit_posts=1&delete_posts=1";
$pairs = parse_str($incoming_data);
so we take the incoming pairs and use the $key as the array index so you don't get the extra array element index.
$permissions = array();
foreach($pairs as $key => $value){
$permissions[$key] = $value;
}
then we encode the new array to get the JSON you're looking for.
print json_encode($permissions);
will print out JSON like this:
{
"admin":"1",
"create_posts":"1",
"edit_posts":"1",
"delete_posts":"1"
}
The main thing to change in your code is this.
foreach($check_list as $key) {
$list[$key] = 1;
}
I am having a string below
$string = ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45
I would like the JSON output be like
[{"name":"website","data":["ot","om","we","ff"]}]
and
[{"name":"websitedata","data":["4","6","34","45"]}]
what I've tried
$query = mysql_query("SELECT month, wordpress, codeigniter, highcharts FROM project_requests");
$category = array();
$category['name'] = 'website';
$series1 = array();
$series1['name'] = 'websitedata';
while($r = mysql_fetch_array($query)) {
$category['data'][] = $r['month'];
}
$result = array();
array_push($result,$category);
array_push($result,$series1);
print json_encode($result, JSON_NUMERIC_CHECK);
but the above code is applicable only if the data are present in rows from a mysql table, what i want is achieve the same result with the data from the above string. that is
$string = ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45
NEW UPDATE:
I would like to modify the same string
$string = ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45
into
json output:
[
{
"type" : "pie",
"name" : "website",
"data" : [
[
"ot",
4
],
[
"om",
6
],
[
"we",
34
]
]
}
]
I have updated the answer please check the json part, I would like the php code.
regards
You can explode() on the >s, and then loop through the elements:
$string = "ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45";
$array1 = [
'name'=>'website',
'data'=>[]
]
$array2 = [
'name'=>'websitedata',
'data'=>[]
]
foreach(explode('>', $string) as $index => $value){
if($index & 1) //index is odd
$array2['data'][] = $value;
else //index is even
$array1['data'][] = $value;
}
echo json_encode($array1); //prints {"name":"website","data":["ot","om","we","ff"]}
echo json_encode($array2); //prints {"name":"websitedata","data":["4","6","34","45"]}
A solution using preg_match_all():
$string = "ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45";
preg_match_all('/(\w+)>(\d+)/', $string, $matches);
$array1 = [
'name'=>'website',
'data'=> $matches[1]
];
$array2 = [
'name'=>'websitedata',
'data'=> $matches[2]
];
echo json_encode($array1); //prints {"name":"website","data":["ot","om","we","ff"]}
echo json_encode($array2); //prints {"name":"websitedata","data":["4","6","34","45"]}
Update:
To get the second type of array you wanted, use this:
//since json_encode() wraps property names in double quotes (which prevents the chart script from working), you'll have to build the json object manually
$string = "ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45";
preg_match_all('/(\w+)>(\d+)/', $string, $matches);
$data = [];
foreach($matches[1] as $index => $value){
if(isset($matches[2][$index]))
$data[] = '["' . $value . '",' . $matches[2][$index] . ']';
}
$type = 'pie';
$name = 'website';
echo $jsonString = '[{type:"' . $type . '",name:"' . $name . '",data:[' . implode(',', $data) . ']}]'; // prints [{type:"pie",name:"website",data:[["ot",4],["om",6],["we",34],["ff",45]]}]
Update #2:
This code uses explode(), and although it's probably not the most efficient way of doing it, it works.
//since json_encode() wraps property names in double quotes (which prevents the chart script from working), you'll have to build the json object manually
$string = "ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45";
$keys = [];
$values = [];
foreach(explode('>', $string) as $key => $value){
if(!($key & 1)) //returns true if the key is even, false if odd
$keys[] = $value;
else
$values[] = $value;
}
$data = [];
foreach($keys as $index => $value){
if(isset($values[$index]))
$data[] = '["' . $value . '",' . $values[$index] . ']';
}
$type = 'pie';
$name = 'website';
echo $jsonString = '[{type:"' . $type . '",name:"' . $name . '",data:[' . implode(',', $data) . ']}]'; // prints [{type:"pie",name:"website",data:[["ot",4],["om",6],["we",34],["ff",45]]}]
This should work, though there are probably better ways to do it.
$string = "ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45";
$website = ["name" => "website", "data" => []];
$websiteData = ["name" => "websitedata", "data" => []];
foreach(explode(">", $string) as $i => $s) {
if($i % 2 === 0) {
$website["data"][] = $s;
} else {
$websiteData["data"][] = $s;
}
}
echo json_encode($website);
echo json_encode($websiteData);
A regex alternative:
preg_match_all("/([a-z]+)>(\d+)/", $string, $matches);
$website = ["name" => "website", "data" => $matches[1]];
$websiteData = ["name" => "websitedata", "data" => $matches[2]];
Try this code:
$string = 'ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45';
$string_split = explode('>', $string);
$data = array("name" => "website");
$data2 = $data;
foreach ($string_split as $key => $value)
{
if (((int)$key % 2) === 0)
{
$data["data"][] = $value;
}
else
{
$data2["data"][] = $value;
}
}
$json1 = json_encode($data, JSON_NUMERIC_CHECK);
$json2 = json_encode($data2, JSON_NUMERIC_CHECK);
echo $json1;
echo $json2;
Output:
{"name":"website","data":["ot","om","we","ff"]}
{"name":"website","data":[4,6,34,45]}
Regards.
Try this snippet:
$strings = explode('>', 'ot>4>om>6>we>34>ff>45');
// print_r($string);
$x = 0;
$string['name'] = 'website';
$numbers['name'] = 'websitedata';
foreach ($strings as $s)
{
if ($x == 0) {
$string['data'][] = $s;
$x = 1;
} else {
$numbers['data'][] = $s;
$x = 0;
}
}
print_r(json_encode($string));
echo "<br/>";
print_r(json_encode($numbers));
As usual - it is long winded but shows all the steps to get to the required output.

I am querying a database for results and trying to convert them into JSON encodable array where the key will act as the name of the pair and the value is the value. How would I do this in the following code below?
foreach($results as $result) {
foreach( $result as $key => $value ) {
if ($key == 'D')
{
$trimmed = round($value, 4);
}
else
{
$trimmed = trim($value, "\n\r");
}
$array[$i] ="$key"."=>"."$trimmed";
}
$i = 0;
$jret = json_encode($array);
echo $jret;
}
For example:
<?php
$object[0] = array("foo" => "bar", 12 => true);
$encoded_object = json_encode($object);
?>
output:
{"1": {"foo": "bar", "12": "true"}}
dunno what you need and why you mimic PHP code instead of using it, but may be
$array[] = array($key => $trimmed);
is what you are looking for
with
$array[$i][$key] = $trimmed;
you could do
$return = json_encode($object, JSON_FORCE_OBJECT);
at the end
