I can not figure out why my GitHub pages can’t load any of my source files. I want to load the index[dot]php file. Everything works as it should on localhost. It only loads readme. If someone could help me with it. I'm new to this.
I did not work with Github Pages, but looking at the documentation, they do not support PHP files, as they only support static files. You can use Markdown or HTML files, or instead, static files can be generated using Jekyll.
If you do want to add dynamic functionality, you could probably use an iframe. However, anything displayed in that iframe should be hosted elsewhere.
Github is just a repository site there is no deployment or any such server side scripting platform.
You cannot run any server side script on github yaah you may view HTML file.
Try hosting your site/project on some hosting sites like
000webhost
heroku etc

I'm working on a project on localhost. Its kind of a company management application based on some php framework. Basically I'm a front-end developer and I've to fix some pages, their alignments and color scheme. I'm using firefox. Every single time when I've to change the settings of any page I've to go the php dev who built the app and they located file for me in the project, obviously they knew the file structure of the whole project. So is there any possible way, tool, addon or plugin that can identify the specific file (which is currently open in my browser) for me? so that I can reach the file on localhost directly and edit it right away rather than bothering the php developers all the time. Firefox inspect element can identify the css files though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
So I have this app, just deployed on Heroku: http://jobsboardd.herokuapp.com/
And as you can see, instead of some fancy icons there are some strange symbols(rectangle)? I know it's a common thing with ruby apps, and I couldn't find anything related to php.
And according to the html code, every css file is loaded as it should. So what can be causing it and how i can fix it?
As I've check in the site's code, you are using HTML Kickstart Toolkit. The Icons that you are looking for belongs to another plugin called font-awesome. See if all the files in the css and fonts are accessible and mapped correctly. I've noticed when I check in the browser's developer console that this image is missing so its possible others are not accessible as well.
how can I use php files using the Google web starter kit? I discovered today the Web-Starter-Kit from Google and I'm trying to get familiar with it. It works great but now I add some php code into the basic.html file and it does show in the preview file but in the /dist/ directory where the final code awaits it doesn't appear.
My question is how can I use php files using the Google web starter kit?
You should use files with extension (.php) for writing PHP code. Try changing basic.html to basic.php
Nope.
You should design the layout as normal html5 and css3 pages. Then make those static dynamic pages by replacing with php code.
Design different layout as static html pages first and then convert it to dynamic websites an easy way.
There is a lot of questions about this subject, but I can't really find anything usefull to my problem. I'm using the HTML5 cache manifest on a web app. The web app is made in wordpress and it's also made like a Native app on iPhone.
The problem is, that I would like to get the native app run when fly mode is enabled or you just don't have a connection to the internet. Right now I'm caching all the images, libaries and the php templates, and that works fine.
The problem is, that I would like it to cach or save the content of the pages. It would be possible and easy if all the pages was static HTML, but all my content is dynamic.
Anyone who knows a way to do this?
I'm using the Patrick Chia's wordpress plugin to make the cache manifest file.
Thanks!
Use caching for the pages and something like localStorage for the data. Then use Javascript to merge the two.
How would I go about loading a module created with Lectora, with PHP? I can't seem to find any good tutorials. Using an LMS like Moodle is out the question unfortunately. The module is in the form of a .zip file.
Based on your response in the comments and assuming the instructional designer creating the course publishes the course using the HTML option than the zip file will just contain standard html, JavaScript and image files. You can just use standard tools to unzip the package and FTP or copy the files to the web server and do not need any special tools or scripts on the server side to unpackage the course. A published Lectora HTML course will have an index.html at the root of the package that you will want to link to when launching the course. Hope this helps.
