Issue: Assets retrieving issue in Laravel 5.4
Server root directory
-- public_html/
-- pilardir/ [Laravel Installed Here Project Controller, Models, Views Working from this directory]
Domain setup
www.thepiresearch.com Domain pointing directory (public_html/)
The problem here is the laravel application setup in the [pilardir] directory so when we setting up any assets file or upload blog images from the app then its uploading here pilardir/public/uploads/blogs which is all correct.
Now the problem is when we fetching the assets files / images it return the path and assets url from
public_html/public/uploads/blogs
which is incorrect.
please try this :
www.thepiresearch.com/uploads/blogs
remove public and public_html of public_html/public/uploads/blogs

I have a laravel application that I made changes to the folder structure, I have been working with laragon and everything works fine but on my local environment and live server.
However, when i user php artisan serve, the generated url doesn't load assets in the public folder.
E.g
https://livewebsite.com // [live server] works.
https://myproject.local // [laragon] works.
http://localhost/myproject // [laragon /xampp] works
http://127.0.0.1:8000 // artisan [doesn't load assets, assets in the public directory returns 404
//e.g http://127.0.0.1:8000/public/assets/themes/cryptic/style/bgs.css would return 404
Changes I made,
|-core
|-public
|-.htaccess
|-index.php
I have moved all laravel core folders and files to the core folder,
moved the .htaccess and index.php to the root directory.
From my debugging so far, I understand that laravel built in server redirects requests to the public folder where the index.php file is located.
What changes can I make so that the request is not sent to the public folder,
i.e http://127.0.0.1:8000/public/assets/themes/cryptic/style/bgs.css should just be allowed to be without be redirected.
The entire thing works on various environments except when I'm using laravel built-in PHP server with the artisan command.
EDIT
Folder structure
|-project
|-core
|-app
|-bootstrap
|-config
|-database
|-lang
|-etc
|-public
|-assets
|-test-folder
|-img.png
|-.htacess
|-index.php
in this setup, laravel base_path() is project/core . This where all laravel core files and folders are stored.
Now I have folder test-folder with an image img.png . If i go to http://localhost/project/new-folder/img.png it will return the image but if i go http://127.0.0.1:8000/new-folder/img.png will return 404. If i use a live server and go http://livewebsite.com/new-folder/img.png , it loads.
I can't comment due to reputation, but what you're doing might be unsafe!
This way all your project files will be public, which can expose credentials and exposes Composer packages to the public as well. This means any PHP file in any Composer package can be executed, which can lead to remote code execution, which has happened before here and is described here.
I want to deploy the Laravel project to my shared hosting.
When I go to my site main domain (example.com) It displays all directory and files but (example.com/public) works fine.
What if I just create an index.php file in the project root directory with following code
<?php
header('Location: ./public');
?>
It just redirects me to example.com/public.
Just tell me if there will be an issue that may occur at any point?
I am new to Laravel.
I don't care to remove the public directory. I only care if someone goes to example.com then it just redirects example.com/public to work fine.
Update
Just keep it short and simple answer (Yes/No) then explain it.
Is there will be an issue that occurs with the above steps (actions)? (Yes/No)
did you point your vhost to to the public directory?
For Apache
DocumentRoot [Laravel root direcoty]/public
For Nginx
root [Laravel root direcoty]/public;
Laravel Deploment
I'd suggest the easy way, by create a symbolic link of public_html and link it to your laravel project's public directory. don't forget to set your project folder permission.
here's the example: https://blog.netgloo.com/2016/01/29/deploy-laravel-application-on-shared-hosting/
This is Bablu Ahmed. I want to upload my laravel 5.5 project into cpanel and my domain is an addon domain name is w3public.com and it's root directory is not inside the public_html it is outside the public_html (www.w3public.com). I have separated the project's files into two directories, one is www.w3public.com and another is laravel and I moved public folder's files into www.w3public.com and all other files into the laravel folder in cpanel that is given in screenshot below. I have also modified the index.php file of www.w3public.com as follows:
require __DIR__.'/../../laravel/vendor/autoload.php';
$app = require_once __DIR__.'/../../laravel/bootstrap/app.php';
But it is not working. Can anyone help me with appropriate solutions?
Screenshot:
Your application should be installed in www.w3public.com and then change the root path from cpanel domains to the public folder inside laravel.
The best way to transfer files is git or the likes, but if they don't have it (usually is the case in shared hosting), you should use a ftp client, and if they don't allow that either, you can upload files/folders from cpanel (way too slow sadly).
If you use git be careful since by default vendor folder is in the .gitignore (you have to run "composer update --no-dev" after all the files are transferred)
Make sure also that your ".env" (usually in .gitignore too, so you prob have to make one) file have your server database info.
Hi I have my website which its my resume and now I want to show the project that I have done one of my project is laravel and I move it to: public_html/laravel
and also move my DB to there but I get this error:
403 Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /laravel/ on this server.
I don't understand is it because of I didn't put files on main public_html and move it to folder or other stuff I also changes(i don't know if its right) change config/database.php mysql part to database configuration but I keep getting this error
Laravel server files from the public/ directory. So try a URL like this instead:
http://example.com/laravel/public
If that works, you'll need to move some files around a bit. This should help with moving things around:
How to change public folder to public_html in laravel 5
If you use shared hosting then please do not uplaod whole laravel application to the publitc_html folder. You have to upload your all application at global document root for your domain like home/yourdomainand you have to rename existing public_html folder to any name and rename laravel public folder to public_html and try again. See the image below:
I'm working with a server that I can only use FTP, so I have my laravel project in a folder inside www named 'laravel', I want to see my project by clicking domain.com/laravel, inside this www folder I have others folders with others projects I don't think that I can use the root to upload my laravel project like I saw in many tutorials.
Now If I visit domain.com/laravel i only see a list of directories ,Is possible to view my project working at /laravel ??
Thanks!
You would either need to add a custom mod rewrite config or configure your apache virtual host directory to be laravel/public
