We have a mobile app and a web app for the same application server. When users access the system through web app it works fine, but when try to accessing from the mobile app it gives 429 error code from the server.
I tried by reducing the traffic to server by allowing only one external IP from the firewall and that time both mobile and web app works fine. It seems no of concurrent connections doesn't affects to the web app but it affects to the mobile app. Mobile app calls to the server through server host name through an API.

I am developing a tablet based android application and its back-end and api calls are done in php (slim lib) and mysql.
the app architecture is bellow.
there will be a local server machine in the building / room for handling api calls from android app through wifi network. all the data and media files uploaded /stored in the local machine. android app fetches the data/media files form server on demand via api calls.
Now am using xampp server for my test purpose and its work decently up to 10 devices . if the number of devices increases some devices lost the response from server or wait long time for response especially in file downloading from server to tab.
I have tested the app with real devices and commercial router. I need to improve the response speed from server and fast simultaneous file downloading.
Is there any commercial local apache server package available other than xampp and wampp.
Use EasyPHP. It is is one of the best contenders to Xampp.
Laragon
Easy Php

I'm working an a Web/Mobile Application.
Desktop is made with Laravel 5.1 and Oracle 11g express Edition.
Mobile is made on Android.
I'm using two computers, both of them are on local (Android and PHP).
All works fine on the desktop application.
Now it's time to connect my Android App to the database, to do so, i have to implement a Web Service.
How can i get the URL of the web service and use it on the other machine for android?
How can i test my webservice ?
For trying Web Service locally,
Both your device needs to be in the same network.
The API calls will be like: <YOUR.IP.ADDRS>/PATH in you Android App Source Code.
You can even use Postman REST Client, to test your app.
See, if that helps.
I have a Joomla site running on local intranet. It works perfectly if accessed via LAN. But if someone tries to access the same via VPN network then gives below error.
Access to the Web site is blocked by your administrator. Please notify your system administrator. Made http request for GET /index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=634:blackberry-&Itemid=59&layout=default HTTP/1.1 to techiecloud:80
What could be the possible reason for the same, Is it application configuration issue or related to network.
That's a network error message rather than a Joomla one.
Try uploading any website there - Joomla or not - and I assume you will get the same message.
I am new to web services and planning to design a php webservice for my android app on my local machine which will send some user informations to database and generate some JSON data. But the problem is i am little confused about how to test it.
For example lets say that my webservice will locate on my local machine like below http://localhost:80/webservice/register.php
And my ip address is 192.168.1.X
Than is it possible for my android app to use this web service by using this url http://192.168.1.X:80/webservice/register.php
Normally since webservices are on the internet any program can access them. But i thought that i can test my webservice with my android app since both my pc and android device are on the same subnet.
If someone make things clear and tell me a way for testing a web service locally i appreciated
This is possible to call the web service in the local network also from the android app. But Your device and Your server on which Web Service running must have on the same network and Your firewall or any proxy server must be off on the server.
I will be developing an application for a club where they will have visitors use biometric systems(finger print) or magnetic cards to mark their attendance.
This application is planned as a web app, made using PHP/MySQL/Javascript. It does a lot of other things as well.
What I wanted to find out is how is the interface between Biometric/Megnetic Card systems to a web app done?
I've never worked on this and am hoping if someone who has experience with this can throw some light on this as to how this could be accomplished. Any pointers will be appreciated.
Also, we will be hosting this application remotely. So we won't have physical access to the web-server.
(I'm afraid there's got to be some form of application installed on a pc that would interface with the hardware and probably makes calls to the web app. But, if there was a way to connect it to the web app directly, then the app would be easy to deploy to any location with minimal installation.)
Thanks! :)
How is the hardware connected? Directly to the app server, or to a standalone box of some sort? If it's a standalone box, then yes you'll have to have some kind of program on the box collect the data and send it to the web app. If it's connected directly to the app server, then you need to write something that either polls the hardware or receives messages/events from the driver and DTRT wrt the web app.
There three type of communication channels are supported by the biometric machines. They are serial, TCP/IP and HTTP. In your case, you either need to implement TCP/IP or HTTP.
If your application is running the intranet, then you can implement the TCP/IP server application and host at a intranet system which is expected to write in a common database between the biometric application and your web-app.
If your application is hosted at the server, then you can implement the http server and associated the URL with the machine. For this you need buy the http api supported machines. Here is the google search link for finding such machines.
