I've been working on a script that can be used for an internal wiki, that will remove the properties for a user who is inactive. I believe I'm almost there but having a problem with the api.
I think I need to use urlencode on the $delete path BUT only for the # in the email address and # in the property. I know how to use urlencode for the whole thing but not on just that. The way it works, is it loops through to get the properties and most of them include # in the name. Anyone who can help modify so that this works would be greatly appreciated!
Here is the script:
<?php
$user_id="john_smith#ourwiki.com";
$url=('http://admin:12345#192.168.245.133/#api/deki/users/=john_smith#ourwiki.com/properties');
$xmlString=file_get_contents($url);
$delete = "http://admin:12345#192.168.245.133/#api/deki/DELETE:users/$user_id/properties/%s";
$xml = new SimpleXMLElement($xmlString);
function curl_fetch($url,$username,$password,$method='DELETE')
{
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, $method);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE); // returns output as a string instead of echoing it
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_USERPWD,"$username:$password"); // if your server requires basic auth do this
return curl_exec($ch);
}
foreach($xml->property as $property) {
$name = $property['name']; // the name is stored in the attribute
curl_fetch(sprintf($delete, $name),'admin','12345');
}
?>
Like this?
$delete = "http://admin:12345#192.168.245.133/#api/deki/DELETE:users/".urlencode($user_id)."/properties/%s";

I am working with a API. the link shows in the class like this
private $apiPath = "http://www.website.com/api/v1/users/username";
now if the username part is tom and i put it in the browser like so.
private $apiPath = "http://www.website.com/api/v1/users/tom";
it will display all toms stats in text format.
I am trying to figure out how to display it in HTML rendered format
using php so i can display it on my site. I was told its in an array.
so I am assuming using variables i can get it to display what and where I want. I am just really unclear.
I have the class but unsure what to do. do i include it?
This will allow you to grab the username from db and compare
function stats(){
$user_id = $_GET['uid'];
$sql = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE uid = $user_id ";
$result = query($sql);
$row = mysqli_fetch_object($result);
$username = $row->username);
$url = ('"http://www.website.com/api/v1/users/'.$username);
$rCURL = curl_init();
curl_setopt($rCURL, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($rCURL, CURLOPT_HEADER, 0);
curl_setopt($rCURL, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
$aData = curl_exec($rCURL);
curl_close($rCURL);
$response = json_decode($aData, true);
}
If you just want the data that the API is returning, that class would tell me that it is returning JSON which is a data interchange format. You could use PHP's cURL function to get the data from the API and then decode it into a PHP array using json_decode and then you could do what you like with the data.
For example:
$apiUrl = "http://www.website.com/api/v1/users/$username";
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, false);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL,$apiURL);
$result=curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
$userArray = json_decode($result, true);
If you need to use the class as you need to process the data into the form it does, you will need to include the class and use it.
import 'myclass.php';
$userData = new statsProfile('name');
Then you can use the other methods of the class as you need.
I use cURL to send requests to REST API and I would like to add a string to created url befeore execute it. This string is not a parameter.
Do you know how can I do that?
It's called string concatenation. In php it can be done: $str = $string1.$string2;
p.s. Always read documentation before asking something. There you can find answers on most of your questions.
It depends on really what you want to do. If you want to call an URL by appending GET query parameters, you can use string concatenation.
<?php
function get_data($url, $add) {
$url = $url.$add;
$ch = curl_init();
$timeout = 5;
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, $timeout);
$data = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
return $data;
}
echo get_data('http://example.com', '?page=mine');
?>
However, if you want to retrieve a specific URL by sending POST query parameters (e.g. to simulate a form being submitted), you need to implement something like this instead.
I found a script in Web Designer magazine that enables you to gather Album Data from a Facebook Fan Page, and put it on your site.
The script utilizes PHP's file_get_contents() function, which works great on my personal server, but is not allowed on the Network Solutions hosting.
In looking through their documentation, they recommended that you use a cURL session to gather the data. I have never used cURL sessions before, and so this is something of a mystery to me. Any help would be appreciated.
The code I "was" using looked like this:
<?php
$FBid = '239319006081415';
$FBpage = file_get_contents('https://graph.facebook.com/'.$FBid.'/albums');
$photoData = json_decode($FBpage);
$albumID = $photoData->data[0]->id;
$albumURL = "https://graph.facebook.com/".$albumID."/photos";
$rawAlbumData = file_get_contents("https://graph.facebook.com/".$albumID."/photos");
$photoData2 = json_decode($rawAlbumData);
$a = 0;
foreach($photoData2->data as $data) {
$photoArray[$a]["source"] = $data->source;
$photoArray[$a]["width"] = $data->width;
$photoArray[$a]["height"] = $data->height;
$a++;
}
?>
The code that I am attempting to use now looks like this:
<?php
$FBid = '239319006081415';
$FBUrl = "https://graph.facebook.com/".$FBid."/albums";
$ch = curl_init($FBUrl);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_BINARYTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE);
$contents = curl_exec($ch);
curl_close($ch);
$photoData = json_decode($contents);
?>
When I try to echo or manipulate the contents of $photoData however, it's clear that it is empty.
Any thoughts?
Try removing curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_BINARYTRANSFER, 1); I'm not exactly sure what that does but I'm not using it and my code otherwise looks very similar. I'd also use:
json_decode($contents,true); This should put the results in an array instead of an object. I've had better luck with this approach.
Put it in the works for me category.
Try this it could work
$ch = curl_init($FBUrl);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_BINARYTRANSFER, 1);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER, FALSE);
$contents = curl_exec($ch);
$pageData = json_decode($contents);
//object to array
$objtoarr = get_object_vars($pageData);
curl_close($ch);
Use jquery get Json instead This tips is from FB Album downloader GreaseMonkey script
I've create a script that will delete all user properties for a particular individual. I'm able to use an api call to get the users' properties from the xml. And I'm using a delete api to remove each property.
I would like to be able to test when there are no more properties left and then output a message accordingly. Inside the for loop is where each property is found. Any help is certainly appreciated.
Below is the code:
<?php
$user_id="john_smith#ourwiki.com";
$url=('http://user:12345#192.168.245.133/#api/users/=john_smith#ourwiki.com/properties');
$xmlString=file_get_contents($url);
$delete = "http://user:12345#192.168.245.133/#api/DELETE:users/$user_id/properties/%s";
$xml = new SimpleXMLElement($xmlString);
function curl_fetch($url,$username,$password,$method='DELETE')
{
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, $method);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE); // returns output as a string instead of echoing it
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_USERPWD,"$username:$password"); // if your server requires basic auth do this
return curl_exec($ch);
}
foreach($xml->property as $property) {
$name = $property['name']; // the name is stored in the attribute
curl_fetch(sprintf($delete, $name),'user','12345');
}
?>
The foreach construct automatically loops until the end of the enumerable object (namely $xml).
I think you're looking for the count function:
if(!count($xml->property)) die('No more properties');
I'm trying to create a script that will delete all user properties for a particular individual. I'm able to use an api call to get the users' properties. And I'm trying use a delete api to remove each property. But I'm having an issue doing so. Below is the code:
$delete = "http://www.ourwiki.com/#api/DELETE:users/$user_id/properties/%s";
$xml = new SimpleXMLElement($xmlString);
foreach($xml->property as $property) {
$name = $property['name']; // the name is stored in the attribute
file_get_contents(sprintf($delete, $name));
}
I believe I need to use curl to perform the actual delete. Here is an example of that command (property=something):
curl -u username:password -X DELETE -i http://ourwiki.com/#api/users/=john_smith#ourwiki.com/properties/something
-u Provides external user authentication.
-X Specifies the HTTP request method.
-i Outputs the HTTP response headers. Useful for debugging.
Is this something that I can incorporate right into the existing script? Or is there something else I need to do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
update:
<?php
$user_id="john_smith#ourwiki.com";
$url=('http://aaron:12345#192.168.245.133/#api/deki/users/=john_smith#ourwiki.com/properties');
$xmlString=file_get_contents($url);
$delete = "http://aaron:12345#192.168.245.133/#api/deki/DELETE:users/$user_id/properties/%s";
$xml = new SimpleXMLElement($xmlString);
function curl_fetch($url,$username,$password,$method='DELETE')
{
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, $method);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE); // returns output as a string instead of echoing it
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_USERPWD,"$username:$password"); // if your server requires basic auth do this
return curl_exec($ch);
}
foreach($xml->property as $property) {
$name = $property['name']; // the name is stored in the attribute
curl_fetch(sprintf($delete, $name),'aaron','12345');
}
?>
You can use php curl, or shell out to curl using exec.
If curl is already enabled on you web server, go with php curl. If you cant install php-curl copy a command line version of curl and you are good to go.
In php-curl to set the delete method do:
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, 'DELETE');
edit
Something like this:
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, "http://www.ourwiki.com/#api/whatever/url/you/want/or/need");
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, 'DELETE');
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE); // returns output as a string instead of echoing it
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_USERPWD,"$username:$password"); // if your server requires basic auth do this
$output = curl_exec($ch);
edit2
stick that above code in a function:
function curl_fetch($url,$username,$password,$method='DELETE')
{
$ch = curl_init();
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_CUSTOMREQUEST, $method);
curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, TRUE); // returns output as a string instead of echoing it
curl_setopt($ch,CURLOPT_USERPWD,"$username:$password"); // if your server requires basic auth do this
return curl_exec($ch);
}
and replace the call to file_get_contents() in your script with the new function.
curl_fetch(sprintf($delete, $name),'aaron','12345');
Done.
looks like you are looking for the curl function calls in php, including curl_setopt
